1. Leaving babylon the great no longer fleeing from false to true religion, now it is fleeing from material things and possibly geographical.( used this as a reason to not waste time on education)

3. The three phases are a) Turn on BTG. b) Celestial phenomena( which turns into the sign on the son of man) c) Armageddon.

If leaving BTG now means leaving material things and possibly geographical location, how is the 1st phase of the Great Tribulation (Turn of BTG) accomplished? With the old light the UN/Governments turned on BTG (religion), how does UN/Governments turn on material things...are they suggesting a turn on Capitalism?

That's exactly what I was thinking.The GB speaks in circles but doesn't expect anybody to call them on it."Materialism" certainly isn't exclusive to "BTG" nor is it limited to a geographic location as BTG supposedly encompasses a "Worldwide Empire of False Religion".This idea really doesn't make any sort of sense or connection with "fleeing BTG".What I DO find intersting is that many refugees and poor ones who obviously lack material things and have had to leave their homes are now becoming Witnesses.It's almost like a leveling of the scale, in effect saying: "You already gave up everything but don't worry because so will every other Witness out there when the big Trib comes along !" Plus, they probably hope Witnesses will sell off their stuff and give to the WT right now.

As for groups of brothers being assigned to clean up the bodies... Most of them can't even get off their asses to help clean the Hall ! Good luck with that one...

Don't Fret About the "Fastest Growing Religion"

once upon a time, there was a vast empire that was born of out events around 1914. it demanded that its youth become "pioneers".. it grew rapidly and published endless statistics of growth.

it attracted an ever-growing number of desperate people in the 3rd world.. however, what no one seemed to notice, amidst all the evidence of its growing might, was that its empire was a money losing proposition.

and that it made endless numbers of enemies thru its aggression.

The Society has always loved the numbers game just like all corporations that want to build investor confidence.Fudge the numbers to look better.When other religions, like Catholicism, mention how numerous they are the WT just shrugs it off and has some sort of snarky comment.But whenever the C.O. visits the congregations he goes over the statistics by fractions ! How hypocritical ! Plus, a larger religion with a smaller percentage growth still produces far more members.For instance, the Catholic Church has over One BILLION members ! So an increase of only .5% would still be FIFTY MILLION ! This is significant because the Society uses increase as evidence of God's blessing so what does that say about how God feels about Catholicism whom the Society has no qualms about repeatedly bashing ? The WT can't have it both ways but it sure does try.

Are We Any Better Than the Witnesses?

i have just been on this board a short time.

i have been visiting it for years, however, via the freeminds site since i left the jws in the late 1990s.. but there is so much anger and pain and hatred--especially for people who still want to believe in some kind of god or religion--on this board that it doesn't seem to be so healthy of a place.

why so much hate?

Caljuher, I'm not sure I understand you here.You have received some very balanced answers stating there are many here that have been abused, that have lost nearly everything and that this will result in a great deal of pain and "negative talk".I was an elder for a number of years and I can tell you we had the same thing in the congregation where some members were simply at each others throats.

People are people no matter where you go.I see you have received some rather straightforward answers but is it possible that you're feeling rather sensitive and vulnerable right now ? Perhaps even projecting emotions onto others that you feel might be "harsh" or "unreasonable" with you ? I personally don't see where anyone has expressed even a remote bit of hatred for you.

I agree that it can seem a bit overwhelming at first to read such frank , and yes angry, comments and threads, but again, please keep in mind that a kicked around and abused animal is going to lash out at nearly anyone, even those trying to help.Some can't seem to look beyond the pain right now and yet others may be looking for a pat on the back for "sticking it to the man".Negative experiences in life can produce a wide range of emotional problems.One can't expect that such things will be worked out overnight.Take a look at these verses....

Ec 7:10 "Surely oppression maketh the wise mad,"

"Don't listen to everything that everyone says, or you might hear your servant cursing you. Haven't you cursed many others? I told myself that I would be smart and try to understand all of this, but it was too much for me."

Even if one doesn't believe in the Bible you have to admit that there's good advice here.At one point or another in our life we've all acted this way.Just one more thing too.Imagine if your friends had all been through some terrible experience together.Perhaps, victims of a robbery or hostage type situation or some other painful experience.Imagine if you invited them over to your house shortly after this occurred.You would likley here many painful and angry statements about what they went through.Maybe they'd even lash out at you and tell you :"You don't understand what it's like ! " Everyone handles thing differently.What's traumatic for one, isn't to another. I suggest taking a step back to look at the big picture.Trying to put ourselves in another persons shoes is one of the most difficult things we'll ever do.

That's not really the point , is it ? The point is the Society APPROVES of it (taking fractions) and so do many Witnesses.

I only want to address one thing and that's the blood/alcohol analogy instituted by the WT as it's wrong on so many levels.First, the body does NOT produce alcohol.If it did many guys would have a tap installed.Second, not even the most die hard drunk or alcoholic would inject alcohol into their veins ! Third, Alcohol isn't used to sustain ones life.If anything, it can have the opposite effect.Fourth (and here's the biggy)....

"If a doctor told you to "refrain" or "abstain" from alcohol, would it be proper to put it into your veins?"

Well, in that case.....if you're told to abstain from alcohol would you rush out of the office, grab a bottle of Vodka and head on down to the local lab to have them break it down into fractions so you can drink it that way !?! Cause that's what they're doing with blood, isn't it ?

yes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".

the charitable arm of the jehovah's witnesses should return a 100,000 legacy from a man it expelled for trying to convert call girls, one of the man's relatives has said.. martin davis said the watchtower society should return the money left to it by his cousin donald kennett so it could go to kennett's nephew, who is autistic.. accepting money from a member who had been expelled would damage the charity's reputation, said davis, of dulwich, south london.. kennett was befriended by a jehovah's witness in the 80s when recovering from a serious car crash and joined shortly afterwards, davis told third sector.

he was 'disfellowshipped' from his group in stockport in 2001 after members discovered that he was contacting call girls.. when kennett's mother died in 1994, she had left half her estate to him and half to his autistic nephew.
