What has always interested me though, is the disparity between the number avg dubs, to the Max dubs and then figure in the number baptised , someone or ones just disappeared. If you take the USA on its own, you will see a great difference .The WTS has always loved to use stats. What they haven't realized is that some of us can read between the lines. Do the math. Thank you for the input Flipper. I haven't as yet made your aquiantance, seem pretty down to earth.

Watched TV evangelists for the first time today
by shopaholic ini was flipping through the channels while doing cardio and i decided to hear what a couple of these people had to say.
while i've determined that i'm agnostic, this one guy was pretty good...he was practical and funny.
he made the bible seem more like a good self-help book than a "book laws to be obeyed or else you'll die".

I am rather entertained by the TV people. John Hagee, CornerStone baptist in Tx. is a favorite. I was especially curious today as to whether any of them would have picked up on the JW scandal on NBC. Didn't hear a word. Perhaps their programs are pre-recorded? Would you think? I know some are re-runs. Tell me though, how do those afro-american Preachers do that gasping stutter whatever you call it thing?

Thank you, Atlantis. I haven't done the bean counting in a few years. In the past I ahve always tried to figure out the net loss/gain of publishers. Should the figures of Max Pubs at the end of the year be the same as avg. pubs beginning the next year? What's the dif. between AVG and MAX? Shouldn't it be the number baptised? or figure in the number DF? or what happened? Thank you. Anyone else know? Sometimes I believe that someones cooking the books.

hardest conversation of my life
by metaspy inmoments ago, i talked to my mom.. i told her that i was taking some time off from going to meetings and service.. the conversation went down hill from there.. as her usual she just dismissed my reasons as if they meant nothing.. i pointed to the child molestations as my main reason for leaving.. "you are being over-sensitive", "jehovah takes care of things in his own time", "rely on jehovah".
those were the catch phrases of the conversation.. a new one was: "what have you been reading?".
i have a hard time standing up to my mother.

Younger Man, remember ONE THING!!! You are not accountable to MAN! In years gone by, my but how I would trimble at the thought that OH! The Elders are coming !!! If you are of the mind set that you still have a spiritual need, then you are accountable to God. You owe no man an explanation for yur actions. Remember, they are men,(some Mice) no need to get into a debate with them, as this will only give them more cause to suspect you of some wrongdoing. The elders LOVE to impute wrong motive into every inaction on our part. As for your mother, love her with all your heart, for one day she may be gone and then you will wish that you had been kinder to her. But, she is not your spitual head, you are no longer living in her household. You alone are responsible for your actions, and ask her to respect you for the indivuality that you so badly yearn for now. OH! And don't you dare EVER marry a witness, she'll drag you back into the mire.

Hi all....wow
by -Tank inhello folks.
i posted one topic in the "relationships" section of this board, but just wanted to say a few words, and introduce myself, i am tank.
i was just curious, this is a jw board, i was expecting to find 80% of the members, or posts, to be of diehard, hardcore jw's, trying to preach there beliefs or there views, but yet, almost every thread i read has to do with someone leaving, already left, or a story of when they left, nonetheless, all the stories lead away from the jw religion.

Good Job Tank! I like so many others were born into the borg. I got out at 13 by the grace of my unbelieving father, told my mother she didn't have to force us kids to go to meetings. Got dragged back in at 25. Been out now for 2 years, my choice. Tank, seeing as how you never got sucked into this muck, you have an opportunity to take advantage of the sitution. By what you learn here, you can reason with that poor unfortunate soul that once cared so much about you that she would have made your life unbearable. Good Job young man. "

It certainly didn't end in 1975. In 1974, I had been away from the borg for 11 years. Happily married, had a new born baby, living without GUILT. Then my mother, a faithful witness, now deceased, dragged my unbelieving wife into the muck. Well, of course my sife says to me"How could you ever have left such a wonderful org"? She was also influenced by my sooo righteous sister in-law, who guilted me into believing that Arm. was coming in 1975 and that I was going to be DESTROYED!!!!Well, I here I am. 32 years after being baptised, wasted all those years and still no end in sight. Until now, when I have been learning so much from my new found friends HERE! NO, Lightning hasn't come down out of heaven, friends have come and gone from the borg. Nothing has changed in an org. that is supposed to be enlightened by the FDS, which has virtually nothing to to with the writing and teachings(feeding the sheep). Today, I live for my self and my wife. We enjoy a life free from deadlines and payless paydays(promises of paradise and milk and honey). The end will come at the time that I have passed away, full and satisfied with the remainder of the life that I make of it.

Excellant! I love it! And you are very well infromed indeed. This parctice is not limited to only elders or for that matter adults. I have been around the dubs for over 50 years, finally opened my eyes. Please refer to my first posting. This is a fact. PM works for me

Mom almost burnt the turkey
by mrsjones5 inmy parents and sister came to visit for a few days before thanksgiving (they left the day of) so i decided to cook the turkey dinner the day before turkey day.
i had the greens in the crockpot and the dressing was already made when i started the bird, it was a small one (about 12 pounds) so it wasn't going to take long to roast.
i was doing my favorite martha stewart white wine and butter turkey and had just got it going when my sister declared that she wanted to step out for a short while to go to her fav gallery shop in my town.

I just love the Holidays!! While my wife was at work yesterday, I decided to surprise her by putting up the new, self lighting Festivus Pole.LMAO. Hey, like George Costanza said" Festivus for the rest of us," right? Ok, so .I get it out of the box, brand new. It's in 4 sections, 9 1/2 footer. Put this section here , that one there, etc. Then, you have to find the internal extension cords to make the self lighting lights to light. So. I kinda lean into the thing, it's standing in front of me, all 9 1/2 feet of it and ZING!!!I liked to poke my eye out!!! yup, leaned right into one of those festivus branches poked me right into the inside corner of my eye! So, here I am, automatic tears flowing out my eye, had to keep checking in the mirror that it wasn't blood or viceral fluid. Here i am today, nice black eye and all. GEE!! Aren't the Holidays fun??No, really, I am enjoying my life now. And to think, I missed out on this for over 50 years. My house has all the tradional lights around the roof, really pretty, little lighted reindeer in the yard pulling Santas sleigh. COOOOOOOL

Will the JW's get a new CEO???
by horrible life inwhen a team has a couple or more losing seasons, they fire the head coach.
when a company starts losing money, the shareholders want a new ceo.
when a company keeps making mistakes, and the ceo, is taking the company, in a direction that the shareholders don't agree with, they get a new ceo.

A couple years ago, I was sitting drinking coffe with my newly re-instated brother, been out for 25 years, now all refired up about the Truth. Somehow the subject of the hierarchy of the wts came up. I made the statement to him that there were people who were WHEELS in the wts. OH MY! What do you mean???? That's not so, everyone is equal, blahblahblah. I let it go lest I be tagged a trouble maker. I was still active at the time but leaning hard towards the Bright Side. There is no reasong with some people is there. Why are these people so blind? I would love for him to see the discussions here. I am waiting to hear the fallout from him and others related to me . We all know that things will "Business as Usual "at the wts. Nothing changes unless one of them becomes disgusted with whole state of affairs that has beset the wts and realise that they are just like everyone eles in the WORLD . The Wheels will say we handled things correctly, now lets print some more mags and exert a little more control over the Lemmings.
