by lovelylil ini wanted to post this research i did that helped convince my husband a few years back that it was o.k.
to celebrate christmas, despite the objections he was taught by the watchtower.
hopefully this will help others out there ease their conscience about this particular day.

i was actually looking up missing verses and other information.

Here's the reason for the 3% jump in publishers for the past year
by sir82 init is immigration that explains the vast majority of the increase.. who is it that immigrates?
the poorest of the poor, the desperate ones that would be dead from starvation or execution by gangs/guerillas within 5 years anyway.
these were not the ones being converted in their home countries - when you have to work 14-18 hours a day, 7 days a week just to feed your family, there is no time to "study", attend meetings, go out in field servce, etc.. so, they go to their new country.

EEEYUP! Dey it is! I have always wondewred about the stats that the wts puts out. But, as you know, they have always gotten there rocks off by putting out numbers. For those of us here, we all did it ourselves, fudging our own service slips so that we wouldn't be asked the BIG question? UUUUH brother? You could be devoting more time to the field circus, we would like to advance you in the cong.

Free to Re-Marry
by Grouper inif one confesses adultry to their spouse, does one also have to confess it to the elders in order for the spouse to be free to re-marry?
watchtower refrences would be appreciated.. a friend recently confessed adultry to his wife but she wants him (he hasn't gone to meeting in years) to confess to the elders or write a letter about the deed, she says she needs it inorder for her to be free to re-marry.
is this true?.

He has no obligation to the elders for anything. So what if he confessed to her, she has the burden of proof to make the claim to be free. If they were to appraoch him he can deny,deny,deny! If she wants to divorce him, go for it. She has to have evidence of 2 witness to the event, not just his confession. He said, she said. That is of course if he wants to be a butt about it. He can make her live in misery by not going to the elders. And they can't do a thing about it. he just needs to keep his nose clean after she divorces him. But, I have seen cases where the ex has hired or enlisted the help of do-rights to stake out his home and watch where he goes and with whom to establish the facts. But, if he does remarry himslef, she's free of course. Why carry out the charade if he wants to be free of the dubs himself.

Above all things...BE POSITIVE! Do not try to re-create the person, he has already been there, done that and got the battle damage and TEE shirt to prove it. lead by example, not by thought or word. If you can be a positive role model, time will only tell. You can't BUY love, you have to earn RESPECT. The only thing you can do is redirect his attention away from the negative impacts in his life and try and place his focus on the positive things that you have accomplished in yours. You are going to be his LIFE! Don't denigrate his mother, he already knows her. Just love him and cherish the opportunities you have with HIM. It's all about HIM in your life now friend.

Bad Expensive Appliances.....
by restrangled inlet me tell you, bosch from germany is out!
i have a very high end oven that cost us $1200.00 (floor model ) originally $1600.00 two years ago, its also a convection oven.. while i was broiling some garlic bread on "low" tonight a portion of the top element decided to catch fire and then quit working.
i keep my oven very clean.

WTS Higher Education Policy
by besty ina couple of topics recently have made me think about exactly how cynical are the wts when it comes to their higher education policy for the rank and file.. first one was mavie's about her forthcoming jc which prompted me to flick through richard dawkins the god delusion.

Look around you and think back on all those "differant people" that somehow just showed up??The only ones that were "normal" were those who had had no choice but to be forced into this as children by their dub parents. Weirdest People you've met while Witnessing!!! {Nut cases}
by Witness 007 ini once called on a guy who invited us straight in...then told us he was "lazarus son of god.
" he had a cazy look in his eye, and would repeat this line every few minutes.
the brother with me was trying to "reason from the scriptures" that he in fact could not be lazarus...i just wanted to leave.

Back in 1975, I went to the door with a childhood friend who eventually got dragged into the borg. Ok, it's 9:45 am, nice summer morning. The door opens, and here stands this gorgeous, I mean GORGEOUS blonde wearing nothing but a sheer nightgown open all the way down. I saw everything for that split second until my jw good sense said" don't touch or look at the unclean thing". True story. Gorgeous!
