  Elderly JW sister calls me today, much different reaction than earlier call from Sister Naive

  after my phone call today with sister naive (see link here), i really didn't want to talk to any more jws.

  i have written about an elderly sister in my old congo that calls me periodically.

  she is 90 and her daughter is 65, they still live independently in a small home.

  i sort of envy your relationship, snakes
  but am delighted to hear you and your
  beloved will be visiting your friend without
  guilt or shame being heaped upon you!

  the elderly JW who WAS the surrogate g'ma to
  my kids is widowed in the last 5 yrs, but utterly
  unapproachable, in that the party line is all she has
  left.... and i cannot abide it so there has been a
  traumatic amputaion of affection.... and i dont fault
  her for a minute.... over 60 years of living the b0rg
  has left her little in the way of non-judgmental capacity
  to simply enjoy the company of "those not of our kind"

  my first question is just for the atheist.

  why do you guys spend so much time discussing and researching a book you believe to be fiction?

  What's with all the 'Imminent' nonsense?

  could it be that the proximity of 2014 is at the heart of it?.

  i have no contact with jw's - except on this board - but my wife does at times with her family.

  imminent is the cry of the sky for the jw's it seems.. i recall the years leading up to 1975 with a lot of that sort of thing.

  81 years old and still going fairly strong.

  my older sister was the first one to leave the dubs in our 3rd gen jw family.

  alcoholic, physically and emotionally abusive...
  good times! miss you, mom...

  led by example tho, that one did...
  showed me what life would be like
  if i became bitter and brittle....

  keeping in theme with the derail
  in spite of the timeliness of the
  big nooze about the big A

  my daughter, now 21, has multiple
  mental health diagnosis, leading to
  a potential for extreme anxiety....
  recently triggered by an auto accident...

  because she has had a history of
  counseling and therapy, one phone call
  (to me) in a state of near hysteria was
  all it took for her to get back to a grounded
  state and allow her a chance to use the
  skills she was taught to be able to cope
  in this rough and tumble world...

  if you live constantly in this heightened anxiety,
  your physical/mental health is going to deteriorate
  
  get some help! real help from professionals

  easy like sunday morning...

  ahhhhh!

  a lay in, slowly pottering around, doing whatever i like, a full english breakfast at 11ish, meeting freinds in town for coffee in the arvo... dodging all the jw's waving their mags as i walk through.... now that we are free, what do you do with your sunday mornings?.

  stayed abed until nearly 7...
  got the dogs fed and walked our
  rainy day route, only about .8 mile
  had a great cuppa joe and cinnamon toast
  and bananas and peaches! YUM

  watched the special edition
  of Meet the Press on Sen Kennedy

  got both kids off to work
  one @ 9 am, the other 10 am...
  took the online final for my
  herbal medicine class and
  then got to watch some Nat Geo

  sunday mornings rock!

  What response would you give to this JW illustration ?

  my jw in laws send us these types of emails every once in a while .

  never is there any real personal correspondence from them and it irritates me.

  i have sent emails back before critiquing the logic of some of their emails.. i will be sending a response to this latest one ,and i would appreciate some ideas .. i know many of you on this forum are so excellant with your words i would enjoy your input .. the first thing that came to my mind after i read the illustration was "i am so glad i am no longer on the endless tread mill of witness logic that has you running forever from scary imaginary spirit beings ".

  matter

  that is what it comes down to

  we are all composed of matter
  that is the legacy of exploding stars

  untold manifestations contributing
  to the assemblage that is "us",
  destined to pass along through
  to countless other manifestations!

  consciousness is the question...
  i suspect it is terminal so i choose
  to live this life as if this is the one
  brush with consciousness available
  for me.... and hope to be wrong!!!
