what did you do after leaving or separating from JW's in regards to religion?
by kriptonian7 ini have been struggling to find my place.
i still consider my self christian...but the more i have been learning about my old faith, its been making me feel like i need to find something else that makes sense to me.. i know im not aethiest.
i have always felt that there was a higher power out there.. agnostic?

i stopped confusing religiosity with spirituality
i involved myself in genuine charitable works
and continue to look for opportunities to make
real contributions to the whole of mankind....
not just "the approved" formsi wont wrap myself in the atheist label... yet...
so i settle for saying i am a sentimental diest...
because i have spent a half century believing
there is a reason for religion and there is a
vestigial attachment to the notion.... -

To Current and Former Elders
by Styxx ini wanted to say a few things to current and former elders.
it was really a post by alltimejeff on 10/1/2009 that got me thinking about this and i address a few things that he says here.
but i dont want to single him out because i really think that he is typical of many, and he did in fact apologize for his actions at the end of his post.

if i have the temerity
to ask of my children
forgiveness for having
decimated their childhoods
with a blind allegiance to
a cult, then how could i
possibly withhold the same
from any former elder who
publically flagellates himself
for the role he may have
played as a company man?styxx:
karma is produced 4 ways- through thoughts
- through words
- through actions that we perform ourselves
- through actions others do under our instructions
IF any of it is true or has merit
that last one would have the
GB crapping their pants.....their karma is about to run over their dogma....

by rockmehardplace injust got a pm from blessedchild that joined 5 hours ago wanting me to send money to africa to feed them since their mother disowned them because they do not go to the kingdom hall.
a teacher let them use a computer to ask google for help and they found me.

How Many JWs Stay In & Are Not "True Believers"?
by minimus inhow many are simply there because they don't care about religion and "where would they go"?.
how many have sold their souls just to remain in "friendships" and "family"?.
i think there are tons of jehovah's witnesses in name only.. .
-

if the question is about how many
professed JWs are just hanging
with the hive rather than dealing with
the trouble that can be stirred for
having a variant position on any of
a number of issues....i would think a whole lot more than we know!

WHY am I the last to know?
by babygirl30 inabout 2 mos ago...my parents decided that because i refused to continue my 'reinstatement' process and quit going to meetings - that they were now going to shun me after having regular contact for 10 mos!
i was upset, but accepted it.
although their method was harsh!

such a wicked preversion of family...
so sorry your parents are so controlled
that they are willing to squander their
parent-child bond at the whim of a cultsorry indeed

Should I Formally Apologize?
by lifelong humanist inwhat do you members think - is there any mileage in 'formally' apologizing to my 4 sons (now aged 20 - 34) of my stupid jw indoctrination during their formative years?
i still have pangs of guilt.
yet, on balance, i have to admit that it couldn't have been too damaging as they are all totally out of the cult.

i apologized to my 4 children...
ranging in age from 24- 16
at this point....they have been gracious,
telling me that they understand
i was not trying to corrupt their
childhoods, but secure them an
"eternal life in paradise"...none of us linger there, out loud...
but it remains one of the biggest
regrets of my life.... my issuethat does not answer your
question of "should you"....
just lets you know you
arent the alone in having
wondered .... -

Hi - new kid on th block
by nearlyfree ini have been looking at this website for about 2 months now and feel i am now ready to say hi and intoduce myself.i dont want to give out too much info at this point in time as i still am in the org, but have only been to 2 meetings since the district convention in august and last time i went out on service was in march.
i was basically raised in the truth as my parents became jw when i was 2. i was married in my late teens and after 21 years of being married to a total control freak he left me (yay).
anyway since me ex left, i had been doing a lot of thinking about being a witness, and i wasnt really going to a lot of meetings - just didnt feel like it.

Impromptu Survey - 2 Types of Reasons to Leave
by AdaMakawee ini was thinking, not counting those who are df'd for "conduct," it seems to me that there are two type of exjws that leave.
by this i mean the ones that woke up and came to their senses while still inside.
1. those who found doctrinal errors and couldn't stay with the lies.. 2. those who found that there was no love and left because of the betrayal of emotions, and realization that by this fruit you knew they were not the ones, their lack of love.
