i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.
reckoning back to what lured me in,
i have no doubt she sincerely meant
what she said....
my response to that might have been
"i appreciate your concern, and i return
mine to you because of the stress you
endure because of your beliefs... have
a great day"

advocacy group PFLAG, serving on
its board, as well as actively supporting
political candidates with signage and
campaign bumper stickers....
i dont need (or actually want) friendship
with any of the JWs, since i could NOT
abide any chatter about the truth TM
so even IF there is a thaw and some
sort of continued nodding acknowledgement,
i dont think i would step beyond common
courtesy...

for PFLAG and a political campaign... you know,
the kind of thing you notice on the way up to
a door to get a feel of who might answer ....
it was very causal, very quick and very awkward.....
THEN, we end up in the fruit/veg section together...
more awkwardness, as i toss off a compliment
about the hair color she is sporting, she laughs
and says it is "this or grey" and then leaves....
....only to COME BACK to tell me that my son
who works as a checker at the grocery store
"is always so pleasant and helpful"
true, it was hardly a revisit to the pretty close
relationship we had one time shared... i mean
really, i attended her at both her hospital births
as a labor coach, spent many nights at HER home
away from my family helping her take care of the
twins when they were newborn.... and done some
of the things for and with her that REAL friends do.....
but her family is (or at least was) HARD CORE...
so why would she go out of her way to even say "hi?"
i dunno, it seems like there could be a chink in the armor
and some JWs arent as compliant as they once were...
hard to say.... all i know is that i was pretty surprised

policy and education about LGBT civil rights .... i was never this engaged with
living or as happy to be alive whilst a dr0ne in the b0rg.... thanks, laddie, for
