  Atheist: What words of comfort do you give when you find out someone is terminally ill?

  i found out someone i know is terminally ill. before i would put my jw hat and give them comfort from the bible and the hope of resurrection.

  but now that i dont believe in paradise nor in heaven what do you say to someone who is terminally ill and still has some religious beliefs?.

  then offer to be a flesh and blood support
  doing the things rebel8 suggested....

  just recently talked to an old friend still in whose witness son in law left his daughter for another and subsequently his daughter got hooked up with that ladys husband.

  pretty disingenuous (surprise!) generalization....

  the article is ridiculous in its assertion that the
  described scenario isnt being played out WITHIN
  the organization.... everything they label as "worldly"
  can be found in their ranks......

  BTW... as for me and mine,
  OF COURSE there are difficulties
  and errors in judgment, but by
  and large we are "a happy people!"
  almost to the point of giddiness!

  ya know, my FtM transman son read the local
  article to me while we were waiting to meet
  with someone as a follow-up to an anti-bullying
  seminar a consortium of local districts had recently
  conducted (we had been panelists)

  substitute any/all other "minorities" ....

  would you use the handicap stall that is big and roomy ... even if other smaller stalls were available?.

  unless there is information i have not received
  the stalls are not restricted to use by handicapped only

  if someone wheels in, they would have a priority for use
  but even they would have to wait if another handicapped
  person were ahead of them
