Like most people commented, it depends on the person and circumstances. I was brought up by two witness parents, father an elder from before I was born. He was a great parent but my mother was always looney. The religion just brought out more of her crazy, controlling characteristics. I am grateful for their determination in raising my siblings and I in the safest manner possible for them. Fortunately I didn't suffer any physical or sexual abuse as some I knew(in and out of the JW org) But the way it messed me up in the head is not to say that witness families are the best environment. Some of the friendships I made from the hall were with young pioneer girls like me and the worst backstabbers and cheap tricks. At the same time I had friends at work who I could better trust with my secrets and my man! Okay I'm not going to ramble on about this but it happens!

Educating yourself means you'll have more confidence in yourself and why would they want that? The oppty to bash and beat you up at every meeting or assembly is priceless. You can run around trying to do better and find out you're still missing the mark. Besides, you would have an open mind and really start to think for yourself. Heaven forbid that!

Hey, just wondering what's going on in people's lives. I'm doing okay and my sons are growing so fast it seems. Little by little my nonwitness family is getting the word that I'm reaching out to them. I've established some nice relationships with aunts, uncles and cousins that I didn't even know growing up. This has helped me too since I was so used to being around a lot of people. Not that the friendships I had in the hall were always sincere ones, but I did feel lonely when I first left. Last spring/summer was a rough time and I didn't really enjoy the vacations and things my husband planned for us. I kept getting so upset over the comments and views of the witness family. It overshadowed everything. I feel like I've come a long way since. Just wanted to share...Hope some good things are happening for other people too.

Welcome! I think you'll go through periods like this when the future seems bleak. Don't watch too much of the news, its depressing and designed to make you live in fear. Much like the borg, come to think of it...

So they're worried about gas prices??? What about the riding around out in field circus? Why don't they stop wasting gas and annoying people. I just got a call from my pioneer mom yesterday for money. Every month she runs out of money towards the end of the month. Her social security shouldn't be spent on gas riding all over the place. I help her out because she's my mom and I love her. But it does piss me off...

Is the WT banning vasectomies?
by B_Deserter ini talked to a dub friend of mine who said they had a new "it's a personal choice, but jehovah will kill you if you do it" article about vasectomies.
basically, the reasoning is supposedly that since jehovah gave us our reproductive organs, tampering with them is wrong if not medically necessary.

The nerve of these people trying to control every aspect of someone's life! It kills me. And I know that I could not go back to living like that, always checking stupid articles before I made a decision. What a burden that was...

Boy, for some of my family this is going to mean the end is ever closer! That's all they say to me anyway. They'll be wondering how I can be so comfortable out in the world when all of these wonderful new changes are taking place.

Some JW's are sooooo inconsiderate...
by rache31 ini was at the eye doctor yesterday, after an emergency room visit.
i had an injury to my eye, fortunately minor, and my doctor wanted to examine it.
two witnesses were in the office waiting room and spotted me right away.
