Need help and advice.

i have been having discussions with my brother who is an elder and his wife.

we are very close.

my sister in law wants to have a bible discussion with me.

I find it best to never argue. As them or say to them.... These are the scriptures that now have me believing this way. Just plant seeds. As Christians we are not the ones who do the work. We are just he seed planters.... It is the Holy Spirit that makes it grow.

As for Jesus Deity... here are a few. Hebrews 2:9 "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form."

Most Popular JW Jobs???

what are some of the more popular jobs jws seem to flock to in your opinion?

personally, the latest trend in my area is school bus driver as well as school bus monitor.

i can think of six jws who drive school buses and two who are monitors.

No one mentioned realestate. Yes, there was many cleaning jobs... but for quite sometime there was a large run of those going into realestate as you could make your own hours.

It must have just been a thing in out congregation.

Does it ever get easier?

my heart is palpitating even as i write this.

it was only recently that i was introduced to this site.

i had long had doubts but could never bring myself to peer over the wall built in my head about the evils of apostates.

My heart goes out to you. Although I have been away for many years, your post brought back very vivid recollections.

I was raised a JW and was a pioneer. I left in the early 80's and lost my family and friends. I remember the panic attacks all too well. I spent 16 years away from God because I really believed what they told me. That God wanted nothing more to do with me and would not even hear my prayers.

It was many years later I began to read the bible again. I read it fresh, with out the Watchtower glasses on. I could not believe how different the things were that I was reading from what I had been brought up to believe.

Yes.... this religion in particular makes people selfrighteous. But the bible says that only Jesus makes us righteous before God. The bible says that we can not earn our salvation and love. We just have it. It is a gift from God. No amount of meetings or door to door service earns brownie points with God. HIs love is there just because he loves us.

Don't give up!! Please read the bible fresh. Especially the book of John is a good one to start out with. What a difference it made when I finally understood the real God!!

Former "Elder's Wives" reactions to "brief" Elder's Meetings...............

ladies, since maverick posted his topic, i just had to post one for us ladies!

in fact, i wanted to just share a nightmare basically on the same topic, that i had last night.............just a refresher course on my status: i was a dub for twenty-five years, met a worldly guy when i was 18 and he came in to the "truth".

we dated, then got married at 21. we were married for twenty years, then i told him i wanted to end the marriage.

Have any of you considered your ex spouses were gay and in denial? If there was next to no sex and if they had to get up and wash right away they could have been gay, but trying to live a straight JW life.

Question about Satan being thrown down to earth

remember revelation 12:7. there was war in heaven and micheal and his angels battled the dragon and his angels.

then satan was thrown down to earth and was like a roaring lion.. didn't the jw's say that this happened in 1914?

Didn't the JW's say that this happened in 1914? I seem to remember they did. Well, I was just reading Luke 10:18 where Jesus himself said: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

Now if Jesus was tellling his apostles that 2,000 years ago.......how could satan have been thrown out of heaven in 1914. Just curious. Did I remember how they interpeted Revelation right? Does anyone see what I mean?

I remeber them well too. When I was little I was afraid of them. When I was older I felt sorry for them. Yet, when I was a little older still, I found myself curious as to what they had to say. I never dared ask them or anyone else what they were really about.

Funny, as a I look back now I remember a pioneer couple that was new to our kingdom hall. They belonged to another hall and when they moved they started coming to our kingdom hall. They were in the "IN CROWD" as they were the fine pioneer examples.

I remember the meeting when it was announced they were disfellowshiped!! Everyone was stunned. The first thought was adultry or something. It ended up they had written a DA letter and had become "born again christians". I could not fathom what anyone could have told them to make them turn away from the organization. I mean.... it was the real truth, wasn't it????? I was always curious what they could have learned that was different than what I had been taught. I mean, I really wanted to know.
Again, I dared not ask.

All these years later I now understand. After being disfellowshiped myself in the early 80's I left God because I thought the organization and HIM was one in the same. I spent 16 years in limbo land. I was hurt but lived a make pretend I was alright. In 1996 I began trying to figure the whole mess out and spent over 3 years really trying to understand God. I was shocked beyond belief when I read things in the bible that were so different than what I had been raised to believe. I became born again in 1999 and now understand what those scary apostates knew. Wish I had figured it our sooner.

Will you ever meet God or Jesus?

i know this is bound to open up a lot of topics here, especially those who want to make clear their opinion that god does not exist.. that being said, this is for those who do believe in god.. .

do you believe in a heaven, and if so, when you get there, in your opinion, will you ever personally walk up to god or jesus and talk to them face to face?.

as i left the witnesses, i have gotten a better understanding of the bible, and my personal belief is that we do have a heavenly hope.

Keep up your questioning and reading. I found the truth in my old NWT.. You can't hide the real truth no matter what version you use. I use the NIV now.

I can show you some very subtle and not so subtle changes they have made though.
