A few years ago at a meeting (During a Watchtower study) the brother doing the sound didn't turn the mic all the way down, and one of the brothers who was handling the mic's was in the bathroom (with the mic in his suit coat pocket) during the reading of one of the paragraphs and was talking with someone else about this young 20 something sister (who was really HOT, and who just so happened to wear a tight skirt that day). Needless, to say we all (including the sister) heard his "GRAPHIC" comments about her during the reading of the paragraph. He came out of the bathroom with everyone looking at him, and he didn't know why! I think he got privately reproved after that, but it was funny!

Real Good News
by superman inthis must be a sign of what will lie ahead for the j-dubs (at least in the united states).
this last weekend at the special day circuit assembly i went to, not a single person got baptized (zero, zip, nada) and the funny part was that they still had to give the baptism talk because it was already in the program schedule.
hopefully people are starting to catch on and we'll have a few more "zero baptism" assemblies.

Local needs: 40% of the congregation are irregular at meetings
by truthseeker inwell, our local needs talk was a bit out of the ordinary - normally it's something mundane like improving bible studies.. after harping on about the good things the congregation is doing, we got to the meat.. there are 100 publishers in the cong - 40% of them are irregular meeting attenders.. the elder said that those who are irregular at meetings are also irregular on field service.. he also said the elders would continue to shepherd these ones, yet most of us never get as shepherding call.. he said that those who've lost their joy feel this way because they don't fellowship often enough and lack appreciation for sacred things.. there are those who are liberal, manifest an independent spirit and have worldly associations.. he even said that those who need to hear this counsel are those who are missing.. .
oh well.
i suppose it's good news..

You should consider your hall to blessed, hopefully you'll hit the 100% mark soon. The hall that I should be going to, is nothing but old-timers, so they'll probably always have a high attendance. But most of the halls with younger people, are going to be dying off in the coming future. with less and less young brothers "reaching out" to take the lead, and with the cost of living going up and more and more families having to have both spouses working (no-more stay at home pioneer wives). The numbers of everything are going to decrease. Plus it just seems like more-and-more people are sick of the 'Org' tightening the noose on everything they do, and they're finally saying 'F%#k it' and leaving.

Did you ever know of someone who had a "study"?
by bluesbreaker59 inthen you went with them on their "study", and it was with some dimwitted person who could barely tie their shoes?
or some single parent woman with 5 kids living in a shack?
or some lonely older person that just wants a "friend" to talk to?.

My favorite would be when some "hot" pioneer sister would call on some middle aged man who showed a crap-load of interest and then once she would try to bring a brother along to start a study/turn the call over, the middle aged man ironically enough would lose his enthusiasm and interest for the bible (Go-figure)!

I truly appreciate this website and all of the posters on it. It’s nice to be able to have a support group like this. I honestly don’t think I would be able to function (without losing my mind) if it weren’t for this website. However, if it weren’t also for this website I probably wouldn’t have had my eyes “opened” to the truth about the “troof” and would probably still be active in the Org (and miserable/depressed) and blaming all of my problems on Satan, not realizing that my feelings of misery/depression were actually from the org itself. I don’t always post, but sometimes just reading other people’s post and seeing that they’re dealing with the same thing as me really does help (I see I’m not alone). I’ve noticed that since I’ve become apostate I’m not so uptight, judgmental, confused, and naive. The only problem is that I’m still stuck partially living a lie for the sake of my family and the few close friends I have that are still in. I occasionally go to the meetings (as token service) and to see old friends, but now that I don’t believe any of it, it’s getting even harder and harder to sit through entire meetings and listen to the garbage. I find myself shying away from people that are considered spiritually strong, (by org standards) including once close friends, because now I see that they are for the most part for worst (as far as being blind/brainwashed/power hungry). I live in a small town (am not disfellowshiped) but it’s at the point where I try to go grocery shopping/run errands at night just to avoid seeing other witnesses. Now when I’m with witnesses friends and they start gossiping about someone who is considered “spiritually weak”, recently disfellowshiped, recently inactive, or some of the rules/policies of the org I find myself trying to quickly change the subject just because it almost make me sick to even talk about this religion. I just wanted to vent because now I’m at the point where I almost want to simply DA myself (just so Elders will stop calling and trying to “ENcouRAGE” me) but haven’t because of my family. It’s hard to have your family relationships held hostage by a religion. Anyone else feel like this?????

Anyone else ever do this
by superman ini remember how much emphasis the org used to put on studying your publications, and how looking at other peoples books during the meeting was like seeing a lazar show with bright, hot, multicolored, florescent highlighted pages.
but i never personally enjoyed studying (even when i was more hardcore in it) so since i used to have privileges/responsibilities one of the requirements was to study for all the meetings, so before the meetings i would take a hot yellow and florescent blue marker and quickly just start marking up my books so that it looked like it was studied.
sometimes to look even more spiritual i would take a pen and start writing random crap in the margins, even scribble lines so from far away it looked likes cursive.

I remember one time after the meeting this older couple (an elder and his wife) who always sat near me said, “How much they really appreciated the detailed effort and time I took preparing for all the meetings”. Anyway, I know I’m not the only one who committed spiritual fraud at the hall, anyone else here ever do anything to that effect (i.e. pad service time, lie about going to meetings while on vacation, make up an experience about a good call in service, make up a fact or statistic to support your comment at a meeting)?

Hey guys, I’m inactive (as far as meetings go) in my local town. However, I have friends outside of my local territory that I hang with. Anyway, about three weeks ago I went to hang out with this large group of witnesses and there was this girl that I meet who asked for my number. I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal, so I gave it to her. She’s been texting and calling me quite a bit since that time (didn’t really think all that much about it). It wasn’t that big a deal up until a few days ago when she asked me if I was interested in her. I told her that I honestly wasn’t (bad thing to say), she went on about I how I should have known what her intentions were, and that according to the society that if you talk with someone of the opposite sex on a daily basis that you are technically dating them. Is that actually true about the societies definition of dating???? Long story short, I talked with one of my friends from that area (who knows this girl) and he said that she was going to most likely get the elders involved, because she felt that I lead her on. Seeing how I’m a “closeted” apostate, I could never bring myself to even think about dating or marrying a hard-core J-dub (let alone a pioneer); I just don’t want any trouble with the elders. But my question is this; is that actually a rule if you talk with someone you’re considered dating them? I need your help, just in case they start hassling me!

KLS, I used to go to Ocononmowoc all the time and visit friends. I like to call it the OC! That's a really nice area of the state. It sounds like your husband is still in, you don't have to post names, but do you have any kids that are in???? I'm just wondering if I might know them!
