There was a hall that was merged a few years back in my area...And talks of another two consildating. I agree that the quality of elders is going way down. I'm a pretty far gone fader, but will go back on occasion to a meeting (mainly for family) and all the bright, smart, caring, intellegent, funny, charming ones I remember growing up with have been replaced by Cold, roboting and boring elders. It's funny because once an elder steps down it's almost like they retire or lose their identity, they usually end up sitting in the back during the meetings and don't do anything (no commenting, no mics, no talks, nothing). I went to a meeting recently after not having gone in about six months, and the speaker was so boring and the talk was so "dumb-downed", a monkey would think they were being taken for a moron.

7 Congregations in My Area, VT, MA, NH, Have Been Cut to 3!!!
by Seeker4 ini got this verified today.
seven congregations that were in my old circuits now are only three.. north and south gardner, ma were merged.. north and south claremont, nh were merged.. north adams, ma and bennington, vt were merged.. the wilmington, vt congregation was dissolved.. there has been discussion to merge the keene and swanzey, nh congregations, but there are some strong personalities among the two bodies of elders opposing that, so it is not likely to happen, though i hear that keene has got some big problems in its boe and very poor service, etc.. that's 9 congregations within about a 70 mile radius that are all seeing some serious trouble.. anyone hearing anything similar happening where they are?.

I've lived in both small towns and big cities. I would have to say that small JW's are by far the worst. They tend to be much fanatical, close minded, creepy, and wierd. Not too mention it is so much harder to fade if you live in a small town. I actually had some JW's stake out at my job (near my parked car) and wait for me to come out so that they could "encouRAGE" me to how I was doing, and try to get me to come back. So what's your vote
1 vote for Small Town JW's

Some JW's just stopped by
by superman ini am at my girlfriends place (she lives in a completely different territory from me and i don't know any of the jw's around here), right now she's at work so i was just listening to music and reading this site and all of the sudden the door-bell rings (must have been jehoova's direction).
i look out her window, and i see brother "old as dirt" with a tacky, out of style leisure suit, and one those stupid looking magazine purses (you know the one that they hold under their arms) and the bible in his hand, and with him is sister "desperate looking, 40 year old virgin" probably a pioneer (you know the type, the semi-homely, probably single pioneer that just spews desperation out of their pores).
well i was going to go down, answer the door, and mess with them (this area is a few hours from where i'm from so nobody knows me here), and do some undercover apostatizing.

Well I was going to go down, answer the door, and mess with them (this area is a few hours from where I'm from so nobody knows me here), and do some undercover apostatizing. But then it clicked in my head "what if her (my girlfriends) parents (who are still JW's) sent them here to try to ENcouRAGE her to come back, and the JW's knew she lived here"? We are both faders and it would look bad if her boyfriend came down looking like he obviously spent the night and was talking "apostate" talk. That would probably be the end for the both of us.However, now that I'm on the other side of the door it makes me realize how stupid we must have looked going out to peoples houses early on cold mornings (cause it is really cold here right now) to give them crappy magazines. I wanted to get a cup of coffee but now that I know they are in the area and 10:30am is approaching it is probably best for me to stay away from any coffee houses (or McDonalds).

Were You One Of Those Witnesses Who Lived In Your Own Little World?

I was more afraid of them (worldly people) in that I always thought if I befriended them they would lie, cheat, and steal from me (At least that was what I was always told as a JW growing up). I ran with a tight group of JW friends but always seem to hop from one group to another because of either one group being label "weak/bad association" or not being able to fully trust anyone in another group. Now that me and my girlfriend have left the JW's we have made some really good friends who aren't judgmental, dishonest, and are actually loyal (which is more then I can say for many of my old JW friends).

Whats the Craziest thing you've heard a JW blame Satan for????
by superman inas most of you know, that evil spirit creature known as satan the devil is of course after jw's and only jw's.
i can remember this middle aged lady at my old hall give a comment on how "satan works in the most mysterious ways against jehovah's people, he even has the teachers give out more homework on meetings nights so that he can make it more difficult for the young ones to attend the meetings".
at that time i was hardcore in it, and even thought this lady is a "looney-tune".

At that time I was hardcore in it, and even thought this lady is a "looney-tune". There are millions of students in this country and Satan gives out extra homework just to get back at a few hundred JW kids. Needless to say her daughters must have used that excuse on her because now both of them have left the "troof" (go figure). Oh, and I've got one more, this J-Dub Elder janitor (yeah I know you've never heard of a JW whose a janitor) got fired from one of his cleaning jobs and blamed it on Satan. Apparently he was so excited about going out in service that he didn't turn the lights off or lock the doors at his cleaning job. Well, it didn't take a genius to figure out what happened next. The next day a whole bunch of expensive sh*t was missing from the place and of course he wasn't bonded or insured(I guess insurance is a tool of the Devil) so they (business owner) fired and I think might have even sued him. But of course, it was Satan getting back at him for going out in service, not his own stupidity, that was to blame.Any other experiences to share???

Just conducting a little survey for all of you active members and lurkers of JWD. Just simply proving the importance and support of this website. For me personally, while I was still in JW land I had always ahd doubts but still generally believed it. However, after reading this website it killed any faith and any confusion I had for the religion. And now I am no longer a part of it (which is for the better). So my question for you in regards to the JW religion is this: "If not for this website 1. would still be in it, 2. Still believe it 3. Stayed in it 4. Gone back to it out loneliness or confusion (if you had left).

Funny JW memories/stories
by superman insince most of my memories of being a jw, are terrible(and i do mean most of them).
i figured i share one funny one.
one time back when they first started the new number 2 talk arrangement (switched to only doing bible readings, and not having to actually write a talk), i got a talk slip but lost it.a few weeks later i didn't realize i had a talk only until i got to the thursday night meeting, and the school overseer came up to ask me, "are you all set for your talk tonight"?

Oh yeah, One summer when I was out in service, it felt like a million degrees (with 100% humidity), so like any other "normal" human I figured it would be a good idea to take off my suit-coat and loosen my tie (bad idea). When me and this other guy got back in the car, I was told by this "looney-tune" older timer (every hall has one) that I should put my jacket back on and tighten my tie, his words were "We are doing this work for Jehovah, and we should always look presentable, as his workers"! Now I can only imagine how fanatical we must have looked to people whose houses we went to as they were in t-shirts, and shorts, and we're coming up to them (in full suits), sweating "bullets", looking like we just left a funeral. I often wondered why I never left the "troof" sooner. ):-(

Craziest thing you've ever been "counseled" for????
by superman ini know that this has been a popular post in the past.
but after my last post, it got me thinking.
i used to always use those stupid field service report slips as scratch paper.

I know that this has been a popular post in the past. But after my last post, it got me thinking. I used to always use those stupid field service report slips as scratch paper. You know the time, bible study, and those blue/yellow ones (can't exactly remember what those blue/yellow ones were used for). But one day, this family was visiting from a nearby state, and they seemed nice so I wanted to get their information (phone number, address, etc). I walked to the back got a time slip, wrote their information down on the back, and put it in my pocket. Little did I know I was being watched by the KH "Gestapo"! Brother "Holy-than-tho/Super Nazi" elder actually came up to me and said, "Those slips aren't intended for you to use as your own personal organizer", then he went into this whole speech about showing respect for what is god's and what is holy (I guess I didn't know that god viewed pieces of paper as holy), and how I'm watched by others and looked to as an example, and how I should be setting one, "Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah". Anyway, thats my story what's yours?????
