Law suits by the Society against websites
by isnrblog inon this site and others i have been reading about the watchtower society suing bloggers and website owners because they quoted the watchtowers publications.
a couple of observations.
if you quote a publication that was publically distributed by the millions of copies, how could you be liable?

Is the Watchtower Society running short of cash?

For what? That would generate some cash.

Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?
by isnrblog inmy family does not speak to me.
i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.
but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

I am completely shunned but It really doesn't bother me. I realized that I had to be true to myself.
They can only hurt you if you let them.

i am just about done reading the steve hassan book, " combatting cult mind control".
thought i would share some of the points here for newbies and all others to see just what a person exiting a cult, or jehovah's witnesses might go through psychologically so they can better know how to deal with the various emotions of anger, guilt , and sadness that can accompany leaving the witnesses.

I was a JW for 50 years and now out for 6. I really had no problem, in fact if I knew it was going to be this easy, I would have left 20 years ago.
I was held captive by the disfellowshipping thing. I dreaded it, as most of my family are Witnesses. But, now that I am out, I have not regretted it a bit. Honestly, Not talking to my family has actually been somewhat of a relief. I never realized what pains in the ass they were.
My kids are both late 20's and not Witnesses. So who cares about the rest. My son has lately thought of returning and I said do what you have to do. He did say that he would never shun me, but i think it would be hard for him to go back if he didn't.
We're all differant so I really do not feel qualified to give anyone advice except "to thine own self be true"

You would think so. I know that for years they would almost never respond to any negative news ect.
Now, they sue to have apostate websites shut down. That's a little paranoid to me.

I guess I am being paranoid. After all, there is no reason to suspect an organization that changes it's beliefs and denies it, brainwashes it's membership, is so secretive about who and how the NWT was translated and irresponsibly creates an situation perfect for pedophiles to practice their passions, among many other questionable practices.
Silly me!
