The WTS teaches that the 1000-year millenium starts right after Armageddon ends. It hasn't started yet.
It's true they believe Jesus became king in 1914. However that kingship (whatever it means) didn't start the 1000-year period.
jesus was enthroned and began ruling as king in 1914, which is why the wt are currently celebrating 100 years of kingdom rule.. but then we read in the feb 2014 study wt ("hail christ, the glorious king!
" par.
19): "he will complete his conquest by abyssing satan and his demons for the full length of the thousand year reign.".

what's the deal with this?
could it be related to the rumored reduction of the ammount of dc's for next year here in thr u.s.?
elders in the northeast (i assume other area's as well) received a letter inviting them to a "special" meeting 2-3 weeks ago to discuss hospitality at int'l dc's to be held next summer.
I can say how the JW international conventions were arranged in the 1960's and 1970's when I was young: Every JW went to one. The only special assignments were those who would travel internationally, and had to be invited by the WT Society to do so.
So when I went to international conventions in Chicago, Detroit and San Francisco -- every JW went to those large venues, and you'd see foreign JW's there too. There were no smaller/local conventions in our home state like as there were in other years.
"singing songs, clapping hands, praising acts of giving and community work all the things present in a church have now found an official home in so-called atheist mega-churches, a quirky idea spreading like wildfire across the western world.".

If atheism is a religion, then baldness is a hairstyle and "not collecting stamps" is a hobby.
how many articles on quantum mechanics have been published in the watchtower and awake magazines?.
could someone with the wt-cd library check on this?.
What faithful servant of Jah needs to study anything complicated of this world? These things lead to independent thinking anyhow. The only thing a faithful servant of Jah needs to study is the wise sayings of the Bible and the wise "current truth" explanations emanating from the 8-man faithful slave class.
well it's been over a decade since i've been active here.
life got busy, had some ups and downs, but life is good!.
it looks like simon is still in charge of the place, although the look is a bit different from last time i was here.
I'm an elder's son as well. This site really helped me a lot in the early 2000's.
You are correct, Simon still administers the site with the help of Angharad and a few others. Although probably our dads would say Satan's in charge of this place.

How ironic that the Awake magazine published an article about the dimensions of human ignorance.
when i was younger, i saw things as a young, inexperienced man.
i thought i knew it all, but time would prove otherwise.
i believed that as long as you accepted "mother's" counsel, then everyone should just follow jehovah's organization's guidance.. i realized some witnesses actually loved that thought, that it's either black or white.
Even when I was in the organization and thought it was teaching the truth, I could plainly see that there were two kinds of elders -- the demanding ones (often hypocritical), and the meeker ones who were more down-to-earth with the congregants. And I saw that the 2nd kind seemed to get discouraged and were dominated by the first kind, thus more likely to give up their "privilege".
I never rose above ministerial servant. I rarely had authority except when substituting for the book study conductor (when they used to have these in private homes) or conducting meetings for service.
stop and think.
peter and john were "unlearned and ignorant men" without training in any ecclesiastical rabbinical school of their day.. acts 4:13. new king james version (nkjv).
13 now when they saw the boldness of peter and john, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled.
Apparently anything is legitimate if Jehovah, I mean the Watchtower Society says it is so.
The WT would say this: Daniel 12 says that the true knowledge would become abundant in the last days. Proverbs says the light will grow brighter. So the quantity of "true" knowledge now available is greater than ever before. Then you tie that in with Matthew 24:14 which we all know by heart, and Paul's admonition that "woe is me if I didn't declare the good news", then you have their reasoning as to why every JW is required to publicly declare the good news the Watchtower's message.
Also Ephesians 6 that you quoted used the term "ambassador". As it does with almost every other term in the New Testament, the Watchtower has turned that into the "ambassador class", whereas the non-anointed lackies are "envoys" (supporting the ambassadors). There aren't enough ambassadors to fulfill Matthew 24:14 so OF COURSE all the envoys are called to preach.
This in spite of all logic and even Biblical reasoning to the contrary.
i feel it strange that many here is here because of the wt organizations lies, contradictions etc (?!).
a deep and personal belief in god should not stand or fall because of a wicked organization that manipulate people.
i have a feeling that other christians in other organizations are more stable in their belief.
Phizzy said what I was going to say. When your world is turned upside down after leaving a high-control religion, it is natural to step back and re-examine life's important questions. What better time to do it? Some of us came to question EVERYTHING we had ever been taught about spirituality, and found that the re-evaluation led to the discovery that God seems less real and more distant for a variety of reasons - the existence of evil in the world first and foremost.
As to this: " I have a feeling that other Christians in other organizations are more stable in their belief." When I went door-to-door as a JW, I found that most people couldn't really explain why they believed as they did - they just believed. (Of course, there were a few who could quote their Scriptures as well as any JW's could quote other ones. But those were rare, at least in the Midwest where I live.) My gut feeling is that JW's have, as a percentage, as many hard-core believers as any mainstream Christian religion.
