Their efforts at controlling Internet usage will probably meet with equal abysmal failure as their early-on efforts to curb TV watching among their rank and file. It's just a matter of the Internet becoming even MORE of a household appliance than it is today, in time.

perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

Even the government of the United States has done its part to perpetuate the myth that everything is fine, having told Americans that the most important thing for us to do is to get back to our normal way of life as quickly as possible.What the hell is the government supposed to tell people, to run around like chickens with their heads cut off? Come on!!! Thinking people know that our way of life was altered forever on 9/11/01, just as other epoch-changing events occurred in the 20th century (such as the beginning of each world war, and the assassination of President J.F. Kennedy). But life had to go on after these other events, and it did, with a sense of order and routine, because IT HAD TO. It is similar with the events of 9/11/01. It is not a precursor to the end of the world, just as these other earlier earth-shaking events were not!!

Were you ever a JW? If not, how did you reach these conclusions you have posted?
I am an ex-JW, and have been quite aware that lying is a tactic that the elders use to cover their butts more than anything else. My thought is that they lie mainly to defend their position, rather than just lying for lying's sake.
It's all not good. It's that theocratic warfare, which by definition states "it is not wrong to deceive if doing so serves the theocracy". This is moral relativism, which they claim to dislike but they actually practice when convenient --- it's up to the elders involved.
But if you're NOT an elder and you try theocratic warfare, you'll soon find yourself in deep trouble with the practicers of theocratic warfare.

well i must admit that i have been viewing many different stories here in the forum and as i sit here and type mine, my eyes are welling up with tears.
they are not tears of sadness but rather tears of joy to finally find a "home' where i can come to, to talk to people who share the same life history as myself.

As to your relationship with God, you've come to a conclusion that many here have reached. It seems like, after some thought, it should be very clear that your relationship with God is a 2-way street, and not a love-triangle between you, God, and some large meddling organization! They play the role of "mediator", and take on the heavy responsibility of middle-man, which of course as time has shown, they've totally messed up. Sad to say, for the JW's, loyalty to their mediating "organization" comes ahead of love, which is sad. Yes, for them "it's my organization, right or wrong", and they think that's totally defensible.
Without that meddling mediator, you're free to approach God in a more personal way if you so choose! Best wishes as you find your spiritual way in life.

last night when i got home there was a message from a jw friend asking me to call her.
well, i did and she had heard that i had moved in with a "worldly" person and asked me how i was, etc... i asked her where she had heard that and she told me so&so told her.

Of course you are exactly right. Gossip and slander seem to go on unpunished in dub land. Apparently doing those things give you MORE power in the 'brotherhood', as you can step on the carcasses of ruined reputations to enhance your own!!
But your last sentence is ironic--they should be 'going out in service' if they have too much time....Funny, a lot of service time (especially among female pioneers) seems to be spent in gossiping, ruining the reputations of other members not present in the ministry that day.
