i have added the letters from friends and family in behalf of manuel beliz to the court.
the button is on the front page of the website.
it is odd that the letter seem to follow a similar pattern to the testimony in the paul berry sentencing hearing.
For those who wish to view the site, the link below wasn't working. I had to type in the URL: http://www.silentlambs.com (rather than .org).
Most of the letters were from JW relatives of his, and they all seemed to say "he's a good, honest, decent man who made a mistake". What a way to minimize the grotesque deeds he did over a period of time. Remember, he was convicted beyond reasonable doubt.
Most stunning was the assertion by his parents "this could have been settled amongst themselves". How many times did Erica seek justice within the JW system, only to be turned aside? Her parents' comments betray the excuse-seeking thinking of those loyal to the JW organization. Impartial people can see through this smoke screen.
Thanks for putting up the letters. They reveal a groupthink mentality and lack of compassion for the humanity of the real victim. They make out Mr. Beliz to be the victim. Oh how screwed up that is!

can someone provide me some insight or past experience with the pros and cons to disassociating oneself versus getting disfellowshipped?
besides the obvious of not having to deal with the lynch squad.
thanks for you comments.
Qadreena,
Your experience shows that the supposed "unity" among JW's is a farce. The elders can pretty much make up their own rules and to an extent get away with it!! Sorry to hear they went out of their way to try to make your life miserable at that point!
But now it should be okay for JW's to talk to you... So, do they talk to you now?

Formerly, they did "disassociate" unbaptized people. Until some point in the 80's, where they realized it was a stupid policy. After all, the person never committed to be a JW anyway. Probably, they were afraid of lawsuits that would result from the policy.
Anyhow, I hope this clears up the confusion. Xena and qadreena, I can see where you're both coming from!! Qadreena -- most people out here will trust you, believe me!

i used to love the comments archie bunker made about the bible.
i remember when he was talking about adam and eve and how it was all her fault that they ate the apple and then god got mad and told them to "get their clothes on and get the hell out of there.
" and then there was samson who "found a jawbone in the grass and went and slew the philippines.".
I liked when Mike challenged Archie about how much he really knew about the Bible, and Archie said something like "I know all about the Bible, from Generous to Revolutions."

im confused would i take blood if i was about to die and had no other alternative treatment well to me thats allways been a hard one one to answer and people have allways hated witnesses for refusing it or not giving blood to there own kids.you see my mothers due in to hospital on tuesday and having a major operation the problem for her is she is inactive as a jw and has no blood card which is upto date what do you think she should do 1.phone elders 2.trust in jehovah and refuse blood.3if it comes to the worst take blood and live.
The WTS teaches that it is "respect for life" which prohibits them from blood transfusions in all situations. But of course they are now allowing many various forms of blood components or fractions, thus confusing the situation.
I don't know that option 1 is a good one, because the JW's keep changing their teachings. Option 2 "trust in Jehovah" -- I think if Jehovah cares at all, he would want us to take the best option available.
Myself I'd go with option 3. I recognize that there are a number of advantages to bloodless surgery. But out of "respect for life", instead of respect for a symbol, if it came down to accept blood or die, I will let the medical professionals do their best to save me.
There came across the news yesterday a rare case where a man had his life saved through a blood transfusion, however he unfortunately acquired HIV/AIDS through tainted blood. He was the only individual to receive blood from this particular donor. The donor was newly infected, thus it slipped through the system. The recipient, although he received tainted blood, said that he was glad that the blood saved his life, although the same blood may later kill him. At least his life was extended, which it would not have been if he had followed some religious rules from the WT Society.

i have my nicotined stained fingers on something that may fascinate you.
i've had it a while, and now must come forth to make full admission:.
this is a teaser introduction to someting that will shock some, and not surprise others, but many nevertheless may not know where this came from:.
Amazing,
In your upcoming post, will you also include information regarding the "exoneration" of the governing members of the Watchtower Society in 1919? The WTS has always taken great pride in that exoneration, as if they never did anything the least bit questionable!! I think the story can only be complete with an explanation of the pardon.

hi i am new to this forum, so please bear with me.
i have a question from the book of john.
john is asked if he is the christ, he replies no, then he is asked if he is the prophet, he replies no.
Hi Jeannie,
I have no clue about the answer to your question! I think you're pretty sharp just for having picked up on that subtle detail!
BTW, I recognize you from the exjwinwestva group!! Welcome here, and come join us in chat some time for some real fun.
