The best way to convince the JW's to leave is by living a happy and meaningful life outside "the Borg". Anyone who sees that happiness may develop a desire to share that happiness.
If people are happy inside there, any efforts to try to "save" them will probably meet with subtle but strong resistance on their part. You see, they have these invisible "apostate shields" in their minds to guard against people like you and me who may have good intentions to help. Due to that "shield", helping them is harder than you likely realize. They've been the subject of an intense intellectual and emotional campaign, and unless they initiate it themselves, they probably won't want to leave, because they'll reason that the "good outweighs the bad".

christianity today magazine, with a large circulation in north america deals with many issues, including reporting on legal events facing various christian based religions.. in the march 5, 2001 issue the reporter discusses this topic, quoting bill bowen.
in the same issue of the magazine, they also discussed the watchtower society reorganization that took place in october 2000. it is not too long.

The two don't go hand-in-hand. The issue here is what causes self hatred, and I believe the "group think" mentality of JW's takes otherwise good people and turns them against each other and against themselves.
True, we all bear personal responsibility for the effects of our actions. No argument there.
But for me to "get on" with my life, I have had to mentally forgive the elders who mistreated me, almost feel sorry for them, really.

You suggested that the sheep who display self-hatred are brainwashed into feeling that way.
If so, then the elders are also subtly influenced by the accumulation of teachings (i.e., brainwashed) into browbeating their flock in that manner. It seems like a stage play, already written with the outcome determined. That's why I don't stay mad at the individual elders, they're only carrying out what they are "rewarded" for doing.
The system and the Society that stands behind it seems to be the greatest source of harm here. They teach everyone to subjugate love for the greater good of "Mother Organization". Bryant felt helpless against the large wheels of the organization, so he turned his anger inward.

last week we were in burger king and on the wall behind us was a fantastic blank and white photo of the twin towers of the world trade centre.. this week, the picture has gone although all the other pictures of ny buildings are still up.. why?
surely this is a bigger insult to people than keeping it up there?.
i can understand removing images of the wtc from films where it is part of a terrorist plot but the buildings did exist and were magnificent.. what do you think?

ive not been so angry for a long time.. the watchtower article entitled jehovah hates the course of treachery in the may 1st 2002 issue is a masterpiece of bullshit.
there are so many points in it i feel that i should make more than one thread.. in this thread i will deal with the issue of marriage discussed from paragraph 13 onwards.
paragraph 15 warns against marrying an unbeliever and confirms the societys view that only jehovahs witnesses will survive armageddon, so why bother marrying someone who will die soon?.
