  Do you blame your parents?

  do you blame your parents for bringing you up as witnesses?.

  do you tink they sould have known better, or do you feel sorry for them?.

  i used to think how lucky i was to be born into a family that had the truth.. now i wonder, how could my parents have fallen fot it?.

  No, I don't blame my parents.

  My parents raised me and my sister to be a JW, which we no longer are (but my parents are still devout JW's).

  They did what they THOUGHT was right. I never sensed from them any idea that the organization was wrong or that the people were unloving. Or if they did, they managed to hide those thoughts quite well.

  Even when unsettling things occur, they will just ignore it and continue to hope in the organization. Their routines are so defined by the religion, there are few times that they made little exceptions to its rules.

  Now they shun me, again following their organization's rules. They think that by doing so, they will be encouraging me back into the path of everlasting life and God's favor.

  They probably will never feel the need to examine any alternatives.

  What does your ID or Nick say about you?

  someone replied to a post i entered and got me thinking what others perceive about us due to the nicks or id we have chosen.

  some of the nicks i am sure are just self explanatory , others are cute, or simple.

  although i suspect that very many in this room,took time to think of theirs and definitly the nick holds some little secret as to who they are as a person.

  certainly, if a person is entertaining unfounded expectations, the heart can be sickened by disappointment.

  In line with what several posters have already said, it is quite stunning that the WTS writers would even allude to this scripture at all.

  How many times have they deliberately raised expectations regarding the end times and dates? 1975 is one of a series, and I remember the great anticipation: "Stay alive till '75!" and "The end is only a few months away!" were common thoughts.

  Of course, the WTS blamed the "rank and file" JW's for having such thoughts. But THOSE MEN manipulated us by raising the expectations in the first place! And they have sickened the hearts of their loyal followers, time and again. Yet the followers still follow. Misery must love company.

  i just started reading a book called "a clear path to healing", by dr. barry s. weinburg.

  the back cover states:.

  " a clear path to healing is a blueprint for anyone who wants to reach their optimum health potential.

  I do love that quote from R.W. Emerson, about success!

  Can one book really contain "THE clear path" to healing? Is it a bit of overkill when the back cover says "this book belongs on the bookshelf of everyone in America"?

  I hope the book makes valuable contributions (without overselling itself) to the discussion of the subject of health care (and what we can do about it).

  i'm watching cnn and the actor robert blake, best known for his role in the tv series baretta, has just been arrested for the murder of his wife.

  they are charging him with the deliberate first degree murder of his wife.

  Who's Greg Stafford

  does anyone know greg personally?.

  i'm intrigued by the comments made regarding the recent release of his dissertations, and can't help but adimre him for the nobility of his intent.

  it seems to me he's a victim of the delusion that the beliefs of jws are intellectually defensible and can withstand the test of empiricism and hard, objective scrutiny.. i can't help but wonder how he's regarded by his peers in the local congregation, the local elders ad circuit overseer whether he holds any jw office (elder, ministerial servant, etc), whether he gives lectures, parts on the meeting, etc.

  "The Elohim blesses the humble one." Ok. Since when does one's profession have anything to do with their humility? You can be humble and rich, or proud and poor.

  Some Bible writers had "non-humble" jobs: Luke was a doctor, David was a KING. Are we to presume that Luke and David were unlikely to receive God's blessing just because they had well-paying jobs??? [8>]

  i've recently discovered that the great majority of my problems are my own fault.

  which leads me to conclude that it is also my own fault that people don't like me very much.. y'all have pretty much seen me at my best and my worst.

  why do you think people don't like me?.
