  Song number to service meeting needed !!!!!!

  The Preaching Work Is A Scam

  i'd like to know what you think of the "all important, life saving preaching work".

  even if this preaching was considered a success, it would not be able to save the billions of people on this earth.

  recently, my mother told me how she believe that jehovah god is patiently keeping the door open, since every year, new ones come into the "truth".

  I remember a few years ago a JW brother brought his "bible study" to the "school and service" meeting.

  Afterwards the study was asked what he thought of the meeting. He said "You're trained to sell." Which of course was denied by us. He said we were that the methods he had seen were the same he as a salesman had been taught at seminars. The school he said taught the technique of what to say and how to say it. The school guidebook would make a good sales manual for training his satff. The service meeting was how to put the things learnt in the school into practise. The two hours was nothing more than a seminar on how to sell.

  Well you can imagine how that went down with the rest of us. Yet now when I look back I see how right he was.

  Needless to say that he stopped his study.

  my qing the wts of recent has been very hard on my wife.

  if i could, i would change my timing of doing so, but its just the way it has happened.

  I know just what you faced when you had that meeting with the elders. In 1996 I developed acute clinical depression and attempted suicide. Spent six weeks in a pyschiatric hospital, also taking anti-depressants. I had been a JW for 21 years, at the time and a Ministerail Servant.

  I appeared before a Judicial Committee, reproved. Counsel from elders was get out in field service more attend all meetings etc. The last thing you want when in depression is to be around people. Knocking on the doors of complete strangers and telling them how bad the world is, but there is a great future.

  About 6 months later because things weren't going that well with me. They persuaded my wife to make me leave the family home as I was considered a "spiritual danger" to the family. She found a place for me in the next town, wasn't allowed to attend same congregation as family!! Same "advice" in new congregation, more field service, attend meetings. etc. What really shook me was that I thought this was "Jehovahs loving organisation" that they would help. It was almost as if I was an embarrassment to them and they wanted to hide me away.

  After a year there I started on looking at the WT's history etc. it just happened one day. It took off and I looked at everything on the WT, books, internet. In August 1999 I attended last meeting. Since then wife my JW wife and two JW daughters have not spoken to me.

  I have a son and daughter who DA'd and came to live with me over what happened.

  When they were playing at Wimbledon this year.

  They had a recorded interview with Serena Williams on the radio, late at night on I think it was BBC World Service.

  She was asked about her religion and what part it played in her life.

  She replied that it had been a part of her growing up and gave her some good moral guidelines. (Mind you, have you seen the way she dresses sometimes.)

  This what surprised me she then said "But it no longer has an important role to play in her life."

  Unwritten rules at the Kingdom Hall, what were yours ???

  every one of us who attended the kingdom hall, must have went through this at some time, and noticed things you were not supposed to do, even though it wasn't wrong.

  the biggie at our hall was do not sit in the back row, i always did, what was the deal on that, why put chairs there.

  - don't back you car in, someone would go out and check this nightly, ???.

  the persistent passage of time has forced the borg to literally redefine the word "generation" to suit their needs (it now means any group of people within a span of time that can go on indefinitely).

  i'm starting to get the impression that they are going to have to do something with the 8000 or so people who insist on partaking of the emblems every year, thereby identifying themselves as "anointed" and heaven bound.

  in recent years they have tried to discourage people from partaking by emphasizing that they could be crazy or diluted or puffed up with pride if they partook (don't ya just love my jw speak!?!?

  I read somewhere that the WT regard 85% of those taking the emblems, as not being "true" anonited" ones, I think because they started taking them after 1935.. So this mean about only 1300 are of the anonited.

  Anyone else heard of this.

  Did anyone else want to puke at assemblies?

  is it me or do others get absolutely sickened by the disgusting interviews given during circuit and district assemblies?

  i mean, come on, how much more rehearsed are these little skits?

  i always hated hearing everyone's "out of this world" field service experiences.

  It's not just at assemblies that those "interviews" used make me cringe.

  Even at the Kingdom Hall we had them.

  One Elder and his family always used to put themselves across as being the "perfect" JW family. He would have them on the platform for a "demonstration" of a "family study". Poor guy, didn't know that one daughter was having sex with a JW brother. One son, a MS, had been caught in bed with a girl, both using cannabis as well. Another son had a reputation at school, for being a foul-mouthed lout. The wife was on Prozac.

  Yet they were always putting themselves over as the example of how a JW family should be, studying, field service, meetings etc.

  All the teenagers in the congregation knew there little secrets, because one daughter couldn't keep her mouth shut, after a couple of drinks.

  Did I say anything about NOT questioning Ray Franz.

  As “Jst2laws” states you have misunderstood went I was trying to say. I was not saying that criticism of Ray Franz was “taboo”.

  I was saying that if Ray was to state something without strong evidence to back it up. The WT would jump at the chance to discredit him. They would then use this to call into question everything he has said before.

  I'm sure you have seen similar when someone exposes what the company they have worked for , is doing wrong. That company will then do their best to discredit the person, it then calls into question all his other eveidence. Can it be relied on, is it true, should we believe anything he says etc.

  Yes, if the person is wrong he should be exposed as so. There is no "taboo" on anyone.

  My father born in 1899. Went to sea when he was 14,merchant navy, torpedoed 3 times in First World War. Served for 20 years. Worked on the docks in Liverpool. Had to give up work in 1962 due to injury, no compensation those days. Died 1985.

  Yet in all that time he would never voted Labour. Why? Because as he used to say he wouldn't trust them as far as he could throw them. Through his working life, he saw how this party of the "working man" exploited their supporters. Look at the times Labour have been in power, each time they have started well, but end up ruining the economy or somethiing.

  Maybe Ray Franz does know what went on in the WT over paedophiles etc. But unless he has strong evidence to back it up it could be dangerous to publish.

  The Watchtower would have him in court in a flash. They would love any excuse to discredit him. Imagine the effect it would have if they could. It would call into question all that he has already published. Do we want that?

  Who knows maybe Ray has something to publish after his death, that will really hit the WT.
