jws seem to be preoccupied with "the world".
if a witness does anything out of line----they are considered "worldly".
she's "worldly".
For someone who calls himself "Who Cares" he seems to care what we say about him and his religion.
i ask a question, the next person answers my question and then asks their own and so on.
so i will start off with....... .
what if animals could talk?
I wouldn't be sitting staring at this screen on this sunny warm beautiful day.
What if you had a chance to go back in time and meet Charles Russel and/or Rutherford?
Met JW's March 1971, started study with them, baptised January 6th, 1972, attended last meeting August 1999, became Christian March 2000, baptised Christian January 6th, 2001, offically disassociated from JW's Septenber 2001.
Wouldn't have bothered to DA but 2 years after I had stopped going to meetings, become a Christian, then they decide to come and see me. Then it was only to get me back to make up the numbers. Made me mad so wrote them a DA letter. That caused my JW wife, who I was already separated from, and two JW daughters to stopped having any contact with me, and have not done so for the past 3 years.
It was strange that they didn't mind I had become aChristian and attending a church, but as soon as I had DA'd it all changed.

the very act of looking into the future, changes -- indeed, negates -- that future.

If you had the power to look at what your life will be like 15 years from now, do you honestly think your life would end up that way? Wouldn't the very fact that you know how things would turn out change how you acted in the meantime, thus altering the vision you had?
If I look forward 15 years and see my life and how it turns out. How would I change the way I act now? Basically I couldn't because I wouldn't know what act it was that caused my life to be the way it is in 15 years time. If I've had the vision isn't that part of my life also, it could be the act that makes my life turn out the way it does. Also you are presuming that my life in 15 years is somehow not good. What if it is a good life why should I then do anything that could jeopardise it.
If God looks into the future and says to his prophet X that so-and-so will do something (like die on a cross or conquer the King of the North) wouldn't the fact that such a thing is proclaimed alter the contingencies leading to an altered situation? Or does God take this into account? If so, then everything in the universe, including God, is absolutely determined and free will is a pathetic joke.
Didn't God through Jonah prophesy that Nineveh would be destroyed because of their badness. Yet Nineveh changed because of the prophecy, Thus altered the contingencies, which led to an altered situation. So by using their free will they changed the prophecy.

If anyone in Britain can get hold of a copy of the latest Watchtower CD rom, for me, I would be grateful.
3 quotes about masterbation, blood and birthdays:
true, the words "masturbation" and "self-abuse" are not in the bible.
the mosaic law speaks of "emission of semen," but as bible commentators point out, the reference is to involuntary nocturnal emissions, not self-induced ejaculations.
True, the words "masturbation" and "self-abuse" are not in the Bible. The Mosaic law speaks of "emission of semen," but as Bible commentators point out, the reference is to involuntary nocturnal emissions, not self-induced ejaculations. (Lev. 15:16) However, there are Bible principles that adequately cover the subject of masturbation.
They speak about involuntary emissions being spoken of in the Bible, and give a scripture. Then they jump and say "there are Bible principles" that cover masturbation. Bot give none, nor any scripture that does.
Would the Biblical prohibition on blood cover medical uses, such as transfusions, which certainly were not known in the days of Noah, Moses, or the apostles? ... thinking people in past centuries realized that the Biblical law applied to taking blood into the veins just as it did to taking it into the mouth. Bartholin concluded: "Either manner of taking [blood] accords with one and the same purpose, that by this blood a sick body be nourished or restored."
Which thinking people through the centuries? Bartholin's quote (18th century??) has now been shown to be false, blood given intravenously does not nourish the body.
Birthdays: The only two birthday celebrations spoken of in the Bible were held by persons who did not worship Jehovah. (Genesis 40:20-22; Mark 6:21, 22, 24-27) The early Christians did not celebrate birthdays. The custom of celebrating birthdays comes from ancient false religions. True Christians give gifts and have good times together at other times during the year
What about Jesus' birthday? What eveidence is given that the early Christians didn't celebrate birthdays. So if we give a gift to a person the next day after their birthday its OK.
Trying to press people into a man-made mould is exactly what the above quotes are doing. Making people fit a concept of what the WT say is correct. In the above on masturbation, blood, birthdays, have they not gone "beyond the things written".Our view of others is very limited compared to Jehovah?s, who reads the heart. (1 Chronicles 28:9) Appreciating this will prevent us from becoming modern-day, self-righteous Pharisees, trying to press people into our own man-made mold of righteousness in order that they might fit our concept of what is correct. If we try to see people as God sees them, we will not require more of them than he does. We will "not go beyond the things that are written." (1 Corinthians 4:6) This is especially important for Christian elders to take to heart.?1 Peter 5:2, 3

am i right in thinking that about 1995 the teaching on the "sheep and goats" of matt 25 changed.. i vaguely remember that pre-1995 it used to regarded that the sheep and goats were judged on how they received the preaching work.
then post-1995 it changed to that jesus would judge them when he came at armageddon.. can anyone tell if this is right.
Thanks all for your replies.
I thought I was correct but wanted to make sure. I even had to give the review of the District Convention when it was first announced. But it got overshadowed by the change in the "1914 generation" teachings.
Interesting point by Gary B. That they still mention "other sheep" in the old way as if they have already been chosen.
Its almost as if there are 3 groups of sheep. 1) the anointed. 2) the "other sheep" 3) the sheep chosen at Armageddon.
i was talking with one of my brothers recently, and he commented on something he's noticed while travelling.
he noticed that a lot of kingdom halls seem to be popping up in rural areas.
i know that a town in the next county built one outside of town a couple of years ago, and the kh in my own town has a 'for sale' sign on the lawn.
Well lets face it. No congregation is going to get any financial help from the millions that Bethel has. They can spend millions, given by brothers, build a great new place at Patterson. But some poor congregation somewhere has to raise its own money for a new hall.
