Big Ray prides himself as a man of thinking abilities. I fear that he has stopped thinking. And he is treading a very dangerous path, setting up a parallel congregation - in which disfellowshipping announcements can be made - on the Internet. This is the kind of policing syndrome that has eaten deep into some. You haunt them in their homes, in the congregation and then in a virtual community. How far will we go? That announcement is both immature and unspiritual; it is an assault. I wish Irene would sue for this. Is is possible, even remotely? Are there lawyers there who can make something out of this?

GOOD AFTERNOON, JEHOVAH!
by Englishman inisn`t it strange that jw`s have such a problem with ex`s?
try as they might to hang their watchtower labels onto me, i just don`t seem to be the person that they think that i should be!.
i think that i`ve become far more honest than the average jw.

Dannybear,
there are sure guidelines for prayers. WT articles discuss matters appropriate for prayers, especially public ones. If you read the opening page of the Mankind Search for God Book, you see a few things referred to as 'mundane'. I wondered then. Who do I talk to if I can't to God about my forthcoming exams? Besides, Christiandom has got some beautiful songs mentioning Jehovah's name. Makes one green with envy. And I woke up one morning saying - Good Morning, Father God... then the thoughts came rushing and I almost recanted. -

Who Has Exclusive Rights?
by RR ini'm getting a kick on the wol board, there is a post there that's too funny.. apparently one of the witnesses went on a return visit with an elder and the guy they came to visit was "un-witnessable.
well, apparently he had the same beliefs as they did, so how do you witness to someone who agrees with you?
so the frame of thought from the replies is pretty much, if he has some truths, he must be an apostate, or perhaps he studied one of our publication.

Prisca,
Watch out for Dang! His posts are beginning to show the signs of someone who's having increased knowledge - he's becoming more liberal. Check out his comments on their discussion on beards. They respect him and tend to keep mute when he says things they're afraid to.
RR,
they refused to get me registered. They want to know everything about me. Info my doctor and employer and the government combined together don't have...Censorship; they're even afraid of their own. -

The 'Generation' is BACK!
by nicolaou inthe following is copied directly from the society's official website.
for any here who are familiar with the change in understanding of the 1914 generation, it may seem quite shocking.. the society put this information on their site *after* the change in understanding and have kept it there for the past five years!.

Nicolau,
if you want to see brilliant flashes of light, then attend the meetings and read current magazines. Why do you expect to see new things on the Internet? We don't wish that you abandon the real safety of the congregation for the virtual chaos of the Net. A word's enough for someone seeking to become wise. -

JT,
that was the feeling I got. All those things one's never seen before, or the pastors at church never bothered to mention, JWs did. It was irresistible not to see the ring of knowledge. But one gets worried about the past, our history. No attempt is made during study to update one with the history of the org, the development of the teachings. Whenever you read about 1919 and how true Christians were restored then, you get the idea that the current version of truth has been in circulation all the while.
Quote: WT March 1, 2001. Page 16, parag. 20
*******************************************
After liberating his people from Babylon the Great in 1919, he set before them a victory banquet, an abundant supply of spiritual food. That was foretold at Isaiah 25:6...Through "the faithful and discreet slave", we are given everything we could ever need in a spiritual sense.
*******************************************When you see the quality of what is termed spiritual food as served in 1919 and shortly after, you begin to wonder. truth becomes a function of time...Your statement about prophecies stand true, and I wish to add that proposing that prophecies have their "second fulfillment" is disturbing.

Family Ties
by somebody inanother lie told to the media/public on the jw-medai site.. do you shun former members?.
those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.
in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.

Thinker,
"Satan's influence through the disfellowshiped member of the family will be to cause the other member or members of the family who are in the truth to join the disfellowshiped member in his course or in his position toward God's organization. To do this would be disastrous, and so the faithful family member must recognize and conform to the disfellowship order. How would or could this be done while living under the same roof or in personal, physical contact daily with the disfellowshiped? In this way: By refusing to have religious relationship with the disfellowshiped."
Thinker, you fail to take into account the range of 'sins' people can be disfellowshipped for. Do you imply that all DFed ones have taken a stand against God? And what does it exactly mean to be "disfellowshipped? Answer from the bible. And for what sins are people to be disfellowshipped. You must take care not to overstep Jehovah's requirements as stated in the bible. I just wonder, when you read Revelation Chapter 2 and the reaction of the resurrected Jesus to the false prophetess, how do you feel about acts of disfellowshipping at the instance of fallible humans? There is only a thin line between the practices associated with DFshipping and assault.

Even if all the info on the Net were to be made available to everybody, some will still choose to be JW complete with all the works. But people should be allowed to go in knowing everything. Like what'll actually happen were they to say they want to be part of it no more; a good study of the meaning of the baptism questions; the past of the Org; the revisions...er...adjustments to the teachings; Beth Sarim and Shan; the cost of disagreeing with the teachings; Malawi and Mexico; Bulgaria and blood etc etc.

Hello Expat,
you ask the questions I've been asking myself since. It was at College, very very far away from home. Stopped attending Church after leaving home. My dad was (is!) a Rev., a Pastor and cool preacher. But I could see through the politics in the Church. I was young but I knew it was a lie. And I'd read enough of the bible plus tomes of encyclopaedias to have tons of questions. The man and mother, they taught me the way of the Lord. I was a good boy. But with the freedom of college, I stopped going anywhere. Then I met witnesses. The guys seemed to answer all the questions I had, plus references from the college library. They supplied all the materials. And I was done in. I didn't understand many things though. And I never agreed with many too. Just reasoned they are the best yet (y'know, there's this reasoning about you eating good meals 99 times in a restaurant bla, bla bla...) So I looked around and started to become part of the group. Got baptised...Then something really bad happened; used a search engine on the Net and my life has not been the same again. Lurked on Witnet b4 the shutdown...I didn't know nada! I didn't have all the info. Now when I try to preach to others I feel like I'm not telling the whole story...

TR,
when was the last you attended a meeting? Interacials are discouraged because of issues of cultural background and compatibility. Never mind if they grew up in the same environment. We must not stumble our brothers. And to tell you how much better things've gotten over the years, I think I'll search for that Gilead class where I saw a couple, black and white. Now can you beat that? And...er... arecent WT issue discussed inviting others to our family gathering. The picture there shows a black sister with the white nuclear family. And I tell you it isn't only in the picture.
