I told a friend about the affair between the Watchtower and the United Nations. He's checked it up on the UN site and is really down. He doesn't want to see me anymore, and he's been ill since last week.

I found this on the WTS website concerning the UN
by Leander inthis is actually posted under the first massive thread about the society and un, but i thought maybe it should have a post dedicated to this shocking softening of opinion.. my original post was as follows:.
i just shared the information with my wife about the society and the un.
she then replied that this situation was no different than paul making use of the goverment to further the preaching work.

... and then Paul gave his own opinion and slammed the inspiration stamp on it. Smart guy he was, that Paul. He wasn't trained by a lawyer for nothing.

When Ambiguity Signals Betrayal
by metatron infor quite a while now, the watchtower has been reacting to.
severe controversies with ambiguous replies.. this is a dramatic change from the decades when they plainly.
expressed their views on neutrality, the u.n., and blood.. it was felt that to do otherwise violated the sacred responsibility.

To be fair, there's something they're not being ambiguous about, and it's a one-size-fits-all answer: 'wait on Jehovah'.

And there's the deceit that the rank and file 're being given more latitude to make their decisions. When the Society gets caught in their web of conflicting opinions, they shift matters to the region of personal conscience, while at the same time proposing what a 'mature' Christian should do. The new ambiguity is a mighty crack in the wall, and a betrayal of long-time, die-hard Jdubs. The Watchtower should have listen to Solomon; in the multitude of words there does not fail to be transgression... Once again, apostates are in the right.....

At an assembly early this year, a speaker from Bethel spent several minutes condemning the iNet, how it's all false, how Satan's using it as a new tool, how propanganda and lies are been said about Witnesses there, bla bla bla... Just couldn't help thinking they were hiding something. They were afraid. But the needn't anymore, their cover's blown... The wacthtower's crumbling, like a house of cards.

JW Fear Factor.
by outcast ini just had a great new idea for a tv show, the jw fear factor!
the one contestant that can read apostate literature, and still remain a faithful follower gets what?.
this was taken from .www.greatcrowd.com why such fear?

They shut the thread down real fast, and the WOL heavies chipped in two comments to explain away this harlotry. There's fear within that fold. They fear to discuss the issue, a typical dub reaction... But denial will not help here. Dubdom cannot excape the coming rot. For 10 years the Watchtower Society had succeeded in keeping it's membership of the DPI secret, now their cover is blown.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

Lisa,
you're right on the nail! Upon reading that article, it was to me like: 'no they can't be serious'. Someone in writing just eats a fruit and begins to wonder how much sweeter it'll be in paradise, and wham! the spirit's ministering to him: time to write a timely article about sweetness to the brothers... And when the brothers see it, they remember all the good things they've tasted, and wonder how well the org's providing good succulent fruit at the right time... -

What is going ON?
by Aintthatcute infirst of all: i am new and have been lurking for about 2 weeks.
whoow!
glad i got that out of the way.. something that really bothers me is: when they say that the gb all the way down, elders, and ministerial servents are "appointed" by jehovah, and are deserving of "double honor".

ATC,
the elders don't have to pray. Have you forgotten Hebrews 1:1? Jehovah does not communicate with humans again. Jehovah won't tell them what he thinks anyway. Or is that reasoning new to you? All they do is watch your 'works' and see if it's agreeable with them. They'll decide if they can work with you. And that's what matters, and a few things that look good on paper. It's all about your 'packaging', what you project. And if they do pray, what's the prayer about? Prayer's the last thing they're thinking of.
When I asked sometime why some spies were able to infiltrate the organization, and get appointed even into high positions, one elder said it was a test, that Jehovah used them spies to sift those who weren't for real. I just wondered, how far would Jehovah go? Or how far would they let him?

ATC, welcome to the board.
The elders who recommend one for a 'priviledge' don't have to pray. All that has to be done is for you to be spiritually strong. And the definition of that spirituality is what's written in your monthly report card, plus slamming some cool comments during the meetings, and being a little bit nice and then not being antagonistic to them elders, you know, all the 'widening out' works... Then you get appointed by humans, not by God's spirit. The 'appointed by Jehovah' angle is put to members to stop them from questioning whatever they may seems wrong.
