  So I went to the Memorial last night...........

  so i went last night and it really wasn't that bad.

  in fact, i felt comfortable.

  i got the usual greetings, hugs, and one of the elders almost came to tears when he saw me.. there were also the "same-old" "same-olds" who look right through you and never say a word to you.

  I also like the way the speaker used James 2:24-26. He skipped v.25. Maybe because the sum total of Rahab's works amounted to one event, not 20 years of Field Service. Hmmmmmm.

  James' theme was about justification by works; not that Tahab was justified by faith and works, but by works (alone), specifically by sending them by another way. A rather sharp contrast to Hebrews 11:31, who connected Rahab's reception of the spies with a work of faith: faith was receiving the spies, works was sending them out another way relative to the pursuers, her works obvious by the "lost" opportunities to either betray the spies or send pursuers after them or both. Of course, JWs hate to consider this, if they ever notice the significance of the omission of verse 25 at all.

  The very first: AltaVista, back in the days.

  I recall feeling a pounding in my head the first time I typed "Jehovah's Witnesses" in the search engine; the pain was real. I didn't dleep that night, and the following four nights. Then it felt like everyone at the KH knew exactly what I'd been doing...

  based on what is written in the bible.. .

  ... that while it is a controversial issue, the refusal of transfusions is a matter of faith for witnesses, and deserves to be respected as their choice.

  Thank you for that link. The report is 140 pages. On which pages does the material discuss Jehovah's Witnesses or the Watchtower Society?

  Pgs 53 & 54. It's a minor but significant note: "Of note was the presense of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Congress". It's a 2001 report of a year 2000 event. Not insignificant, considering the reason for the Congress and the hypocritical and unChristian practice of JWs wrt to blood ('fractions') use and blood donations. .

  This service would make use of a standard toilet and sewage lines to provide free Internet connectivity at a speed of 8Mbps (or 32Mbps with a paid plan). A user drops a weighted end of a long, Google-supplied fiber-optic cable in their toilet and flush it. Around 60 minutes later, the end would be recovered and connected to the Internet by a "Plumbing Hardware Dispatcher (PHD)." The user then connects their end to a Google-supplied wireless router and run the Google-supplied installation media on a Windows XP or Vista computer ("Mac and Linux support coming soon"). Alternatively, a user could request a professional installation, where Google would deploy nanobots through the plumbing to complete the process. The free service would be supported by "discreet DNA sequencing" of "personal bodily output" to display online ads that relate to culinary preferences and personal health.

  Google TiSP was a fictitious free broadband service supposedly released by Google.

  years ago when i was attending my old kh there was an elder that was very stern.

  bro glen(not his real name) used to be very firm in telling students about their talks not being good, or where they needed to improve.

  i know i was "terrified" of bro glen.

  An elder there was in my old congregation; beat the hell outta his wife routinely; the woman 'll cry; she confided in another sister, who confided in another elder, who advised the sister to persevere. She did. Then one day he beat the living daylights out of her again, then she ran out, and it became known to the neighbours. Then enter the elders. Judicial proceedings against the elder brother. I'd asked a MS who knew about this case; his answer, in retrospect, made some JW sense: ".... this elder was not only beating his wife, the neighbours knew about it and it was a great reproach on Jehovah's name...". Yeah, it's about the neighbours knowing. That he beat the woman wasn't bad enough...

  I remember the elder being "stepped-down" though, but I also recall him making a physical attack at the KH on one of the elders on his case.

  On page 129:

  the term "Brainwashed" is disallowed. Almost correct; except that what's happening to JWs as a group is industral strength misinformation.

  All fo the part on disallowed terms makes for interesting reading. Surely, whooever wrote this never thoughtit'll make it to the public domain.

  in another thread the question of a person's memories being placed within a re-created body has been discussed.

  the possibility was raised that what if two bodies were created, and the person's memories were placed in both bodies?

  which re-created person would be the continuation of the original person?.
