Alarming statement in today's study article in WT...
by Mickey mouse inparagraph 15: "as we get nearer to the outbreak of the great tribulation, we may well receive some detailed instructions.
our safe journey through those troublesome days will depend on our keeping in step with other loyal servants of jehovah.
" this in the context of a wt discussing the israelites' exodus from egypt and how jehovah had them into a position where there seemed "no way out".

Coming up on one year on the forum..what I've learned/Thanks
by dawg into the forum, please read even if its long...i want to thank you all.
i remember when i first started posting here, almost one year ago...i had just written letters to evey jw i could find telling them what a bunch of bs the jws were.... most wanted to kill me, including my dad, who called me a fornicator, and called all my friends wanting to know what drug i was on.... i learned that jws will always try and find wrongs in the character who's showing the inconsistiancies, they never will listen to what you're saying just attack your character.
but there have been a few that i've reached; some have even taken a stand with me.. i also learned that people have different circumstances, that i shouldn't judge those that don't take a stand.

Early 1900's:
"The door of the Ark is going to close."
1940's:
"The door of the Ark is closing."
1960's:
"The door of the Ark is almost closed."
1970's:
"The door of the Ark has closed, but it's not locked yet."
2020:
"The door of the Ark has closed and locked, but just as the woman who banged on the door of the judge and finally got her right, people may do the same now."
2050:
"The door of the Ark is closed and locked, but the Watchtower can provide the keys - but you must hurry up."
2070:
"The door of the Ark is closed, locked and barred and it's started to trickle, but the Watchtower can show you a hole in the wood flooring which you can sneak aboard through."
ROTFLOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. What does this kool-aid thing I keep hearing about mean or stand for???

3/08 Awake!: Is There One True Religion?
by Watkins ina dear old jw couple who are like an aunt and uncle to me, sent it in the mail.
the note said, in particularly to my husband, which i thought odd since he's never feigned the slightest interest, ""we thought you'd find pages 3-9 of interest, "is there one true religion".
we both feel that the decision we made (a zillion) years ago in choosing a way of worship was the correct one.

Did You Ever See this in Your Congregation ? Mind Control - By Hassan
by flipper inin steve hassan's book , " combatting cult mind control" it states : " a famous experiment in conformity by dr. solomon asch demonstrated that people will doubt their own perceptions if they are put in a social situation where it appears that the most confident people in the group are all giving the wrong answer to a question.
another psychologist , stanley milgram , tested people for obedience to authority and found that over 90 percent of his subjects would obey orders, even if they believed that doing so caused physical suffering to another person.
milgram wrote : " the essence of obedience consists in the fact that a person comes to view himself as the instrument for carrying out another person's wishes, and therefore no longer regards himself as responsible for his own actions .

thanks flipper!
I've seen the whole power thing many, many times with elders... I guess your around them your whole life, you see it a lot...
My parents were shocked when I was diagnosed with "Paranoid Personality Disorder"... lol, i wonder why...
I must say though, to be able to say things, finally through this forum and actually receive support, is such a great thing!!! Just to be able to say things that have been a weight to me for years and get that burden off me, it's awesome!!!!!!!!
I actually feel like I'm starting to "get better"... I feel like such a happier person!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah ~
my story was a bit the same, I think I told at least part of it here... My dad was a PO, abusive physically and swore a lot, etc...
I said something to an Elder, I was about 7 at the time. I was sooooo scared to tell because I thought my dad would kill me if he found out I told. I kinda accepted it, because if he didn't get found out, I figured he would never stop... (My brothers got the brunt of if...)
The elder never said anything to anybody... I never forgave him for that. Guess my Dad was the most powerful Elder? I don't know, but I felt betrayed and hurt by everyone around me... I hated my mom cause she knew and she saw things firsthand and could help us and did f**kin nuthing. I hated that she let us go through that and didn't do a damn thing...
After that, I felt kinda helpless about it... I just felt that the very ones who were supposed to love me the most were the very ones who betrayed me...
Another JW came to visit once, she heard him screaming swearing... Nothing ever came of it...

This is my first post after many years of reading this site
by And He Ran inthis is my first post after many years of reading this site.
i am from the west midlands, england.
i was raised as a jw and got baptised aged 17, started "fading" whilst at university when i started to broaden my outlook and realised that all the so-called "worldly people" i had for so long been encouraged to avoid associating with were actually often open-minded, honest, generous and loyal people.

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

What a bunch of total jerks.
Who do they think they are, walking around like they are better then us??? Are they freaken crazy???
I worked at in traffic once and somebody's car needed to be moved. I had the keys (they were going to be back in a minute) and so I was just going to move it. The bro. quickly came right over to me and said that I should never move somebodys car. "We wouldn't want anything happening to it." So, I said, "are you saying that your a better driver then me? Just cause I'm a sister doesn't mean I don't know how to drive." I was soooooo mad... I just about threw a fit right there...
