My wife became a US citizen yesterday!!!

yay!

for all of you who say america sucks.... i want you to go down to your closest immigration office and witness a citizenship ceremony.

i watched yesterday all day long as people from all over the world were sworn in as citizens 100 at a time every hour on the hour.

Congratulations that is wonderful. She must be so happy. We are so lucky to be born in the land of the FREE.

I am a US citizen but I have lived in Canada since I was 4 months old since my Dad was a naturlized Canadian (originally from Great Britain), I lived in USA as an adult for about 1 year tops when I was younger. So I really am a Canadian as far as culture but I have resolutely kept my US citizenship for over 50 years as I was always proud to be a American. I am a landed immigrant in Canada and have all the benefits here. This is a good country too but more Socialist in its Government.

I want to move back to the states but where??? Its so much less expensive than Canada.

She was very funny and a great character actress. I am so sad she is gone, I didn't realize she had dementia, that must be something fairly recent.

Would You Go Back?

yesterday, my aunt was talking to one of my siblings about how things have been changing in our [ex] congregation for the 'better'.. she mentioned how a new circuit overseer has come in and is shaking things up.

the co appointed a ministerial servant (someone, the po & secretary didn't like and i know would never have voluntarily suggested appointment) and some of the 'brothers' that have had no 'responsibility' ever are being given #4 talks.

she also mentioned that the book study will be cancelled and the meetings are being shortened.. a ministerial servant who had a vendetta against some of the elders wants me to talk to a co and basically tell him i left the congregation [and the religion] because of the incompetence of the elders.. i'm not talking to the co and i'm not 'blaming' anyone.

NO NO NO, NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I went back in for 7 years after having been disfellowshipped for 10 years. Just because my MOM put the scare/quilt trip on me and convinced me Armageddon was right around the corner and my babies would die. That 7 years was so wasted and unhappy. That was 25 years ago and no Armageddon, my kids are grown up and have kids of their own. I could have ruined their lives and futures too with that depressing religion.

Finally I know its not the truth and no scare tactic or anything they ever say again will get me back in that Organization/Cult.

Just got my copy of "Crisis of Conscience"

after finishing "combatting cult mind control" i decided to move on to the next logical book.

i've read the first 100 pages of "crisis of conscience" and it's gone by really fast.

now i know why this book is so important.

Now I am really anxious to read that book after what you said Jimmy an the others.

I ordered it 7 years ago, started to read it and then got to busy with my business and put it aside. My JW MOM came to visit and I hid it away. In January I finally was in contact with exJW's for the first time and heard that book was the best to help understand that the JW religion is not the truth. I looked high and low for that book and cannot find it. I hid it to well. I ordered it again from Amazon and just got it last week. I can hardly wait to read it. Just finishing off a library book first.

My grandson is 5 too, he was 5 in January and he has identical twin brothers who are 4.

me,wife and son headed to the lake to meet up with some friends on their boat.

suppose to be in the 90's here so looking forward to it.. grilling out on the boat is such an awesome experience.

for some unknown reason to me the food always taste so much better grilled outdoors.

Have fun on the boat, I agree nothing nicer than a day on the water, food and drinks taste so much better.

I am living on the water, we did the BBQ, drinks overlooking the water, went for a nice boat ride before supper...........yesterday, today its pouring rain, no outside stuff today

dear all, thank you for your warm welcome!

this is my story in short (pls excuse wrong spellings, english is not my native tongue and that it still became quite long).. i'm 34 and was born into the truth by parents who in their turn were baptist in young age.

i have one older sister who is currently serving at bethel with her husband and a younger brother who never embraced the truth (which was my big sorrow for many years).

I am almost finished reading "A thousand Splendid Suns" I will be finished later today. I started it on Saturday and its a easy read.

I read the Kite Runner last week.

Khalid Hosseini brings to life the thoughts and life of persons living in Afghanistan before, during and after the atrocities that went on there in the 1980's to 2001. Living in Canada/North America I was only hearing about what was going on in that country over the past 20 years but really had NO idea how bad it was for the people. I knew nothing of their culture or the various types of Afghan people. I knew nothing about the rich heritage they have had. This story enforces just how horrible the Taliban were and how it was to be a woman in those times. How not all men in that country were savages and that there are so much good in every culture.

I am not very good at explaining my thoughts. This story touched me deeply and had me looking up all kinds of information on Afghanistan.
