Hi Ken,

I was born again while still an active Witness. I myself though did not get rebaptized after I left the Witnesses. I suppose it depends on the individual and what their conscience or God's spirit directs them to do.

As for your question whether it's possible to be a Christian without being born again, this I cannot say for others but for myself anyone who loves Jehovah and the Christ is a Christian regardless if they feel they are born again or not. But that's just my opinion.

3 Jehovah's Witnesses Found Murdered

in orange city, volusia county florida, 3 members of the negron family were found murdered in their home in a quiet neighborhood, unknown for any violence.

they were active jws, even hosting meetings in their home.

The article said there had been an assault reported there. Their photos look more like mugshots of drug dealers.

These people were murdered. Why poke fun at the dead?

What kind of person does that?

Do you think the governing body sincerely believe what they teach?

i haven't had a chance to read crisis of conscience yet, it's a 2 month wait here unfortunately for delivery and i feel it will probably answer some of my questions regarding the gb but it occurs to me - i wonder if they *really* believe what they teach, if they *really* believe it's the truth or are they really manipulating money makers operating a dysfunctional mlm scheme that ruins people's lives.

or perhaps somewhere in the middle lol.. oh yeah, and if anyone knows how the 'new light' is supposedly delivered i'd love to hear about it.. what do you think?

I think the Governing Body members may not have full trust in everything they teach but they have enough belief in the general teachings of the Society to continue on. Raymond Franz did not indicate that these men were outright liars just misled, followers of followers.

Unfortunately they forgot they were supposed to be followers of only the Christ and not men.

Gee, I don't know what to say. But this I will throw out for whoever may read this: To compare "Christianity" with the words of Jesus Christ is not too dissimilar from comparing the U.S. Declaration of of Independence and the U.S. Constitution to the goings on in Washington D.C today. One is not necessarily a true representation of the other.

Many decry the actions of Congress and of the President because they fall far short of the words in those two documents. It is the same with Christianity, it falls far short of the words of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ has little to do with Christianity today and those who decry Christianity should not equate him with the thing they decry. Jesus preached love of neighbor. He also preached that any who did not follow him were wrong. Surely it is not too hard to see that any who do not have some love for their neighbor or their fellow will eventually go the wrong way totally.

What exactly are the teachings of Jesus that so many here disagree with?

Help - it's drawing me in again

hmm, not sure how to write this - here goes:.

i left the jw's about 15 years ago however my 18 year old son is a witness.

we haven't seen each other for many years and the only contact we have is via the telephone occasionally (all this is cool btw).

May I suggest that you e-mail Raymond Franz at his Commentary Press site and express your concerns to him. He is very capable and loving and will I am sure give the best advice he can.

Thinking of writing a letter

i am thinking of writing a letter of disasociation, sometimes when faced with a hard decision i make a list, a lot of times it takes a number of lists befor i get any clearity.

here is my list so far.. 1) do i really need to in order to recover?

its been almost 8 years doesnt time help to heal?.

Jumper,

Wednesday has given you good advice. Handing in a letter of disassociation is a one way street, no turning around from that decision.

Please, take your time and make that decision using your full mental faculties and no emotion. You can fade, and you can also make a personal statement with your fading. Please carefully consider before you write your letter.

Taking stock of my blessings....

i've been df'd for a number of years, and up until recently have been able to maintain a fairly close relationship with my parents.

dad passed away a few years back and since then i have tried to keep my mom busy so she wouldn't be alone - phone calls, shopping, dinner, etc - and i took care of things around her house for her.

well now mom has decided that she needs to follow the wt rules and cut the "socializing" with me - of course, it's "acceptable" for me to still go take care of her when she needs it .

Dawn what a beautiful outlook!

In my life peace is finally taking hold and I wish peace for you and your family also. Our friends and relatives in the Organization do not really have peace. They're working to have life in the new system and that work brings much more anxiety than peace.

By living my life in peace and contentment I feel I am making a lie of what the Society says about those who have become inactive or have left. There is peace outside of the Organization, there is peace, happiness, contentment and above all peace with God also.

Your Mom is only doing what she is told to do not what she really wants to do I am sure. I hope she sees through the wrongness of what the Watchtower is telling her very soon.

Circuit Assembly Report

coming out of the lurking mode to give you all a report on the 2 day ca that i attended this past weekend.

i always enjoy other reports that have been posted so i thought i would share my observations.

i attend with my jw hubby to keep him company so he doesn't have to go alone, that's the only reason that i go.. i didn't take any notes, so i'm doing this by memory.

This is so very sad. The Society does not see the forest for the trees, they continue on the same path even when the spiritual legs and arms of publishers are being hacked off. The brothers at Bethel are blind. "Blind guides" as Jesus said.

Many are spiritually dying while the Society churns its presses ever faster. They don't seem to care about the brothers only about keeping the literature flowing to preach the kingdom. I wish Jesus would come soon because when he does the brothers will get quite a shock when he says to them, "get away from me you workers of lawlessness." It was the loving care for the brothers that Jesus emphasized not the preaching work. Certainly if a Christian were to be lacking it would be better to be lacking in the preaching dept. rather than love for brother.

What does the WTS do with its billions of dollars ?

My guess would be that quite a bit of money is invested in all the branch facilities and other properties around the world. But personally I really don't know.

i posted here just a little back in january of 2001. i scrambled out of here right quick then since i was still active and fearful of so many things.

i am inactive but not exactly a non jw yet.

i am a conservative person and still believe that some of the teachings of jws are good though i do not agree with everything that's for sure!

Sometimes I let my mind go back to the many District Conventions in my life and think about sitting nearby to so many brothers and sisters, families and older folks, all sharing a day together. JWD is a little like that I think. Though the talks are slightly different.
