I am invested in my relationship as it exists, but if it (for any reason) were to end... I do believe I would be opposed or disinterested in creating another relationship. I suppose I'm a bit of a loner and need a lot of space, it was something I just didn't understand about myself as a teenager when I married. He is much the same. I totally get why someone would choose that path.

Not interested in marriage/romance?
by LtCmd.Lore inokay, so the site is full of people talking about their husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, ex-wives, ex-husbands, ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends, childhood crushes, current crushes, future crushes, favorite positions, etc.. .
by the very nature of rejecting marriage, there's very rarely an occasion to voice our disinterest in romance.
we just kind of sit their silently while everyone else talks about their sexual and romantic preferences.. i'm sure i'm not the only one here, so how about it?

Are people born hamsexual?
by SixofNine inare people born with a desire to be with the other white meat?
why would a person choose that path when it leads to criticism, hatred, alienation, high cholesterol etc.
why wouldn't they just be normal if they could.

I've been a vegetarian for years, and yet pork is the one animal food that actually smells and sounds good still. Other meats actually looks, smells and sound gross to me.
The Mosaic Law, the Gospels and then Paul are the three main contradictory styles in the bible that prevent me from seeing the bible as the cohesive musings of a single God entity who "does not change".
Well, that and I am familiar with hallucinogenics... I know what it is like to think that crazy, random thoughts are somehow inspired ;)

For those who were on restrictions: Did it bother you not to comment?
by truthseeker ini'm curious to know if not beng able to comment at meetings was something you felt badly about if you were on restrictions.. i don't comment anyway, but i hardly think not being able to comment is a "restriction" in itself.. .

I forgot for a moment, but I was on restrictions once for about a year. It didn't bother me because (contrary to how it appears online) I'm actually really quiet and commenting was just not something I did all that often.
I think it bothered DH more, especially at book study. I seem to remember switching to the hall book study to be less obvious about it.

When my DH and his best friend were DF'd they'd come in late and walk all the way to the front row and take their seat. Once we were togehter we always sat in the back... He never really had any privileges though, if you couldn't guess. They'd occasionally have special needs about leaving the last few rows open to those who were late... but it was rarely enforced.

Lovers who need a Holiday
by YoursChelbie ini think there's a song somewhere that mentions that sometimes lovers need a holiday, time away from each other.. does it help two people to see things more clearly when they spend some time away?
has it helped you ?.
after the dust settles, you either move on and forget all about them or you gain a different perspective on the whole relationship.

I do enjoy time and space when DH is working away from home. I love to be by myself, it is recharging. And it is nice to have a chance to miss each other. I can't say I'd seek it out, but I enjoy it when it presents itself. So does he, I think.

QUOTE: (one day I will learn to do it right)
"Their usually are two types of daters: those who are 'friends' first and then date or those who base things on self awareness and chemistry."That is funny because my DH and I married within 3 months of meeting, so we weren't friends at all. Our relationship was based only on chemistry and physical connection at first. The friendship is something that developed.
That said, I hate ice cream, pedicures, day spas, shoes, shopping... and most of my friends in my life have been men. I also find metrosexual guys endearing. So maybe that explains something.
I will add that we share very few common interests or traits. The only I can think of is kayaking. But that is what makes us have fun together, we always have so much to introduce each other to. He is type A, straight laced, slightly OCD, and relatively serious extrovert. I'm a free spirit, type B, slightly ADD, relatively crazy introvert. It is a fun dynamic. (he also owns way more shoes than I do, lol)

I've never had a closer friend than my husband. I've never felt safe sharing my deeper thoughts with anyone else. I do like it that way- I can't imagine being as close to a girlfriend.
That said, I don't think mystery and friendship are mutually exclusive. Sometimes sharing those deeper thoughts and hopes, fears, etc really show how much of your mate you don't know yet. There is so much about me that he doesn't grasp and surely the same goes for him. We've been married for 10 years, and we will are often surprising each other with what is inside, which builds a mystery of its own variety, especially since people evolve and change over the years.
So in short, I do like having a best friend and I have no need for a strong, silent type. I do like people who think more than they talk I suppose, but that is really unrelated.

WT-Says Moms Should not Work
by leaving-jws inthe feb 1, 2008 wt has an article on p. 28 called finding fulfillment as a mother.
the article basically states that moms should not work outside of the home but stay at home with their kids to teach them things about jehovah.
it also states that moms that want to work outside the home full-time do so not out of economic necessity but to boost their self worth, to obtain financial independence or to pay for luxuries.

To start, I disagree that it is a fact that pre-K and K are good for kids. It all depends on your idea of good. My kids do learn at home, and I am home most of the time my husband is at work. I also have a fulfilling photography career. Believe it or not some people choose home education for secular reasons. We just choose to use a constructivist approach, which isn't available in any schools locally. (You can wikipedia "constructivist theory" if you aren't familiar). In addition to Judo, Art, Suzuki, and Yoga classes- my kids have hours of interaction with their peers each week. Homeschooling is not what it used to be.
I am a feminist, and I think this is such bunk... but it is what we were always taught. It isn't new at all. This is the grooming most of us had our whole life. Having daughters and wanting them to have more options than I had is what got me out. Thankfully while I was young enough to do something with my own life as well.
Sandy, I support a woman's right to CHOOSE to work. Just as a man might not feel fulfilled being a SAHD a mother might likewise feel unfulfilled in that role. If I didn't have my business to feel personally and financially rewarded, I would probably not be the mom that I am. It may go against your desires and be something you can't understand, but that doesn't make it wrong. There is nothing wrong with choosing that path, there are many many kick ass working moms in our society.

Having a good conscience although doing things not approved
by JH inwould you have had a good conscience at the meetings if you would have given or taken blood, and knowingly broken a jw law?.
basically, what i'm asking is, "would you have been able to have a good conscience as a jw, although you know you did something you deserve to get disfellowshipped for.. .
