Fade- If the president can call for economic stimulus then he can damned well help those folks out- a measly $600 ain't sh*t and isn't going to do much to help the economy imo. Yes, it's true many of those folks screwed themselves, but that doesn't mean the mortgage companies didn't have a hand in it, approving folks for loans they knew they couldn't afford. Check the thread regarding tent cities and you'll see that many of those who went thru foreclosures cannot afford to rent, and are in fact living in tents or wherever they can find a spot. This morning I saw a heartbreaking piece on the news about the pets that are paying the price now- their owners loose their homes and they have to give up their pets to move to an apartment (if they're lucky) or feed their families. I don't know what the answer is, but those people need help. I think you'd probably feel differently if you were in the same situation... -Potential

I agree with Gopher- we had no business going there in the first place, now we are fighting a never ending war that also can NEVER be won. These opposing religious forces have been fighting each other for thousands of years and they have no plans of stopping any time soon. Now our American soldiers are caught in the middle and dying because of it. The cost is unimaginable in both terms of dollars and human lives lost. Three trillion dollars???! I can't even begin to comprehend what that number means! But the bottom line is this- it means money spent on a war that was gone into under false pretenses and can never be won. What about the people in the street who have been forced out of their homes due to mortgage foreclosure? - they could use even just a fraction of that money to bale them out. -Potential

Why Jesus didnt address the Father as Jehovah?
by Tino insince the jehovah witnesses claim that god must always be referred to jehovah and the fact that others don't do this proves jehovah's witnesses are the only true church, why is god not always identified as jehovah in the bible?
why did jesus not address the father as jehovah?.

All good points- but the straight to the heart of it fact is this: the word/name Jehovah does not appear in the New Testament at all, because it is a Hebrew word, and the NT wasn't written in Hebrew, but rather in Greek. -Potential

Do you enjoy listening to music from another generation?
by JH insome people only like recent music, maybe because they don't want to identify themselves to an older generation.. often, i'll listen and download music that played when i was a kid, and really enjoy it..

Stop with the Clinton bashing already! PLEASE!!! Hillary isn't my favorite person, but Bill did more for this country than he gets credit for. Unfortunately most of the good he did has been undone by the braying jackass that currently occupies the white house. -Potential

Anti-Witness Dinner
by Wordly Andre inwednesday night wife and i had dinner out at a local restaurant, this place is kind of a family place not too loud, i started telling her about that murrieta, ca molestation case, during our conversation i realized that the people in the booth behind me were jw's, because i heard the lady tell her husband "i think he is a brother", after i heard that i really starting going into details and how it's not right that elders would put the safety and wellfare of a child in risk only to cover up so as not to bring reproach on jehovahs name.
i started telling her my opinion on the whole confidence issue, and how jw's announce sinners and punishment to the congergation that, that voids expectation of silence.
another issue i brought up was the fact that my cousin is df'd and shunned because she is gay, and how this guy who molested children is not shunned.

Mr. Flipper's Conversation over Coffee w/ JW Daughter - Mixed Results
by flipper init is truly amazing the varied emotions i've felt since my jw daughter has been talking to me after not talking to me for 9 months .
" i replied, " i haven't said anything about the witnesses today .
she had told me an elder from my area had given a talk in her congregation 30 miles away , and she told him i have issues with the child abuse scandal.

Mr Flipper- keep plugging away, you're making progress and you have a plan- I hope it works! Wonderful that you were able to actually see your daughter, I pray that she'll come to realize that your relationship is so much more important than what anyone in the organization thinks about her associating with you. Hot- welcome to the board! -Potential

JW spanking their kids
by asilentone inwhat do you think about jw spanking their kids at the kingdom hall?

WT has a lot of great points, especially about the public school system. When my child was in first grade they tried to tell me he was adhd. I had him tested and he wasn't- he was just a very bright kid who was able to "get" stuff easily, so once he got it he was at loose ends and wanted to play. I have to agree with Passive and Timbob- there is a time and place for spanking. It's not ever to be done in anger. Times when I knew I was too angry I did not spank, but stepped back from the situation. My son never got into ANY major trouble, he's now 19. There are too many kids that have no discipline at ll and they're the ones that you see running amok. Mom and Dad say "don't do that", but when the behavior continues they ignore it or make empty threats that are never followed through with. I NEVER spanked my kid in public, however. That is more than a punishment- it's humiliation. -Potential

Any Jericho Fans?
by CaptainSchmideo intonight was (apparently) the final episode, as cbs has made the incredibly brain dead decision to cancel it.. i liked it.
the conspiracy plot kinda dragged on and on, but some of the other subplots and ideas (especially about the corporatization of america, and the obligation of citizens to reject a government that no longer represents the interests of the people) were not normal television fodder.. oh, well.
it was a good experience while it lasted..... .

I was really pissed when I saw in the show info that it was the series finale- I, too thought it was only the season finale. What a bunch of dipsh*ts at CBS! Tons of fans write in so they won't cancel the show and they give us one SHORT season?! Bogus! I hope sci-fi does pick it up. I love Skeet Ulrich as Jake, and Hawkins is a definite bad ass! I'm with Willy - I liked invasion too! Moshe- I doubt that Jericho was a big enough town to have an airport or even strip. They never spoke about one being part of the town. There's a lot that could be done with the series- that last episode did NOT wrap it up satisfactorily for me! -Potential
