  ok, something has been bugging me recently, so please forgive meas i play devil's advocate for a moment.

  child abuse of any type is horrific, and when it is sexual innature it can cause unimaginably cruel and life-long damage.i think we can all agree on that.

  however, in the past irreparable damage to people's lives havealso been caused by accusations of child abuse that turnedout to be baseless... families are torn apart, trust is shredded, reputations ruined, all because a child misunderstood something, or fabricated a story to get attention, or was pressured by paranoid and possibly abused adults into remembering things that never happened.

  Watchtower should turn it over to the legal authorities. It shouldn't be a matter of the elders calling the Legal Department and forming a private Judicial Committee to handle it the same as over-drinking, smoking, or taking a blood transfusion.

  What about defense for the innocent? As OUTLAW states, use a lie detector. Is there any forensic evidence? Police and psychology professionals have gotten much better in understanding the child and the criminal mind, so be honest and trust them

  I certainly agree with billy here. I have seen many cases in our area, how can these elders be capable of these matters they do not have any professional expertise in this area to help

  anyone. I know my niece was abused by a pedophile the family was turned upside down for years. And so called elders let this a-hole go from cong to cong knowing what he was

  without warning any parents, no doubt because his father was an elder. One elder up north here was finally dealt with when all the victims came forward there were 25 cases in the same

  cong. over a 40 yr period from the same guy.

  i knew a brother who was an ms. his father was an elder in a neighboring congregation, a "rich" congregation.

  his chest was always puffing out because of this.

  of course, he would only engage in conversation with those who were also of "the privileged class".

  I say never speak to soon you never know when it will come back to bite you in the a$$.

  And when we went to the hall, in our last congregation, they were basically treated like they had leprosy

  My kids always got the short end of the stick too at the KH. I know they do go around to other parents and warn about certain kids as being bad association. Some of it it made up bull

  by little informants.

  For those who were on restrictions: Did it bother you not to comment?

  i'm curious to know if not beng able to comment at meetings was something you felt badly about if you were on restrictions.. i don't comment anyway, but i hardly think not being able to comment is a "restriction" in itself.. .

  I actually not down on christian music as I would of been in the strict jw days. This guy sounds a little like Don williams country singer my dad use to listen to. He has a nice voice.

  I listened to a station on the way to Alberta once really thought it was upbeat. I realized after an hour it was christian rock. But I kind of liked it. Now if they sang that at the hall how into singing people might get instead of that monotone sound.

  just talked to a mate, he was disfellowshipped a few years before me, came to my wedding after i was.

  he's a bit of a party animal but a good kid really.

  he's back in his hometown and going to meetings, i think he'll try to get reinstated, the poor suck.

  I'm sorry your feeling a little shocked by this but many jw's don't seem to find a place when they leave. Unless they can find peace within and a place in life the pressure of family can be crucial to them.

  He may go back and then fade only time will tell. Did you see that twilght zone video posted by (free2beme) it says alot, its quite interesting.

  Tardiness and opening prayers ....

  i'm sure everyone remembers the "stellar" prayers that are offered from the platform before the start of the meetings.

  at one point, it was customary for the brother to pray that jehovah "hasten the feet" of those on their way to the meetings.

  after all, with family responsibilities etc.

  No worries, I didn't take it that way. I just felt if I knew others were praying for me because I was always late would not make me feel good.

  Lucky Country Aussie Black Licorice...

  i was delivering a load of freight to a "tuesday morning" store in gretna florida last week...while there i did some shopping and found this lucky country aussie black licorice it was $5 for a 1lb package...i thought it was a little steep but i love black licorice and took a chance...blew me away the best black licorice i have ever had anyone else ever heard of this licorice....
