Wow , those exact water boilers were in use when I was a kid at Twickenham, just think the adults in attendence there are all most probably dead, or broke and dissapointed. No fun for kids though the exact opposite , what could be funny about being burnt to a crisp or pissed on for 4/5 days with bloody evening sessions as well?

STARTING OVER with my Elderette - What Does the Bible REALLY Teach?
by Faithful Witness inshe said, "so, what made you decide to study this book?
at this point, she opened with a prayer.
"...and some decide that such questions are best left to religious leaders and teachers.

My Elderette is attempting to change the subject again
by Faithful Witness inwe were in the middle of discussing their use of god's personal name, and miss k was not able to find one place in the bible, where jesus actually said the name out loud (that wasn't a quote from the ot).
we had started out by talking about jesus being "the way, the truth and the life.
" then she stated that one of the purposes of jesus' coming to earth, was "to make god's name known.

point 1) prayer, you are very much in the embryo stage of the timetable she has set for you in her mind, the fact that there is a feeling of informailty about these sessions is why she has not prayed, if you agree to a proper study of the Teach book ( thats why she keeps pushing it) then the air of informality will change and she will probably open and close the session in prayer.
point 2) she has absolutely zero interest in you, your kids, your husband or how generally things are with you, she is there soley to recruit and try to place books with you thats why she keeps on asking you to take a study of the Teach book
point 3) poor listener, nothing out of the ordinary there, she is a hard core Dub with decades of experience is debating with a vast array of members of society she is only interested in forcing through her points , thats why its now a good time to stop these sessions , her listening wont improve LOL!

I'm with WMF here, you know how many converts are recruited this way , next step is "she really does have some valid arguements/ she isnt such a bad person after all," and constantly you keep letting her control the confrontation

JWs in a frenzy!
by leaving_quietly inanyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

If Jehovah God was a C.E O. of a company With a Goal of Transforming this Earth into a Paradise He has Failed miserably.
by smiddy init may be argued it started out ok , but soon turned to crap with mismanagement.
the first big booboo came when jehovah chose abels sacrifice over cains .
(jehovah) choose a man who slaughters one of his own creations , spilling blood , murdering if you will one of his own creations , then approving him over a man , cain ?

his CV is bloody rubbish isnt it, the list is endless,
1) Screwd up in Eden
2) screwed up with the flood and 100 years after
3) screwed up with his so called people "the nation of Israel"
4) screwed up with the King David incident
5) sent his son to a pointless death, while his son lied to the world
6) sent some pointless mumbo jumbo to a apostle and dedicated an entire book to it and let mankind think it had modern day meanings an fullfillments.
Jeehovah , you have failed ! clear your desk .

WHY NOT fire Jehovah and hire a BETTER God?
by Terry inwhat kind of god are you looking for?.
the one i want to hire has to fill these requirements:.
1. kind to a fault without being a namby-pampy hippy.

the problem is this angry evil diety of the OT has got the contract for eternity , the bidding process was clearly unfair as there wasn't a tender in place or bids from other dieties and we are paying the price, in the real world Jeehovah should have been fired after the idiot screwed up with the mess in Eden.

It's Foolish to Believe the Watchtower Will Always Be Around.
by kneehighmiah inseptember 11, 2001. riding the bus to school that tuesday morning we discussed the implications of the monday night football game between the broncos and the dolphins.
by lunchtime our entire world have changed dramatically.
america had passed into a new era that would lead to major changes.

I think it will still be around in some shape of form , but it will continue to change, my father always used to boast that " if I was the only JW in the entire world I'd still believe it" how many still have that mindset ? tons of them. The WT of my childhood is unreconisable to the WT of today, we will wait.
