  If you got caught by the elders...............

  if you got caught by the elders, say smoking, and they d/f you would you tell them about being "apostate"?

  i mean honestly, if they want to "take me down", i would rather go out,with them knowing i think it is all bull.

  did any of you that are d/f for some petty wtbs interpretation of sin, decide to tell them about what you beleive since learning the real truth about the wtbs?

  I spent the first year of my DF'd life trying to get back into the WTS. I knew it was only because I missed my "friends". Now I look back and kind of laugh but at the time it was very painful. I knew it was all bullshit then but I just wanted to go with the flow. It's all up to you man. If you think you can help more people out of the JW by staying in and that is what you care about then stay. If you're just tired of their obvious BS then leave and laugh to yourself sadly everytime you see one of them out preaching.

  hi everyone,.

  i am a new poster who is putting off their own personal story of finding this site for a while..... i find alot of people here utterly fascinating, and would like to know..... exactly what is everyones professional field of work?.

  i would like to be a full time poster on this forum, but alas, the $$$$ are quite light in that field of work.. apologies if this has been asked before.. just curious.

  I'm a stay home dad so I get to see my babay all the time. 32 and just started college for Radiological Tech. My JW days I was a janitor and no I'm not going to gloss over it by saying custodial engineer. Just got a job offer from a new game developement company but I don't want to move.

  i know that when i was a j.w, the one thing i hated most was the unloving slanderous gossip that went on in most congregations.. the worst gossip that went around about me was that i was a satanist.. how about you?

  About 15 minutes after I hugged my regular pioneer Goddess girlfriend I had a MS come up to me while I was working behind the counter and pull me to the side saying that some were concerned about my "conduct". My first response, "Who are they?" He didn't want to tell me just that I should watch out because some of them may go to the elders. By this time I was insta pissed. And I actually swore loud enough for the whole noisy congregation to shut up. I said,"Well you go gather their asses up now! Because I'd be happy to go to the elders. While we're there they can explain why they can't mind their own damn business." Needless to say it was never brought up again.

  i have written a letter to the sister i have been studying with explaining why (cowardly, i know but that's kinda the way i am)i have packed up all the books i've been given (what to do with them?

  You have made the wisest choice in your life. You may not even know how important that descision was. Those of us who were "in" know well the dangers of the WTS. If you choose to remain Christian you'll find that other churches are much more in line with the teachings in the bible. But always, always reserve yourself the right to question a belief. I also don't think that you have to 100% agree with everything to gain something from it. Good Luck to you. I'm so happy I'm cheesin.

  I saw some woman on the 700 club (I watch it for the comedy/which is pretty much everything) who was absolutely convinced that the reason the terrorists were able to kill so many americans is because she hadn't prayed enough. Her faith wasn't strong enough so that is why God didn't stop the WTC from toppling down. Can we just pass out the Kool-Aid now and get it over with?

  Cain and Abel - The TRUE Story

  its interesting that in the book of genesis we are introduced to cain as a farmer, a cultivator of the land.

  when he made offerings to jehovah he offered to him the best fruits of his labor.

  we are also introduced to his brother abel who was not a cultivator of the land but a herder of sheep.

  Interesting idea. I always found it amazing how most people gloss over the hypocritical nature of the stories in the bible. Jezebel was a bad person because she stood up for herself and said "no". However, let's give Ruth an entire book because she got some guy so rippin drunk that she was able to trick him into having sex with her even though she knew he was married. All praise be to Jah for allowing drunkeness and adultry so long as it suits his needs. Better yet the story of Noah. How imperfect is God that he made creatures that "angered" him so he decided to kill everyone. Did he lack the ability to see into their hearts and just have his angels smite down those that were "angering" him? I like it when people take a different view of the events in the Bible. I'd never thought of the Cain and Abel story in that context.

  Evolution is not the answer.

  evolution is not the answer to most of the important questions about life and how it got here.. if current evolutionary ideas are true they only tell a very small part of the story.. simply how random changes to animate and inanimate things can be mechanicly selected by sutible enviroments and prosper in them.. there is still lots about us to explain.. what is the source of the matter in our universe, what caused the "big bang"?.

  what is consciousness and how does it work?.

  what causes the fundemental forces and how do they work?.

  It is funny when these debates come up. Most atheists won't answer this post because it is like talking to a wall. With all of the evidence I can see how some would believe in evolution. If all a creationist is using is the bible to prove creationism then they are seriously ignorant. There is, however, a scientist who has a theory that mankind as we know it has been around since the begining and we just grew up alongside other humanoids. He was kicked off of the university speaking circuit by his fellow scientists who basically called it heresy. Which would go back to my science has become a religion idea.
  The fact is...evolution does happen. This cannot be denied no matter how stupid you want to look in front of other people. Do I believe we came from Primates? No. Evolution doesn't just have a missing link they have about 500ft. of chain missing. I guess I'd have to go with the, "We were created by aliens as a genetic experiment." It's more fun ;)

  ......it puts them into a state of disequilibrium.. take, for example, the case of someone who has been disfellowshipped from the organisation.

  heads will nod knowingly and wisely if that person should:.

  do drugs.. become alcoholic.. become promiscuous.. such is the price paid for someone who "turns his back on jehovah".

  It's funny my mother doesn't call all that much either. Of course being pagan doesn't help (I think she is catching on). My family is quite happy. As soon as I finish school our financial belt will be greatly loosened. It's funny because if I use JW thinking it goes back to my "Satan is a people person" theory. He has certainly done more for my happiness than Jehovah.

  You guys kidding? When I was a JW, the best part of the conventions were laughing at the "moron" apostates with picket signs. My friends and I would always walk by them laughing. Of course that was a long time ago. Now I feel no need to expend energy acknowledging their existence. But this site has been great for discussions even after all these years.
