Well, I don't know you so there are a few key items I'm missing. Were you two married as witnesses, are you still a witness, and do you still want to be a witness? Most of the problems occure in witness marriages when religion is the only thing the two people have in common. All I can say is try to be there for her and set a good example. I'm not going to encourage you to go to meetings as I firmly believe that religion to be total crap. However, you should also protect yourself emotionally because if she realizes she's been lied to by the WTS she may equate them to you. There are plenty of examples of how people marriages became stronger after a couple left the WTS. Just try to find something for the two of you to do where the topic of religion does not come up. One of the things that always pissed me off about my parents is that they had to constantly search the Watchtowers for answers to any question I came up with. Not to be a downer but this could be the begining of the end. Although, if you set the example you could find your marriage to be more rewarding than ever. I hope you get something from my incoherent babbling.

Religious Bigotry and the Divine Puzzle
by professor inif you think about the advances we earthlings have made, for example, just over the past 50 or 100 years in science, medicine, travel, communication, and human rights, it reveals that we are progressive beings.
it is in our nature to learn from our mistakes and our discoveries.
we keep finding better ways to do things.

While I kinda agree with you, I think you will find that there are plenty of religions that don't claim to be the one true path. The reason that Christianity, Judahism, and Islam get so much attention is that they are by their nature absolutist religions. I'm sure it is very empowering to believe that you are beholding of key knowledge and an omnipotent being has got your back. However, nationalism is just as dangerous and doesn't always have to be religously motivated. Cambodia is an example of this. Of course every religous person likes to spout off things like, well Hitler may have been baptized and claimed to be a christian but he wasn't a true christian. As I posted before, these kinds of statements are a convenient way to cleanse your mind of any thoughts that there might be something wrong with a core belief that you're right and everyone else is wrong. I also posted this, sorry to sound like a broken record, if everyone just lived like we do and followed the Bible everything would be good in the world. This line of thinking is the height of arrogance but all of us I'm sure have thought this before. The difference between just thinking this and putting it into action is huge. I'm getting tired so my thoughts are starting to trail off..........

Religion Wins Too Often
by Dutchie ini thought this was interesting:.
when religion and children's welfare are at odds, religion wins too often
why is it, in this society, that we have been so willing to accommodate religious institutions at the risk of children's welfare?

This is why I won't vote for Republicans anymore. They've been infiltrated by the christian coalition. I don't really want to vote for the Democrats either because I hate their 'give everyone a free ride attitude'. This self rightous streak has started to permeate our government in the belief that God is 'on our side'. I can't remember where I saw the segment, maybe MSNBC, but it was on how the christian coalition is influencing the government. I know it sounds conspiracy theorists but I had never even thought about it until this newscast. I believe the fall of this nation, and it will fall, will come from the christian far right. Also there is the blatant misconception that the founding fathers were christian so we have to give religion, especially christianity, a break. This is not true as most of them were Dionist. I hear what you're saying though Dutchie. Too often I hear some arrogant speaker talking about the moral implications of a certain topic when there should be none or they are merely trying to impress their sense of morality on everyone else.
I believe that most people hold the belief that 'if everyone in the world would just live like we do there would be no problems'. This type of stupidity is also strengthened by using selective exposure methods to reinforce a viewpoint that you already have. Militant christianity, and there is such a thing, is the most dangerous because it is so organized and widely accepted in this country. I also think that using the Bible to solve this countries quandries has already been shown to be disastrous. They used the Bible in the south to justify slavery, they used it to justify making inter-racial marriages illegal, they use it now to justify making same sex marriages illegal, they use it now to justify keeping needy adoptable children away from same sex parents. Now if the Republicans drop that whole 'we are the God squad attitude' and go back to being all about money I'll vote for them again.

I worked for a year at a Janitorial service owned by 3 elders. The day I quit I got into a giant yelling match with the head dick..errr elder. My final yell was, "God! You're such a fucking moron. Fuck off!" Man that felt so good. But what felt better was they got anally probed the next year by the I.R.S for tax evasion.

What is God's view of judgement?
by Bleep inhere are most views:.
1)adam sinned so when we die we automaticly go to heaven if we are good or hell if we are bad.
2) our judgement according to this is here on earth so if we live only to be two years old that is how long we have to show that we are good.. jw views:.

Funny, I've heard this same diatribe back in 1980, 1985, 1990. I feel sad for those whose lives are so pathetic now that they dream of a mythical cleansing to give them a new start. I believe it was the discovery channel that had a series on cult beliefs and apocolypse theorists. They said the only way for this belief to work is to convince the follower that these changes will occur in their lifetime. I can honestly say that at one time they had me totally convinced.
Well....some say we'll see Armageddon soon,
I certainly hope we will, I sure could use a vacation...

The Bible Does Not Condemn Witchcraft
by Sirona inthe jws are against anything remotely pagan and they're certainly against witchcraft.
they say the bible condemns it.
scriptures such as exodus 22:v18 "you must not preserve a sorceress alive" (nwt) or as the king james version says "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live".

Thanks for the response. I don't know a whole lot about the Alexandrian way of Wicca as I'm just at the begining of studying as well. Pretty much your assessment of magick and wicca come to what I believe as well. I've viewed rituals and magick working as nothing more than prayers with more involved. While there are Pagan influences throughout the bible christianity has become something different all together. Christianity has become an absolutist religion with some bordering on extremism. I doubt very much if many christians would shed a tear if someone bombed a pagan festival. My only concern is that in trying to use the Bible to validate witchcraft you lose the uniqueness of witchcraft altogether. Of course this is strictly my opinion. Since I don't believe the Bible to be the word of god anything that someone tries to pull out of it as law is irrelevent to me. You may as well read from The Lord of the Rings because both are just stories. That being said, I do believe that the Bible contains what I consider 'simple truths'. These are things that people already knew but it just got put into writing.
You are far more tolerant of those who hate us than I am and you should be commended for it. However, I believe in what Ghandi said, "The only thing that a tolerant person should not tolerate is intolerance." So long as christians hold onto the, "We are right, you are wrong" attitude they will remain in the realm of intolerance. I would love to coorespond with you by email. I still have your address from the last mail so I'll try to throw something together that is a little more cooherent than this post.

Ahhhh!! Dutchie and Bono stop it I think my head is going to explode.
Are you serious Bendrr? My problem is I was there but alseep with my eyes open. I remember a repeated talk about how as armageddon is going down people won't be able to kill us, thus bullets will stop in the air before they reach us (maybe this was a premonition of the Matrix).

I can't believe you people can't figure out what Satan would do with a set of scissors. He's the all powerful, literal incarnation of evil. He would obviously RUN WITH THEM. Not only that he would hold the pointy end outward instead of inward.
There are sooo many stupid things I've heard it is hard to single one out. How about stupid JW jokes like, "Why do all of Jehovah's people need umbrella's? For the thousand year reign." insert stupid laughter here.
Man I'm drawing a blank on the stupid comment thing. I've got like thousands of them swimming around but none are coming to the surface. I was told not to go to College because the world wouldn't last past 1995.
