We are all victims and survivors of a cult. That's it.

Just got this email
by Cindi_67 ini received an email from my sister in law.
she was relating an experience given in a talk at an assembly.
a young couple wanted to have children, but they couldn't conceive, so they decided to adopt a child.

It would be more realistic if the adopted child was a JW, so the parents became JWs (reluctantly).

73% of JW's leave "The Truth." Jehovah's Witnesses 2008 statistics revisted
by Spook ini participated in several discussions on this forum regarding the self reported statistics of jehovah's witnesses and the deep fundamental flaws in their methods.
after arguing with my jw family about these issues, i encountered today a new independant religious survey from the pew forum on religion and public life.
this survey was huge in scope of test group when compared with other similar surveys, including more than 35,000 u.s. adults.

Mormon documentary on PBS
by TweetieBird inthere was an interesting documentary on the mormons yesterday.
you could substitute jw for mormon for most of it (except teachings) especially concerning obedience to the higher ups, not questioning the organization, etc.
they disfellowship and excommunicate (excommunication being a worse fate) and if anyone questions the church they are considered an apostate.

Well, let me ask you ... what is the best way to get someone out of the Mormon cult?

What would the "New Scrolls" say about you?
by JH inlets imagine that there would be "new bible scrools" to be added to the bible later on, what would you like it to say about you?.
.

There was this one movie where they find the Testament of Jesus Christ and in it there are scriptures that
abolish the churches. The Catholics felt it wasn't an official Testament and hide it away or else it would
destroy the whole Christiandom organization.
I'd like to find a scroll like that.

Silentlamb needs to vent!
by feenx ini swear to god i feel like a friggin tard right now!!
i have so much crap piled on that i feel like i'm starting to crack, and honestly, as i'm sure many other silentlambs can relate to, i start to get incredibly angry that not only do i have to deal with this sh*t at all, but also that despite my best efforts, conscious efforts, to overcome things, to heal and to move on with a healthy life, i still have times where i feel like it just breaks me.
where things feel hopeless.

STRICKLY HYPOTHETICAL......
by agapa37 inthis question is a hypothetical one, posing a, what would you do type situation.
think back to the days of the bible kings for the nation of israel.
there were bad kings who took israel off track by their rule and some good kings who instituded changes that brought them back on track.

The only reason I say "No more door-to-door" is mostly because it's just to convert people from their religion to the WTBTS.
Most of the door-to-door work is just handing out Watchtower and Awake magazines. Very little discussion is centered on
the real Good News. Besides, it would be difficult to find anyone who doesn't know who Jesus Christ was and His salvation.
The original apostles didn't go door-to-door in the sense that the WTBTS orders JWs. The Apostles preached in open areas,
congregations and in the streets. Never did they mention anything about going house to house. In this day and age, people
need to respect others privacy. Now, that's not to say you shouldn't preach the Good News, but do so to those you meet in
person. Talk with those on the street. If they invite you to their home, take the Good News to their house. I'm not saying
you should hide or conceal your zeal for your love of God and Jesus.
