touche' Neverending..it took me 20 years to actually start my search for GOD..and along the way I started reading all that was available to me about my past..and it didnt take long to realize GOD had wanted me out of it...and many more have followed suite..I am free from man made dogma..I feel now more closer to GOD than before when I was a JW..I really do not have to make others happy or feel guilty for not putting enough hours in door to door, or feel guilt that I turned down being a ministerial servant in the face of my father who destroyed my confidence and ultimately led me out instead of helpiing me (dad is a Elder who has traveled to set up congregations here in Illinois). My dad no longer shuns me like he did for 20 years, he talks to me and we do not discuss religion much, but he tried once and I got him with the false prophecies and all he could say was "well I still love Jehovah no matter what"..and that killed him talking to me about it again..My brother left as well - an elder of the congregation..he completely lost it and has rebelled way worse than me..I hope he comes around..he is in very bad mental shape..being born in the JW and knows nothing else - the transition has been hard..so much that he wont talk to any of us..

Why Guess About Dates At All?
by Pickled ini posted this on another thread and realized that it was really off topic, so i made it a separate topic because i would really like to read your thoughts about this... .
does anyone know if any reasons are given by the wtbts about why they feel it is such an important part of their teachings to keep guessing about dates and the years things are going to happen?
it seems that it adds nothing to whatever they believe about the bible, and it has only served to create such confusion among their members over the years.

for those who believe that Jesus took kingship in 1914ish..
read this:
"Given to Me was ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON THE EARTH." (Matt. 28:18), right after his resurrection some 1900 years ago..not 1914

here is something I had saved
Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put all false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false prediction of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted by the false prophets. False prophets will try to hide their reason for feeling shame by denying who they really are." (Paradise Restored To Mankind By Theocracy, 1972, p. 353, 354)

Thanks Neverending on the Ray Franz info..I already heard from it..at this point of my life I really dont need more convincing about the truth of the JW...it gives me a headache actually.
Recently I left my last church because for the 1st time they started speaking in tongues and all I though about was 1 Corinthians on this subject and I will never go back..It freaked me out..So right now I will stay without religion and be happy
One website I find most interesting..is www.bible-truths.com...

[Though we had false expectations in times past, who can blame us for being over-anxious?] "It is easy for the established churches of Christendom and other people to criticize Jehovah's Witnesses because their publications have, at times, stated that certain things could take place on certain dates. But is not such line of action in harmony with Christ's injunction to `keep on the watch'?" ..."But is it not far preferable to make some mistakes because of overeagerness to see God's purposes accomplished...?" WT 12/1/84, p. 17,18

Obves - in your following statement: Read Matthew 7.13,21-23 : Many will say that day Lord ,Lord .. and I will answer them go away from me . This cannot be about Jehovah's Witnesses at all ! This must be about many people who were deceived - majority ! It can only be so in the main stream christian religions where do we find many false prophets in thousands and many deceieved in hunderds of millions ! ----------------------- explain a little better once again How it Cant be? ..if there are roughly 7 million JW in the world, in addition, main stream christians do not believe exactly the same, while all JW do. Yes, I agree that there will be false prophets within the main stream - thats not a stretch and certainly not an argument, but it doesnt exclude the organization of the JW....lets re-take what the verse say "Many will say"...this is not specific to one but many (in whole), Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity (including the JW who are christians), etc etc..No where is there specifics because its MANY..Remember that Many could also be covered under the 2000 years since the day of Christ..7 million may be a drop in the sea in a 5-6billion tenancy, but to the eyes of Jehovah - even ONE or TWO can be MANY..
