by vitty ini have just found out that an appointed member of a congregation i know has been dfed for drinking, this person has had a problem for years but her daughter dobbed her in................anyway i was wondering what happens if she gets reinstated, will she still be one of the anointed or has she lost her crown.

Dedpoet brings up an interesting scripture for any christian to consider. How can one who has been born again (begotten by spirit) be revived if they fall into a sin they begin to practice over a period of time according to the scripture he quoted?
According to bible believers and what the bible says, one who has been born into christ CANNOT be lost ever again because they recieve "a token"...or a guarantee to a spot in heaven and NOBODY can take it away. So, how is it the bible says one can become lost again once he or she has been begotten by spirit?
The society's stance on one who has become annointed yet turns back to willfull sin is that it is Jehovah's choice as to whether they can become one of the annointed again. But....once their place has been filled by say....a newer one, then how does he make room for the repentant annointed one who fell yet returned in time?

Sorry One-the-way-out, I thought it was going to be a documentary on the film but not the actual film.
I too agree that the actual film doesn't do any damage to the witnesses but rather puts them in an innocent light. Because the society doesn't put this film out, even some witnesses are sceptical about watching this film. The part which shows the young witness listening to and playing guitar with some rather heavy rock and roll artists isn't what I'd say is normality with the average witness so as to portray something the society endorses and is a false picture of what the witnesses represent.

Do you know what time it will air on the west coast? Also, if you have only seen a preview how do you know it won't bring out some good negativity on the witnesses? I'd like my son-in-law to see it since he adores this film and shows it to many of his dub friends. If it would do any good for him to see it I'd like for him to see it.

Sister-in-law attempts suicide
by golf2 inmy sister-in-law tried to take her life this afternoon.
it still remains to be seen if she makes it through or not.
though a witness, she's had many bad experiences in life.

She is very 'guilt' ridden and wanted to end her life
A very typical feeling that comes from an organisation that instills in ones heart that not doing enough in Gods service brings with it a life of unhappiness and eventual death.
So sorry for her situation and the many others that feel as she does. We wish you the best

Is shunning scriptural? At all?
by Open mind init's obvious that the jw view of shunning goes way beyond anything called for in the bible.
1 cor 5:11-13 says,(nwt) "but now i am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.
for what do i have to do with judging those outside?

The example in 1Cor. 5:11 was one in which a blatant disregard for all decentcy was demonstrated by a believer and the rest of the congregation had his same attitude.
Here was a man who slept with his step mother and many in the congregation was applauding him for his actions.......if you can imagine that. Remember, this was a newly established Greek congregation full of a people with ungodly manners who had a long way to go in learning what it meant to be a christian.
If someone did this type of thing in a church today......say a man slept with the pastors wife then went and bragged about it to all. Do you think a man like this would be a person that others would pal around with? Would any even WANT to pal around with a man who acted in such a way? Obviously not. This was the case in Corinth and so Paul was saying not to even speak to a loser such as this or else he'd think his conduct was ok.
In the example Jesus gave in Mathew 18 it was obvious he was talking about someone who didn't give a rats arse about correcting a fault he had done towards a brother. If you brother stole your lawnmower and you caught him and yet he insisted on not giving it back......would you or others hang out with a guy like that? Obviously not.
The point is....if a brother or sister in Christ is so bold that even when it's obvious they did something wrong and they just don't give a shit.....then don't hang out with such a person.
Personally, I think it's a no brainer to shun someone acting like a deliberate asswipe and is common sense without having to be told to shun someone such as this.

However, if that same person says, "Hey, in addition to shacking up, I think this whole (insert favorite wacky doctrine here) thing is a bunch of hooey, so I hereby renounce my membership in the congregation." Then, they're no longer "called a brother" and so don't need to be shunned by the congregation. Is that right? Or am I twisting your words?
A congregation cannot legally disfellowship one who verbally states they no longer wish to be a Jehovah's Witness and so the witnesses cleverly came up with the word "disassociate".
If a person renounces their standing as one of Jehovah's Witnesses they have disassociated "themselves"....and are to be treated exactly the same as one who has been disfellowshipped. In this way the organisation can kick them in the ass except do it legally. As a scriptural reason for treated one such as this they use 1John which says 'they went out from us because they were not of our sort". They feel these ones broke a promise in their dedication to god if they leave the organisation (which is the same as god to them)

it ultimately results in roughly 80 million more humans to be added to the pile of post-armageddon bird food.
i've read this concept several times before on jwd but decided to do a little googling to get the 80 million number.
