Something has puzzeled me for a long time since I came to this board. First I would like to say I'm not judging any in what I'm about to say as we all are at different places in our lives and I respect that.
Here it is: At what point in your life did you no longer believe in God or believe the bible?
How many came to this conclution AFTER coming to this db?
My reason for asking is i'm bothered that if my family (wife, married daughter, sisters, aunts, and all my old freinds)ever leave the borg.....will they too not believe anymore? I never thought about it till coming here and seeing all the ones who throw God or the bible out the window?

No - you're wrong - I'm right!
by ballistic ini would just like to re-address the balance after a number of posts both recently and over the course of time suggesting that there is too much bickering, back stabbing and trolling going on here.. i would just like to say that i have frequented a number of chat rooms and message boards on various subjects and have found this to be one of the most balanced and peaceful i've seen.. i think some peoples expectations are too high, perhaps comparing this to a highly moderated jw site, or to "group" sites run by invitation only.. one of the worst chat rooms i've been in was on aol (if you really want a fight, i'll tell you where it is and you can check it out) where i saw death threats, intimidation, constant abuse and out right anarchy, and they don't like newbies.. i think we should celebrate what we have here; religious types, people who now feel sick at the thought of religion, ex-elders, people who have just been disfellowshipped, americans and brits (and other countries), different age groups and....er... fred hall.. ok, there's the odd squirmish and i've had one or two, but don't you think we have all gained a lot from the over-all experience - otherwise, why are you still here?

Nice comparison ballistic...glad to hear we are more sane than others.
I think this site has the most experience on it as far as who knows the dubs the best. There is a lot of ones here that spent many years in the borg and can offer much needed insight to others.
I like it here but am bothered by something in particular here and I am going to start a thread on what it is right now. See ya -

Hey dis: The two books go hand in hand. You'll love the second book too. He gives a nice perspective on christian balance that seems agreeable with your natural feeling's. It did for me anyway.
Also wanted to say I am so glad you realized true freedom rest in belief in christ and not an organisation. Take care -

do you still want to live forever?
by sleepy inimagine that chance was offered to you .is it something you still desire?.
i wonder how desriable it would be to live forever.what problems it would bring.would we want to stay married to the same person, would we get to know everyone on earth?.
how would it effect our attitude toward life , would we get anything done knowing there was no rush?.

What's with this?????????

Welcome Dis....nice to have new ones. I wished I had found this place and similar ones when I got out. I went to the christian book store... scared to death for being in there, and ordered Crisis of Conscience, read it and way before half way thru realized I had done the right thing.
Question for ya...you said " You got fed up with the changes and the faithfull slave". What changes in particular bothered you? -

Friends we are too unbalanced.
by sleepy inwell sometimes we are.. look we have the knowledge and experience to help a lot of people.must of us have one time been jw's and understand how many think.so lets not put them off by being too negative.. when we were witnesses most of us were quite happy .
we tried to be good people , to put into practise principles that many people think are good.
we did this sometimes even when we didn't want to , because we thought god would hold us accountable and because we cared for people .

You don't want 6 billion to die? Then why is there always smiles on the faces of those who escape armageddon in the literature with those being destroyed in the backround?

Has being under the influence of MIND CONTROL been mentioned yet!
Brainwashed ring any bells???
I have not read all 6 pages here yet...only a couple......but
my sweet wife is still a faithful dub and she is the nicest person i know! That however dosen't mean that her being good un-does all of the bad the borg has done.
So should i hate witnsses? Absolutly not! Why? Should i hate a retarded person? No. Can a retarded person help it? No.
Can a person that's brainwashed help it? Were you all brainwashed at one time? Yes. Were we assholes because we were brainwashed? (some were) No. We were trying to do the thing we thought was right.
How can we hate someone who does what they think is right?
Being human, my blood boils too at the dubs.
It's hard to look at this and be fair and be human.Gumby

What will it take?
by ballistic into be taught not to criticise or analyse what you are being told, to be taught not to think for one self and to be taught that information can only come from one source, to be taught not to listen to the reasoned argument of people with other beliefs should surely set alarm bells ringing.. especially when this source has proved to be unreliable through decades of changing doctrine.. what will it take for people to realise?
even when they abandon 1914, will people take note?
will just a few people be "stumbled" and then the old teaching quickly be forgotten?.

No wonder your going to bed Yardirt...your losing in this discusion big time and you know it!
Yardirt say's: "Or would you favor having any and all College teachers being fired from their jobs, simply on the basis of their having made some error?
Big Big difference in this lame comparison of yours.
Teachers do not claim to be God's channel on earth.
The GB is guilty of bloodshed on a mass scale. I don't know of any teachers who cost people their lives by blundering some comment relating to geography or the like.
By the way...if you have a nasty dream while your sleeping...Jehovah will forgive you. -

Yardirt:you call it a "false prophecyā€¯. But I call it an adjustment in understanding.
"I" don't call it a false prophecy nor does any other Apostate....the bible calls it a false prophecy.
