i was just wondering if an end to disfellowshipping might be enough to solve some other major problems, as well as deflecting criticism away from the society.. people could act on their own conscience over blood, for example.
sure, the wtbts could still say it was wrong to have a blood transfusion if they felt so inclined, but at least people would be able to make a decision based on a belief rather than acting out of fear of shunning.
it would certainly take the heat off the wtbts.. it would also take away the rage that exs feel when their families are instructed to shun them, so that the ex becomes a major and formidable opponent against the witness religion.

Disfellowshiping is their strong arm....well.....one of them.
To drop this policy would mean losing CONTROL.
Smoking, drugs, sex, would be more common .....hence.....a bad name on the Borg.
Apostasy would surface more.
If their is NO THREAT to publishers......their is no control.
of course were all so familiar with the way the society covers up it tracks and it has taken a lot of work to expose its coruption.. but are there more sinister discoveries awaiting?.
why is the society so keen to cover up peadophilia in the organisation?.

When I came to the understanding that the GB boldly would not change their stance on many organisational beliefs.......when they KNEW they were WRONG........it made me wonder just HOW deep their corruption could go.

My GRANDMOTHER believed it would come in HER lifetime
My mother believed it would come in HER lifetime
I believed it would come in MINE
My daughter believes in HER lifetime
My grandchildren will believe it will be in THEIR lifetime.
ALL of us believed/believe we would NOT have children, after we HAD children we believed they would NEVER go to school... as the end would come.

If Jesus's message did not include an organized religion, how do you explain the Christians of the first century?
At what point does it become organised?
Is it when a little group meets? A bigger group?
Is it when a particular church has a title? eg; Baptist, Christian Fellowship (non-denominational).....etc.
When religion becomes organised to me, is when it begins to CONTROL your thinking either suggestively or verbally.
When it makes you feel COMPELLED to follow all it's advise on day to day living.
Also...it can be in the form of laying guilt upon it's adherants for not conforming to the churches standards.
The first century scenario was a little different than today.
Church LEADERS such as James, Peter,etc who had direct contact with Jesus and his words, would handle church problems in the recorded cases.
However.....as the numbers grew...........did these men monopolize all church authority everywhere?
To compare how a church should operate with the first century is not being fair to both situations.
ok, the obvious choice is the writing department.
but, my hands down favorite is the lame-ass "art department.
" perhaps if they had allowed their members to explore the world of the arts, they wouldn't have been stuck with people who basically draw nothing but stick figures.. my daughter is 12 and her drawings have more depth than most of what appears in the magazines and publications.. any other nominees, or is the art department gonna run away with it?.

I believe his message. It suits me, liberates me and gives me the sense that there is “something out there”.
I'm a little different.
I also want to continue believing when it is all I've known, and come to trust. However........

i have heard that argument from the jw's since i was a child - i still hear it from my family.. now that i am out it seems like such a silly argument.
in fact, you could liken it to someone in an abusive marriage for years.

The usual scriptures were read from Ecclesiastics about the condition of the dead, animals and mankind having the same eventuality, building a good name with God, etc.
I was at a Dub funeral a few months back and it was more like being at "The Talk" on Sunday morning.
Little was said about the man but rather the condition of the dead and mankinds hope...I was sooooooooooo pissed that day!
They get a captive audience then use that to push their doctrine.
Even the brother who gave the funeral talk gets to count his time......how freak'in sick!
