  Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story

  i'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).

  it's a football (soccer) stadium.

  there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

  WT SHUNNING POLICY: What has it done, or could it do to you?

  hi y'all, this is mrs. flipper.

  please share your experiences with this, or possible consequences of being outed.. this recent controversy and resulting arguments all stem from people being outed - possibly losing friends and family because most jw's will blindly follow the watchtower's rules to shun them.. among people i know and experiences read here, the grief and loss caused by this is terrible, and maybe now is a good time to put up some experiences here, and put the focus on the worst villians of all - wt policymakers..

  I've been shunned for years and, to the degree that anyone can be, I'm used to it. However, my son is just inactive. When he got married last June, my mother (his only grandmother) and his stepmother wouldn't come to the wedding because, even though he's just inactive, he's not living a JW lifestyle. My 30 year-old son called me up crying because his grandma wasn't going to be at his wedding.

  I've taken the JW abuse for years but subjecting my son to it is another thing all together. My dad (non-JW) would always talk about my mother to me and update me on her condition (she has a brain tumor) but, after the wedding, I told him that I never even want to hear her name again. I'm through with her, don't do me any favors by keeping me up to date about her. Something has crossed over in my heart and I truly don't feel any love for the lady for the first time in my life.

  Growing up, we lived 50 miles away from the DC when it was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the International Assembly sometime mid-1970s. Everyone was going to release early on Saturday and go out witnessing in the territory around the old Riverfront Stadium. Needless to say, over 20,000 people couldn't witness in downtown Cincinnati so they handed out territories way far out of town. We were so excited about this "special" witnessing, until they landed us right back in our own town!

  BTW, about that International Assembly, they had us believing we'd be having pioneers from all over the world there in native costume. I think there were only two special international pioneers there and they wore the standard issue JDub uniform. Such a let down.

  Pisses me off that they say that christians are against Christ. They've replaced Christ with the GB and they have the nerve to say anything about anyone else's relationship with Christ? Calling us antichrists because we're christians?

  that's what my jw mother said.

  folks, there are plenty of reasons not to watch how i met your mother, but a gay actor playing a straight part is not one of them.

  i should give her a list of known gay actors and ruin a bunch of movies and t.v.

  I loved Frasier, and Niles and Bulldog are both gay. I doubt there's a tv show out there that doesn't have gay cast members.

  BTW, love the big bang theory. It's my favorite show.

  Lawsuit maybe?

  i would love to file an emotional distress lawsuit of some sort against the wt.

  since my husbands return envolvement 2 years ago my documented mental health problems have gotten steadly worse.

  this past weekend i started drinking after 17 years sober, a sucicide attempt that put me in a private psych hosiptal.

  i was listening to a recording on youtube taken from the 2013 convention on "human apostates".

  the term "mentally diseased" is way over the line.

  can you imagine if they called blacks or catholics or god forbid, muslims "mentally diseased" what kind of trouble there would be?
