  Just had a thought when reading Data Dogs topic..

  ..according to the wt, adam and eve were created to live forever on earth right from the start.

  two things i just thought of.. 1) one of the reasons that they were banished from the garden was so that they couldn't eat from 'the tree of life' , which would allow them to live forever.. so doesn't that mean that they were created with bodies that were going to deteriorate and die?

  or would the magic fruit make them invulnerable even to gods power to destroy them?

  May I insert here that scholars maintain that the Adam and Eve story is Jewish mythology? In fact, the whole first 11 chapters of Genesis are not to be taken literally. The problem here isn't the WTS interpretation. The problem is that the WTS is too stupid to recognize the genre in which these chapters were written.

  If you want to be literal, why didn't Adam and Eve have children before eating of the fruit? Those children would have been perfect and could have stayed in the garden, fulfilling all of the jobs their parents mucked up.

  mcmillan & wife with rock hudson is what i just saw on tv.

  watching rock hudson kiss his wife while smoking a cigarette is pretty funny.

  and he solved a murder case as he lit up another cigarette at some wealthy person's party.....good stuff!.

  I loved The Hudson Brothers Show, a Saturday morning flick, "Hey, Margoles."

  I also love Mister Ed to this day.

  Here in the Cincinnati area, we had Hattie the Witch, the Cool Ghoul, and Dr. Creep. They all had good local silly shows. Oh, and Uncle Al and Captain Wendy were the king and queen of preschool TV!

  according to one of our friends who visits our local laundromats the literature is out of control.

  guess its time to do some real educating aka jw un-witnessing.

  throwing the mags away just keeps the dubs bring back more (and counting placements) so with my friend and husbands help we are going to "stick it to the watchtower" literally:).

  Odd KH Wedding

  my youngest sister was married last sunday and i was actually invited.

  not to the reception of course but all of us ex-jw relatives had our own party so it was still a great family reunion!

  i'm one of 6 siblings (2 step siblings, 1 half, and 2 whole :-) anyway, this was not my first time going to a wedding of a sibling and being an ex-witness.

  My husband and I were poor as churchmice when we got married. We got married on Sunday morning during the mass at the local Lutheran church. All of our friends were church members, except for a few, so it saved us money on invitations. We had cake and coffee for the reception, i.e., coffee hour. I made the cake. Great wedding, very meaningful. We've been married for 11 years.

  My dad is not a JW but has been married to my JW mother for over 50 years, so he's kind of a JW by osmosis. We never celebrated birthdays. He called me once on my 40th birthday to talk about something else. I said, "Oh, I thought you called me to wish me a happy birthday." Dad said, "Is it your birthday? How old are you?" I told him and then asked him, "Don't you remember when I was born?" He hem-hawed around and then said, "Let's see," and started telling me the story of my birth. He went through the entire ordeal. At the end I told him that the story was right but the daughter was wrong--he'd just told the story of my sister's birth. He couldn't remember the story of when I was born. If we'd had birthdays like normal people he'd have heard the story recited enough to know that my mother didn't even make it to the delivery room with me and that I came out screaming. The doctor said, "You're naming this girl Serena, as loud as she is?"

  SAD news about OOMPA......

  our friend, oompa, has passed away.

  just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

  it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

  I've been on a self-imposed ban of JWD because it adds to my depression when I get too bogged down in JW crap. I just returned this week. I just saw this post and found out today that OOMPA is gone. He used to call me at night and we'd talk. He was truly bigger than life. I am so, so sorry he is gone. The problem with being out of the WTS is that you're not prepared to cope with real life. You lose your crutch and the WTS has taught you that your only coping mechanism is studying and meeting attendance. It's so hard to "parent" yourself after you leave the WTS. It takes a long time, I find, to become mentally healthy after leaving. I'm just devastated that OOMPA never found healthy ways to cope. RIP, my friend, I love you.

  aug wt q and a has now stated that any df'd person can sit with anyone, anywhere at a congregation meeting.. before, they had to sit at the back of the hall.

  HarryMac, I think my mother would stay in just out of pride and not wanting to acknowledge she made a mistake 50+ years ago. She is very stubborn. She is so shallow, it's all about appearances with her. And my siblings?....don't really care. They're all adults and decided to stay in to please Momma. Idiots.

  Minimus, you are right. But I've become hopeless regarding my loved ones. I know it's possible but I think it's highly improbable. My mom is 77, how much time does she have left to own up to her errors?
