Big News or rumor!
by Burger Time ina friend just informed me that the c/o in his hall will be instructing the elders that anyone with a child in college will be stripped of privileges in the hall.
i am not sure if this is true this is just what i was told.
it could be that it is only a campaign directed at him as he has some ties to ex-jw's and some how got found out.

MTS School???

i am assuming it is ministerial training school, but i don't really know the significance of it.
i keep hearing reference to it, but i guess i don't understand who attended, and what sort of prestige it provided.

I remember that MTS grad telling me how Gilead is all about creating people who work in administrative positions and isn't about missionary work anymore. He seemed really excited about hopefully getting that job one day. I wondered what made him any different from people in 'the world' who worked their whole life for careers that brought the presage. This MTS 'spiritual champion' that everybody looked up to was totally focused on getting a job, it had little to do with 'spiritual things'.
helping people get a job under the guise of "spiritual learning"

my parents live in another state, to visit them would require at least a 22 hour drive, no trains, .
planes are fine but since the airport is in the middle of nowhere tickets are getting quite costly ($$$$$$.

The father mentions how a brother might have a job for him and that they should all trust in Jehovah and enjoy the whole three day assembly!
been there done that, (shudder)
And honestly, it was nice that some of the brothers let me work for them but there are MANY side points that were more discouraging than
missing a part of the assembly, they should be a little more realistic when presenting these types of scenarios.
1) work is mostly very sporadic, you only work when he has enough for him and you.
2) benefits are gone ( unless you use COBRA)and with children, that is a major area of stress and discouragement.
3) the personal / emotional side of "loosing" your job, wondering just what the hell I was thinking, and what are my kids going to do if I get sick, or hurt and cannot work at all.
4) trying twice as hard to balance the checkbook each week-month,
5) praying that at tax time,that I will be able to pay uncle Sam.
Is all this headache worth the price of missing a part of the assembly ?

I recently met this young, pompous a** who wants to go to this training school.
He is dating this wonderful, young girl and everyone in her family hates this guy,
they ALL state that he seems to have a rather large corn cob shoved up his rear-end.
Anyway, he wants to marry her, and his local BOE approved his going to this school,
