Small joys
by heybaby inyou know how there are somethings that give you so much pleasure or joy?
it doesn't have to be anything amazing or huge, but for some reason it makes you so happy for those few moments.
some of mine are drinking coffee in the morning with my best friend at work, and the smell of an open fire (it reminds me of being a young child at my grandparents' house).

I have a birdfeeder mainly used for goldfinches, and there are many doves coming around trying to eat something.
The openings are small slits, so I cut several of them off, and installed little trays so the doves can get something.
Now i get to see the doves and goldfinches eat together, really a neat site -

During the pasr 5 months I have been attending seminars for work, and going to different churches to see
what is out there. And there is one thing that stands out.
The microphones used at the kingdom halls.
Every place I have gone to and listened to speeches, or sermons, they all use a microphone and cord attached to the podium
( about 1 foot in length)
When the speaker gets up, he adjusts it in about 1 second, and goes on with his-her speech, they can adjust it slightly during the
talk if needed.
At the KH,CA, and DA it seems that they always use the long shiny metal stands, and a person has to adjust the microphone each time
someone get up on stage. This may sound like a nitpicking thing, but I've always wondered about this.
why does the society always use this type of microphone?
Any communication installers care to make a comment ? -

too bad someone didn't go up to this girl and ask her why she was worried more about an organization
than her friend.
She might now be posting on this site ! -

james_woods states : "Then it all blew over, and we started the next 50 years of our lives without a peep from their war-god."
I would find it just fascinating to hear your story about that time, I was not a witness, and I was too young to really care about
what was happening.
No witness I know has ever mentioned to me aspects of time during the Kennedy assassination, I find all the opinions amazing.
Just what was it like being a witness during that time, besides the stuff you have already mentioned ? -

Sing Praises to Jehober
by gloobster inlast week when i was tipsy i ordered a copy of sing praises to jehovah, and it came in the mail today.
i hadn't heard some of the songs since i was a child, and i've rediscovered some of the lyrics.
they are quite amusing (albeit disturbing).. this is a classic everyone knows, song number 2. .

I guess that my reply would be based on his condition.
With all the handicap laws if effect, they want to be regarded as "normal" people.
In fact I have had several get offended with me when I would try to help them such as holding a door, or carrying some packages.
Could he handle the "truth" regarding how you feel? -

Have u found a new faith since leaving?
by chuckyy ini was just wondering how many of you have found a "new faith" since leaving the jw"s. for instance, are u a member of another church, another religion, or are u now a committed atheist.
if u have found a new faith, what convinces you that its the right one?.
chukyy.

Growing up i was a solid catholic.
became a JW, but the religious feelings from my youth were always there.
Now I am looking back and researching what I was raised with. It may not be 100% truth but there
is some kind of a secure, warm feeling that comes over me when I am at church.
Last month one of my parents (who live across the country) was in ICU and perhaps dying. There was no way
I could have made it there until several days later.
That Saturday evening the church has an all night vigil for people to come in and pray, or just meditate.
As i sat there at 2:00 in the morning I analyzed my current life (JW's,parents health, family, etc) and as I sat there
all stressed and emotional, I looked around at the statues, and pictures and this feeling of total calm came over
me and I felt that things would be OK.
So far they are, and I feel that I got more encouragement that night sitting in an empty church honestly thinking about things
than I did attending the Sunday afternoon meeting at the KH, listening to a canned speech and a WT article.
