Is it just me or is there some doubt as to 'sex addiction'? It seems to be an affliction than only affects rich, and famous men. All other men out there who have countless affairs - you are womanising scumbags, and woe betide any women - you are absolute SLAGS! So, if you're rich and famous, and want to play the field, and play the field, and play the field.......you have a sex addiction. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Very interesting listening. I am sure they knew you had something on them, but they had no alternative but to go through the process of their kangaroo court. Actually, you could just have easily have been talking to robots - they were totaly pre-programmed. Don't know how you could have remained so calm. Also, loved listening to my native tongue!

Volunteering
by Quillsky innow that you, as a former jw, have a few evenings and some weekend time freed up, and "charity" is no longer a dirty word, ........ do you do any kind of volunteer work?.
i'm seriously thinking about it..

Part of my job is recruiting, training and supporting volunteers for the charity I work for. I can testify that the benefit the volunteers get is enormous. Almost all of them report an increase in self-esteem, self-worth, an improvement in their mental health, an increase in their social network and skills that can be used in the workplace. I treasure them all and appreciate everything that they do for us. I have also volunteered in the past and I would say that it is very worthwhile and mutually beneficial. Just be sure that the organisation or group has all the necessary policies and guidelines in place to protect you.

LIFE AFTER JW: Have you gotten psychotherapy yet? Why do we need it?
by cyberjesus inwe all regardless of our spiritual beliefs have in common a past damaged by brain washing and mind control.
there is no doubt that our mental health has been affected to different degrees.
but we usually go and continue our life trying to patch the injuries on our own.. one of the reasons we find it so difficult to deal with the world is precisely that.

I think it may depend on whether you were born in or not. Thankfully, I was able to 'recall' who I was and having friends in the 'world' helped too.

Did You Know A Lot Of "Very Intelligent" JWs?
by minimus inin my lifetime of knowing jehovah's witnesses, i recognized very few as being extremely intelligent.
most seemed to just go along with the program.. i noticed we have a number of "very intelligent" exjws here..

Don't forget there is such a thing as emotional intelligence and that gets my vote more that IQ, so it is not all about academia. However, when someone gives thier thinking ability over to a man-made organisation, surely they cannot be called intelligent? My sis-in-law, cannot blow her nose without asking if the GB agree with it, at the same time she has little knowledge of ANYTHING! My ex, on the other hand, is very intelligent, but subsconsciously cannot separate himself from the org, so they remain paramount. In his case, intelligence has nothing to do with it - I can bear witness to that, it's something more subtle, but perhaps because he is born in. IMHO most JW are not intellectually intelligent, they are (or at least start of) good people, trying to solve problems of everyday life.

Just read Crisis of Conscience - Malawi/Mexico double standard
by jambon1 inall i can say is - wow.
what a bunch of absolutely hypocritical, double tongued shithouses the governing body really are.. reading the letters to & from the different branches/governing body on 'alternative service' made me so angry.. an organisation that is utterly rotten from the top down.
these men have blood on their hands.. filth!.

My husband (ex) read Crisis in a day! I was so excited, because I thought this would unlock some of his beliefs. Alas, all he said was that it was a very sad story "if true"!! Are there many others who have read it and remain true to the false? After that, I felt there was nothing else I could produce as evidence of the falsehood of it all, and it began our demise.
