Do you happen to know whether the guilty elders were ever punished?

What's more important??
by The Last Nephilim ini'm placing this into the "scandals and coverups" section for good reason, i think.
a few days ago i had an elder and one of "the anointed" come by to encourage my wife and i to "get back to the meetings before it's too late".
i proceeded to tell him a few of the reasons why i've lost confidence in the elders and the organization, and he retorted with a real- life example of how i need to see that although the "brothers" can make mistakes, it's best to accept it as "jehovah's will" and play along.

ok so who exactly is going to the memorial this year....and why?
by Cordelia ini am, my dad is doing it, i'm going to their hall theyve just moved there (to 'help' out).
i figured its the one meeting i can't miss as i upset them by not going to any others at all, also ive made a point of not going to my hall and i won't let anyone know i'm at my dads.
my dad is actually worried i might 'be apostate' about it, as i once said surely passing on the bread and wine is like saying 'no thanks jesus!

Good luck! I don't know why everyone is ragging on you. Taking the org down from the inside out seems like the best way to do it.

March 08 KM - Jesus is not Saviour?
by DoomVoyager inin the special box in the march 2008 km, the last sentence says something about "jehovah, our saviour.".
i guess this is a confirmation of that isolated 1979 article which shows that the "great crowd" do not have any particular relationship with jesus.
does anyone have a scan of this km?..

Thanks for the replies, I was surprised to see that they didn't just pull this one out of their arse, but I guess I have to hand it to 'em.

I was in the 93rd percentile
of those that sent in their scores. I knew I could be accepted.
But no, I never applied.Absolutely disgusting.
(not blaming you; blaming the witlesses.)

Wine Disasters During the Memorial
by WTWizard ini wonder how often wine spills happen at the memorial.
the wine bottle dropped or spilled onto the floor?someone slopping wine onto someone's shirt, the chair, or the floor?someone spilling the glass of wine onto someone's shirt or the floor?someone dumping the table, spilling wine on the floor?the table getting hit hard enough to slop wine onto the tablecloth?a glass of wine getting dropped, preferably busted?someone's littera-trash getting ruined because of a wine spill?a child hitting someone with the glass of wine, resulting in a spill?having someone intentionally dump the wine on someone, perhaps a teenager doing it to the parent that dragged them in?the crackers are less messy--they can be cleaned up with a vacuum cleaner instead of getting in the carpet or someone's suit to leave a stain.
they can, however be knocked off the plate by passing them, have the whole plate dumped, or perhaps having the whole plate dropped (and hopefully busted).

Once when I was like 13 and still believed, I was doing some parking lots. A nice guy slipped in a very small reverse-witness to me then, he just said something like "I admire what you're doing here, but keep seeking and keep asking". Now that I think back on it I'm sure he was an ex-JW. I don't know if what he said has anything to do with where I am now, but the fact that I still remember it shows that it is important.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? (No Exit)
by sacolton inthere is simply no proper or honorable way to leave the cult.
period.
to leave is to fail, to die, to be defeated by evil.

Yes, Catholics and Baptists have rules, and have some consequences for breaking them. All social groups do.
However, they do not control what you read, what you wear, what movies you watch, what music you listen to, what kind of facial hair you wear, what you eat, who can be your friends, what kind of education you can get, what kind of job you work, what kind of medical treatment you can take, HOW YOU THINK, and on and on and on and on...
Catholics and Baptists don't bar you from speaking with your own children if they question your beliefs.
I can't believe anyone who spent any significant period of time in The Lie would still defend it as a legitimate religion.
