How Many JW Terms Aren't in the Bible?
by jamiebowers inthe following youtube video made by a young person who is unbaptized and hopes to become a publisher says that the word "rapture" isn't in the bible.
a comment on the video says that the words "disfellowship", and "god's organization" aren't in the bible either and that the name jehovah isn't written in the new testament aka greek scriptures.
can we further enlighten this young person as to how many words jws typically use that aren't in the bible?

The new book study arrangement...what it could mean
by undercover ini've heard mentioned in a couple of places the admonition from the society about how the new void left by the discontinuing of the book study night should be filled with spiritual study or family worship instead of tv or just viewing it as a "night off".. this is the new spin on the society dropping that meeting night; "just because we gave you a night off from meetings doesn't mean you get to relax.
you should use this time for family study.
if you don't, then you invite satan into your home through your tv set or dvd player or cd player or internet connection.

I am scared for my life. Problems with punks.
by SnakesInTheTower inso i have been having problems with the renters that moved in next door.
the last 3 months have been a living hell.
i have an ongoing complaint with the slumlord that owns the property and the city is taking him to court for derelict vehicles next week (which i anonymously complained about, but i am sure i am being blamed for).

This is 5 pages long now, and I'm sure someone already said it, but anyways: he now knows that you're a "white boy" who can't defend himself and he can push you around whenever he feels like it. You either need to start carrying a sidearm or get the hell out of there immediately. It WILL start getting worse.
Oh, and other people have posted relevant information about how escalating things with a weapon will, well, escalate things... he'll definitely start slashing your tires and such if you pull a gun on him, so if you get a gun, get the guard dog too.
Best advice by far is just to move.

(hopefully someone hasn't brought this up already).. it was concerning the new bookstudy arrangements.

Yesterday (Sunday) at the end of the Public Talk, the speaker took a moment to share with us something he said that he gleaned during the 2008 Annual Meeting. (Hopefully someone hasn't brought this up already).
It was concerning the new bookstudy arrangements. I will do my best to quote from memory what he said:
"Many brothers are looking forward to next year, as they will have another "night off." Well, we shouldn't be looking at it as a "night off." [some stuff I forget]... If we do our family study that night, for an hour, an hour and a half, and then we go and turn on the T.V. for the rest of the night - then Satan has won. Yes, this is intended to be a night filled with Spiritual Study. It is our Study night, given to us by the FDS."
So you can forget all this shit about "lightening the load on the brothers." The Faithless and Indiscreet Slave Driver has cracked the whip, and the "brothers" had better look busy.
By the way, it seemed to go over like a lead balloon. Usually any news about the new BS arrangement is discussed to death after the meeting... I never heard a peep about this little nugget after the Washtowel study.

What the hell is all this nonsense about bread? If bread is such a wonderful creation of Joe Hobo the Celestial Baker, then why didn't Adam and Eve eat it? They ate fruits! In fact, Genesis chapter 3 records the fall from the Garden. And in paragraph 19, one of the CURSES that Joe Hobo the Candlestick Maker places upon Adam is that he will "eat bread in the sweat of his brow!" Yes, according to the Bible, bread is actually a curse from Joe Hobo! So much for this study article!
And furthermore, the WTBTS tries to paint the Isrealites as being so cruel for "shunning" the leper. THEY WERE FOLLOWING WHAT THE FUCKING OLD TESTAMENT SAYS! The scriptural references to the OT laws (which, among other things, stated that lepers must tear their clothing, not comb their hair, call out "unclean", and live apart from the rest of men) ARE RIGHT THERE IN THE PARAGRAPH! How god damn deaf, blind, dumb, and STUPID are these morons to sit there tearing the Isrealites up for just following what the Bible commands, and then turn around and do the exact same thing to DFd persons which has far less specific Bible rules applying! Every time I read this fucking trash it gets me spitting mad. Sorry for all the cursing.

Interpret this dream?
by AK - Jeff innot that i subscribe to that sort of thing - but this one was very wierd.. i was in a glass house - or at least there was mostly glass all around.
there was a vehicle pulled up close to one of the doors, and a woman was yelling that she needed to come inside because the buffalo were chasing her.
i looked down the hill and saw two thin buffalo, and when they saw me they charged up to the entrance of the house, preventing me from opening the door to the woman.

WT backtracking fast on Book Study -High Gas Prices
by stillajwexelder inso tonight the congregation discussed the front page of the october km -the new meeting schedule.
straight away it was emphasized it was not because of high gas prices that the meetings were being reduced.
it was pointed out that in parts of the world the brothers do not have cars so it was not high gas prices.

Wasn't there a letter scanned on this site of that letter? I thought it said something about due to "gas prices." The WT organization does make flat out statements and then deny it blaming it on the rank & file quite frequently - (remember '75).
Yes. I scanned the letter and posted it here sometime back in May. Unfortunately I hosted it on tinypic and no longer have the link. I'm sure I still have the files on my laptop, but unfortunately that computer is on the fritz now, so unless you can go back and find the scan in JWD archives, you're probably out of luck.
And yeah, the letter did explicitly mention "rising cost of fuel" as a factor in the decision.
EDIT: Ta-da! That didn't take me long to find.
