Calling on an old RV
by Gladring inmy husband and i were just talking at dinner about people we have called on or studied with.
some people i really liked, but it was clear that bringing them in the truth was like pushing a rope uphill.
we had a little chuckle that they were smarter than we were all along.

That's a good story. There's an old RV of mine that I want to visit and tell him I'm out. I know he'll be falling all over himself with gratification.

Defence of watchtower society Links
by reniaa ini thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.

more proof against its admittance into the bible or else they would have used it.
Well, except that "crux" was a Latin word, and none of the original texts were written in Latin, so of course they would not include this Latin word.
It's really not that hard to do some research and learn things, Renaiaa.

Reniaa, I would be interested to see your response to my comments about Jehovah's name, the cross, and the pagan symbolism of a sacred pole.
Or are you merely playing your usual game of replying to posts you feel you can answer and ignorign the rest?

I'm lucky to have not one family member in this cult other than my parents and sister.

The JW will call the cross a pagan symbol...and yes it was!
Yeah, and guess what's an even older pagan symbol... in fact one of the very oldest pagan symbols... the sacred Phallic Pole! Guess what an upright stake driven in to the ground is? A sacred phallic pole! Durr!

did the bible use the word cross? NO the word didn't even exist!
Wow you are incredibly ignorant. The word for a cross was "crux", and it was a very common method of torture in those days. The Romans found that by adding a large crossbeam for the hands and a smaller crossbeam underneath the feet, which could be used to support the victims weight, they could prolong the agony of crucifixion for days. It may be that the word "crux" is not found in Bible canon, but to say "the word didn't exist" shows your complete and utter lack of any scholarly knowledge.

Jehovah- transliteration, probbaly a mistransliteration
Tetragrammaton - YHWH.
The Roman latin alphabet uses J as a variant of I or Y, and has no W or U (using V instead for both).
Therefore when early Christian scribes wrote down YHWH in their alphabet, they ended up with JHVH.
Since the divine name was unpronounceable, they would insert the letters for "elohim" (God) above or below the JHVH to remind readers that the tetragrammaton was not to be spoken.
Take the vowels from elohim and put them in JHVH. Jehovih / Jehovah.
Who knew a series of ancient scribal errors would be the litmus test for whether or not a person is going to survive Armageddon 2000 years later?
