I've said it before but it's worth repeating: this book is a must-read!
Kyria's book was good, but there were complaints on this board that she fit the negative stereotype of what JWs say will happen to you if you leave the WT.
The fact that Tony's book points the way to "Crisis" is very important for young JW readers, too.
But I don't mean to slag on Kyria because the fact that both of these books are out there at all is huge for youngsters growing up in this cult.
I've been debating whether to donate my copies to the high school library to help out the JWs who go there or keep them for my kids.
Oh, and yes, I don't really care for the title, either.

Zen Living Part Fifteen (summarized): Zen and the Family
by JimmyPage ina zen approach to family means remembering you can't control what your family members do or say- no matter how much you want to try!.
a zen approach to parenting means being present for your children rather than letting worries and anxieties consume your energy.. the daily practice of zazen will help you maintain a clear head so you can best keep your family running smoothly.. kids who practice a zen attitude can learn to be present with their families and even communicate more effectively with their parents.. adult children of aging parents can learn to recognize and experience mixed emotions of love, compassion, resentment, and fear as their own parents age and require more care..

Yeah, I suppose so. Which makes me love Zen all the more, because it truly does help you make your peace with all the crazy changes life continues to throw at you.

The Powerful Trend No One Comments On
by metatron ini happen to work with a number of 20 - 30 year olds and i am stunned by the overwhelming social/tech trend that has emerged among them:.
the obsessive - minute to minute use of electronic devices (i. e. 'smartphones, i phones, and the like').
these people are so intensely addicted that they can't stay away for more than a few minutes and keep using them during critical functions at work.

I see addicts like this at my place of work and it annoys the crap out of me.

Top 10 reasons why JWs don't have the truth - please contribute
by oldlightnewshite ini thought it would be an interesting exercise to ask everybody on here what their 'top 10 reasons why jws don't have the truth' actually were.
maybe we can see some correlating views/patterns/ideas that may help us de-programme the newbies that come on this site.
if eventually most people have an outstanding gripe/concern it'll help everybody understand the ex-jw mindset a little better.

Lady Lee (Lee Marsh) could use help
by Dogpatch inshe can't read this now because her computer has been broken for several days.
lee is not a complainer now would dare ask for help, but though she can even build computers, she has ancient equipment and if you know her, little funds.. bottom line: she needs a $500+ cpu box to get updated to the 21st century.
if you are interested in helping her (don't email her because she won't get it, and don't call her and embarrass her yet) but this girl needs a "working car" to get back on the road, if you know what i mean.. email me at [email protected].

"The FDS has lovingly given us time"
by Crisis of Conscience inboy am i tired of hearing this one.
yes folks, i heard it at the meeting this week...again.
the sm included a local needs part and this was the subject - family worship night.. apparently, regarding fwn, that time was never, nor now is, ours.

Really we are lucky just to breathe the same air as the FDS. And when they fart it smells like roses!

If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.

The White Stripes said it best:
In some respects
I suspect you've got a respectable side
When pushed and pulled and pressured
You seldom run and hide
But it's for someone elses benefit
Not for what you wanna do
Until I realize that you've realized
I'm gonna say these words to you
You don't know what love is
You do as you're told
Just as a child at ten might act
But you're far too old
You're not hopeless or helpless
And I hate to sound cold
But you don't know what love is...
You just do as you're told
I can see your man
Cant help but win
Any problems that may arise
But in his mind there can be no sin
If you never criticize
You just keep on repeating
All those empty "I love you's"
Until you say you deserve better
I'm gonna lay right into you
You don't know what love is
You just do as you're told
Just as a child of ten might act
But you're far too old
Your not hopeless or helpless
And I hate to sound cold
But you don't know what love is
No you don't know what love is
No you don't know what love is
You just do as you're told
You do as you're told
Yeah
