The WT says they aren't like other churches. Truth is they are. They have a complex set of corporations that would make executives at Enron proud. I know you can donate to the WTS via credit card contribution over the internet, so reniaa, perhaps that will be next. I would say that most organized religions (WTS included)are nothing more than tax evading money machines. They aren't even close to what the Bible had in mind.

I can see your point doubting bro but isn't the principle of "caesars things back to caesar" here when dealing with money? they have to deal with money to finance the organisation even jesus had this problem.

John 13:28-30

when dealing with caesar's things aka money you have to use it as the current money climate dictates, It's a complicated thing especially if you are a faith that tithes as well,

If they could show me some mysterious head of WTS living on a mansion on a aegean island surrounded by young women and jet planes and all that riches could buy like a lot of these religious leaders do! you'd be cooking with fat but from what I see it all just gets plowed back in and no one gets large wages or massively posh houses to themselves not even the gb, lol one story I heard on here was how a man was visiting headquarters and the gb member got a bigger room although he did share it with someone, I'm thinking OOooo a bigger room wowser he's really enjoying the riches of the org ^^

Automatic checking account withdrawals are used by some churches, and more recently, ATM-like kiosks are now available in many church corridors and lobbies, where parishioners can swipe a card and receive a printed receipt, which they can either save for the IRS or plunk into the collection basket with a flourish, so pew mates will know they're not spiritual freeloaders.
The card-swipe kiosks were a brainchild of Dr. Marty Baker, pastor of Stevens Creek Community Church in Augusta, Georgia. They were so successful in his own church that he now markets the devices privately and has placed them in 35 congregations across the U.S. "People don't carry cash," he says, noting that total income from contributions has increased 18% since the first kiosk was installed in 2005. Coins and paper money now account for less than 5% of that total.

ooops but I shouldn't mention other chirches and what they do to get money because we are only discussing WTs and as we all know other churches give us complete access to all there banking, stock buying, building owning practises ^^

JW's who only stay for social reasons are serving out of wrong motives

we know that many jw's are very disillusioned and would probably love to step sideways from their religion.

but they stay because all their friends and family are jw's.

this is especially the case with younger ones and single ones in the organisation, who often have very sophisticated social lives and networks of friends in the organisation.

When I go back it will be for purely doctrinal reasons, They offer me a relationship with Jehovah and not a 3 headed pagan god for that I was finally persuaded.

I don't pray before meals anymore since I'm my own "God." Praise ME!

i used to "give thanks to jehovah" for each meal three times a day, before i realized that the only reason i had a meal...or clothes or a house was because i got off my butt and earned a living.

yes you can pray 24/7 but if you don't get off your knees and look for a job a turkey dinner will not be found on the door step....so i should give thanks to myself instead of some imagined "gene in a bottle" that used magic to get me my dinner.. praise witness 007 for he is merciful and kind..

but if we stay strictly biblical and not traditional 'Archangel is only mentioned twice in the bible, once in reference to jesus and once in reference to michael. 1 thess 4:16 jude1:9

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. anything refering to archangel outside of these two is extra-biblical

in its purest sense archangel is simply the head of the angels or head-Angel in effect, this is backed up by the scripture in revelations in ref to michael rev 12: 7-9

7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

were there is a great battle between michael and his angels and Satan and his angels.

what is jw's or wtbts stance on aliens or ufo's?

i would asume they would say they dont exsist.

but would they go as far to say anything seen is the devil?

lol the first time my local fair had these laser type lights that beamed outwards and upwards into the night sky, making UFO type shapes on night clouds the local police were inundated by UFO sightings to this day I think some people think UFO's come and visit my local town coincidently everytime fair appears!

And how many times has it turned out to be a new militery plane being tested? lol Demons? nah just average joe not understanding what he is looking at.

Help needed, how can i ?

i've not been on for a while as i havent felt the 'need' but ive just logged in and read some very interesting posts as usual.

well i'm off to stay with my very witness parents very soon (for a few days, which is long enough) i do love them but its very hard being around them a lot of the time.

im fully aware that we have to come to our own decisions on the matter of realisation but i was wondering if anyone has any tips as to where i could start in craftily helping them, giving them something to perhaps think about ??

why not leave them be? you have a loving relationship and visit them they are in your grandsons life and so it sounds like a good and loving situation, why have a hidden agenda with them? there is always a chance it could backfire and hurt them.

/sigh I have great simpathy for those shunned on this site but do not understand this constant need to go and be underhand in trying to undermine Witnesses faith, under the influence of this site my sister chiki sent emails out one to a once JW fiance now happily married with kids and probs at least a MS full of info derived from this site, not surprisingly he didn't reply and her motives? revenge? bitterness? if someone is happy and a nice person in the JW faith they have spent most their life in it and looking forward to the hope even though old age and death are coming closer why stripe them of their hope? oh well :(

I finally said it...I don't like jw's

i'm vacation and watched as my wife headed out for her piosneering this past monday...i was pissed, because i'm here, but she'd rather be out there, hawking the wares of the borg as a non-paid employee.

i stewed in the house for 3-4 hours, angry that i took vows with this woman, but she essentially is forsaking those vows for her "friends", when she knows i don't care for it.

well the tolerance finally wore off!

Well she knows she doesnt have to tell the truth to those who dont deserve it. It is written in the rules of the WT

Thank you for your words but no! not for me is books filled with personal opinion and negative spin on WTs, I get the pretty full picture of all that on here, just because they are in book format doesn't make them any less personal or subjective and selective in what they put.

I have to say I do think of myself more as a Jw these days and that is reflected more in my words, when I first came on here I was unsure and hurt but time has helped me come to terms with things, this site has shown me there is a world of difference between faded/inactive and Da'd and df'd.

don't have to answer that question because this topic is not about me. But I do seem to note a hostility towards Kzjw from you. Just because your man left you high and dry when you were with child (Ooops I guess you didn't do such a hot job picking a daddy for your baby, huh?) doesn't mean that all men (so-called worldly or jw) are bad.

No but thats nothing to do with the discussion at all, my whole reason on joining this discussion was just to say we have no right to choose our spouses faith/religion/God for them it's to personal a thing and so compromising and a lot of love should be brought into these difficult and hard situations, and marriage counciling if things have got really difficult.

Erm Outlaw I am a JW i'm a faded one, I have repeatedly said I've never been df'd or da'd I just faded and am only having a study as a refresher lol I have been baptised and though I faded I have never repudiated jehovah in my life, I've questioned him and my choices but my paths have led back to him.
