  Did You Have Respect For The Elders In Your Hall?

  one day after a sunday meeting, 2 elders got into it with each other and started screaming at one another in the back of the hall just as service arrangements were being made.

  of course, the boe counseled them strongly but the result was that the congregation lost respect for the whole body.

  I can understand your words eyeslice but why is elders being mperfect men such a stumbling block we could interchange this conversation inserting "Elder" with any other leader title "bishop" "Vicar" "cardinal" ""Pope" and have the exact same conversation on them?

  Lol I shouldn't talk on these "WTs allows terrible people as leaders" thereby implying that God would not allow such men into leadership with his chosen faith threads.

  I just find these threads provoking lol give me a good doctrinal discussion anyday they are more realistic on why we should be for or against any particular faith.

  now, i haven't been to meetings since i was about 20, but in my congregation the sexes were pretty much evenly split.

  however, i've seen the statement several times that there are "not enough brothers to go around," so i can only assume that my congregation was atypical.

  so, if there are more women jws, what is the reason for this?.

  From a purely sexist point of view ^^ i agree with eyeslice lol as a woman I do my everyday life and still think on God even doing mundane jobs like washing up, but I have religious friends real bible thumping evangelical pentacostal men that when at church are all gunho to God but once they are away they switch off and play with equal enthusiam online gaming or watching football, In conclusion I think men are able to switch off more from one activity to another.

  My point might have been a bit loose minimus but what do you expect of elders? do you think you can goto any other faith or any other organisation from governments to army and not find examples of all of those mentioned above in their leadership? I beg to differ, If we read the bible the one thing it doesn't pull it's punches on is how leaders can just be as nasty and bad as anyone else! even jesus didn't even have people respecting him in bethlehem simply because they remembered him in nappies and sucking his thumb.

  I may lose respect for a certain elders if they are so bad it reflects in them being an elder and i hope that they get the job taken off them...minimus do you think there are faiths out there with leaders that will be immune to going bad or wrong?

  As most on here know I came out the other side as an ex-Jw that wants to go back, and however much you get to the "tipping point", it just doesn't end there! because once your out you have to deal with what is on the outside. Firstly other faiths if you use the same analyse as you are willing to use on WTs you come up with similar issues you only have to listen to people saying what a wonderful mystery trinity is, then if you reject other faiths you have to deal with a world without answers, nothing is simple and even though I have searched, all roads have led me back to Jw's, faulty prophecies an all lol

  I have a problem with stem cell research anyway outside of Jws. an embryo is a potential human life, it still feel like a form of deeply repugnant science to me and I hope i'm never in a position to benefit from it.

  Reniaa , I have found that most people do not know the intricacies of the Trinity, nor do they care. I was explaining the Witness stance once to my boss and he said, but they (father/son/spirit) are different, and they are the same. That is the great wonder of God. That is why I no longer think it matters how people understand God. The Bible is certainly not clear about the relationship of Father and Son, and we as humans have no logical ability to understand the spirit dimension at any rate. So to me tolerance of others understanding is more important.

  I did see a trinity discussion on here showing how cs lewis managed to persuade himself towards the trinity and ended up basically saying the same as you...that its a wonderful mystery, But it's not a mystery how it came about... even the smallest investigation of the internet shows the trinity is just not a bible teaching at all!, no scripture absolutely defines the trinity not even using the word trinity or saying 3 in one, it's ironic then that you cite "jehovah" as a example against the Jws because it at least does appear in the OT bible and so has more legal right than the trinity. If you took both to a court battle I know which would win.

  I agree with above poster being in a cult has nothing to do with creating a molester, otherwise how do you explain teachers, careworkers that have become molesters in those institutes? basically molesters see an opportunity and unfortunatly organisations that allow easy access to children are the first stop.

  Now we know how molesters work we should be on guard for all the signs of someone targeting us from whatever source they come from. the majority of molesters from statistics still work within a family unit usually their own.
