Question on two types of JWs in the earthly New System

as a witness, i often wondered why the society spent so much time proving that jehovah disposed of jesus physical body.

who would choose the earthly hope of being confined to a purely physical body on this tiny earth for eternity when we and our loved ones can be like christ, enjoying eternity in both a new heaven and a new earth, where the physical and the spiritual will be connected in a way that is beyond our imagination?

I have myself only heard of the 2 classes mentioned as one with heavenly hope and those with earthly hope, beyond that nothing about those on earth themselves been split up into classes, I know that there is a another 1000 years mentioned when satan gets released again to test those brought back to life on earth who never had a chance to know God.

here's an extract of how they describe it on there website no mention of 2 earthly classes that I can find.

Under the rule of Jesus Christ and his heavenly corulers, peace and happiness will prevail in all the earth. ( Psalm 37:9-11 ) Those in God's memory will be resurrected and will enjoy perfect health. ( Acts 24:15 ) By their faithfulness to God, obedient mankind will be granted what our original parents lost—everlasting life in human perfection on a paradise earth.— Revelation 21:3, 4 .
In the Bible book of Isaiah, we get a preview of what life will be like in the Paradise earth. No inhabitant of Paradise will say, "I am sick." ( Isaiah 33:24 ) Animals will pose no danger to man. ( Isaiah 11:6-9 ) People will build beautiful homes and inhabit them and will plant crops and eat to satisfaction. ( Isaiah 65:21-25 ) Moreover, God "will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces."— Isaiah 25:8 .

It can go both ways, depending on your leaning, trinitarian christians will see this as confirmation, Jehovah's witnesses will see it as confirmation too

obviously I myself lean on the witness side as expected, it certainly seems a weird time for them to make such a statement.

inactive, but having a study with a view to returning, this is gonna be a slow process as my life doesn't lend itself to getting to meetings and I don't want to get to fast into promises I can't keep again,

what happens after Armageddon?

didn't jesus say survivors would be "changed in the twinkling of an eye" ?.

didn't jesus say the dead would be resurrected first, before this change occurs?.

didn't jesus say he was going to prepare a place and we would be "taken" there to be with him?.

the question I always ask myself is why did God make us fleshly in the first place if our future is to be spiritual?

why the earth, lol why the universe for that matter?

if these are not meant then why goto all that trouble, personally I prefer an 'earthly hope' lol maybe thats another JW appeal for me, I never really thought on it before but going to heaven is not what I want, staying here and having time to exploer my full potential, they say we only use a tiny amount of our brains potential what if we could use it all? I'm an Artist and love the creative process to have a chance to explore it for a century or two with no pressure from time always sitting on my shoulder telling me it's running out. Lol i'm nearly 40 but I only just feel like i've become who I am, I always felt lost in my twenties, I want to enjoy who I am but already my body is telling me i'm on the downward spiral whatever my mind says, and i'm left screaming in my mind "It's not fair, I need more Time!!!"

Great Educational Tool for those studying or thinking of studying with JWS

i was doing some web surfing and catching up on my reading and came upon a post i hope may help some lurkers and seekers understand better what they are getting themselves into or may have already gotten into, by studying the bible with jws.. i surely hope it is not going against any rule to copy/paste this.

i will not include anything but the text.

I think shunning is one issue the WTS has gone wrong on, that it has become a way of being cruel to family and friends means it has gone beyond scriptorial presentation.
Disfellowshipping became a JW doctrinal practice around 1946 and shows no sign of being corrected any time soon. Meaning that, for at least 70% of JW history, this cruel, heartless and scripturally uninformed practice has been allowed to continue unchecked.

hmmm this is were disfellowshipping and shunning part ways for me, should someone be disfellowshipped? can you do one without the other? The bible sets up clear principles on certain actions that mean you are no longer walking according to God's word...If I was wanting loads of sex with different people wanted to get drunk all night etc I'd know that being a Witness wasn't for me and before you say I know there are witnesses that think they can do these things while staying witnesses leading a double-life I think they are just fooling themselves. There are biblical principles for disfellowshiping for want of a better word for those that want their 'cake and eat it',

Should we then go on to shun someone? my only reason to shun someone would be as I said above if they made it clear they were trying to stumble me out of WTs too, they would also have to respect my right not to do activities that conflict with my bible ethics, but I personally think there is room to keep lines of love and friendship open without the cruelty of shunning.

Russia and a new cold war

i occasionally find myself wondering whether the situation with russia is the bible prophesy of the king of the north and his final rising up being fullfilled.although im out of the watchtower i sometimes wonder.. what do you think the situation with russia is leading too?is it a new cold war starting?.

I fear, that it has been too long since a major war, men start to forget the consequences and think arms solves the problems. When two major powers start sizing each other up allowing conflict to grow, only memory of what a truly terrible war can do will stop them, I get worried! do you know when we used to worry about nuclear holocaust? I worry about it now when people are starting to forget and think they can use only one to solve an argument.

I understand you cab, I didn't want to derail this thread to much there have been other threads were the shunning/disfellowship/excommunicate whichever word you use has been discussed like the cross issue more thoroughly.

On a personal note I think shunning is one issue the WTS has gone wrong on, that it has become a way of being cruel to family and friends means it has gone beyond scriptorial presentation. And in fact is conflicting with other bible laws like respecting your parents and not making your children overburdenned, Love your enemy, the principle of jesus going to the tax collectors house is here as well even when his doing this really stumbled the appostles,

Don't get me wrong if someone who was either df-d da-d or innactive was in my face when I met them on how evil wts is now and they had a clear agenda to make me question JW, I probably would shun them but if they respected my right to believe in God I would treat them as always, obviously nightclubs and boosing all night is out ^^ but you can still be warm and friendly. Theres no need for the shunning to become what people who have suffered at the hands of it on here have felt and experienced. It's to easy to become self-righteous and shun people without thought on your motivations and the hurt caused making them stumble even more at WTs

There is a fine line between shunning and alllowing people to draw you into situations that mark you as a hypocrite, remember to far the opposite and you get marked as a lovebomber only being nice to get them back or as a hypocrite giving lipservice to jehovah, people will just as easily say "well they are a JW but I see them boozing all night with there friends etc"

Hi Big tex, I feel for you as I do anyone who has had to have the lies of an adult believed over them, I know in my heart of heart men like your dad won't get away with their lies, he knows he lied and that will mark him in God's eye's more than anything else.

As for the original post.... as much as I admire what medical science can do, besides it not been able to cure death which is like travelling through space beyond it's powers aside from a few faultering steps, would a poor 3rd world person have access to these wonderful suits, or would he now have to watch on (as he has with all other medical breakthroughs) and feel bitterness that he can't have the medicine to save him by virtue of being born in the wrong country,

I will hail medicine when the same level is offered to every person on the planet not just people born in the top 10 percent of it.

I said it was more important to stay true to the original translation, and I still stand by that even if you could prove it was a latin cross which is very unlikely, a patibulum is not a cross its a tao shape btw, and stake shape is still a candidate no one can say definitively even biblical clues are not enough, the shape of it just wasn't important enough to them, On another discussion you and I discussed LORD and if after centuries of it being interchangeable between JHWH and Jesus makingf people get both mixed up it is understandable but with the word "Cross" it's not the same because it's an example of inserting a word to fit a faith, The translation is precisely "stake" or "execution stake" if you want to indicate full meaning (there isn't the same confusion as there is with Lord) , there is no reason to put the word cross at all and even if a word for cross existed there's no reason to use it as patibulum or stake are not crosses.

laialeo is one of the most intelligent people I know but in the end it was an agree to disagree, she certainly is the scholar that I am not!
