Is the Kingdom Hall a good place for ugly guys to get pretty girls?
by donny inabout two weeks ago i was having lunch at an establishment that has tables set up on the outside (actually a sidewalk) and as i was waiting for my order, i overheard two guys talking at the next table.
a homely guy who had a pretty girl on his arm brought this response.
"wow man, look at that!

Yes, it is; I've seen a lot of it. Only, some better have some money or some watchtower ambition, or they still won't get a date.
That's why there are so many pretty ladies here. A woman wouldn't dare be born ugly in that religion; she wouldn't have a chance.

What finally pushed you over the edge?
by keyser soze inwas there one issue or incident, final straw, so-to-speak, that made you leave once and for all?
i know there was for me.. i had been having doubts for years, and had stopped believing it was the truth.
but i labored on as a jw, in part because of my family, and in part because i had invested so much of myself in it.

Geeze Donny, whatever happened with that "sister" at work?
I was never the same and I understood how much control they had over me.
Yes!! That's how it feels.

My JW Life... (LONG)
by silent ini never, ever thought i would ever be posting on a board such as this but here i am.
i've been reading the boards for several months and despite my initial conscience twinges, i couldn't help but follow a logical thought process on many issues that were causing me grief.
over this past week, due to the things i've read on here, i've had a massive cloud lift from me and i'm starting to feel joy and love in my heart that i've *never* felt before.

Silent,
I'm sorry for your pain, but I just had to laugh at this:
I even went shopping for a gun at Walmart but I couldn't buy one because I was too cheap and frugal.
Now THAT IS chintzy! But then again, I had thought of using water, myself.
I hardly ever read long posts, because it's hard to focus that long, but I did read all of yours, and I'm glad I did. As purplesofa (aka purplerain) said, there are some here who still believe some of the doctrine. Welcome to the board!

Purps, I was beginning to think I was the only one. It still has not stopped here, but right now it has let up a little. At least it didn't come inside my house.
I have 18" tall planting beds on either side of the gates, but you'd never know it. The mountains sound awfully good right now.

Like Jaguarbass I had a Ford Galaxy but mine was a 1960.
Me, too, only mine was a 67; I've been thinking all these years it was a 68, but when I looked up the pics, i saw it was a 67. That was some car, only I didn't realize it at the time. A subtle turquoise. Wish I had it now, but my first husband wrecked it. So roomy and so....metal. A real car. With a bench seat so you could snuggle up to your honey at the drive-in movies.
Hubert, I would like to see the 58 chevy convertible; do you have a pic? Was supposed to go to a car show on Saturday, but plans got cancelled at the last minute. We just love the old cars.

Sorry about your garden, yknot. I'm trying a few tomato plants in my waterlily pond this year. So far they look good, but I have no idea what I'm doing and don't know how to handle the fertilizer. Maybe someone with some knowledge will come along to help us.
