small things from our recent elder visit keep popping up in my mind .
one thing we discussed was how much pressure we felt in the congregation to keep doing more , more ,more .......i said that it caused us to never feel we were ever good enough !

Yes! If we were never to be made to feel compelled to give, why were they telling us how much to give in the preaching? I always struggled with the incongruence of that. I remember telling my ex at the last that I might still go door-to-door, but I would never ever turn in another report to them.

They really fool you into believing that the elders are "a hiding place from the wind." When you have that drilled into you, it's really shocking when the elders treat you like garbage.

i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

i've just watched a program on tv about bullying (in australia).
and my wife and i were just commenting on how much the jw's bully so many of their followers, as in shunning disfellowshiped or disassociated ones, even ones that have faded.
their bullying tactics also invove using famiky members not to talk to them.
The WTS creates 'disabled thinkers' and unprincipled, self-righteous people.
I think that's the best one line summation of what the WTS does to people that I've ever seen.
And that goes for other religions as well.
i respect those who come here from abroad (legally) but i can't help being amused at some of the things that are uttered from their mouths.
i live in a area where a good portion of my neighbors are of mexican american descent.
yesterday a neighbor 2 doors down was yelling at her son to quit teasing their german shepherd.
